SDSU s week gets underway on Thursday, Oct. 8, when it visits UNLV for a 6:00 p.m. (PT) contest in Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas. Two days later (Saturday, Oct. 10), the Aztecs will face Fresno State at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at the Bulldogs Save Mart Center. Live stats will be available for both matches this weekend with links located at GoAztecs.com. In addition, live video streaming of the two contests will be available at the SDSU web site. SERIES RECORDS The Aztecs record vs. UNLV stands at in a series that began in 1985 when both schools were members of the PCAA. The schools were also in the Western Athletic Conference together before joining the Mountain West in UNLV has won three of the last four meetings including both matches last season. SDSU is 15-4 vs. the Rebels in San Diego, 9-11 in Las Vegas and 0-2 on neutral courts. San Diego State s all-time record vs. Fresno State is since the team s first faced each other during the 1980 season. The Aztecs won both matches against the Bulldogs during the 2014 season and have won five of the last six contests vs. the Fresno State. The Aztecs are 15-3 vs. FSU in San Diego, 6-7 in Fresno and 6-0 in matches on neutral courts. HEAD COACH DEITRE COLLINS-PARKER San Diego State Head Coach Deitre Collins-Parker is in her seventh season with the Aztecs after being named the fourth head coach in program history prior to the 2009 campaign. Her record at SDSU is (.538). She previously served as head coach at UNLV for eight seasons ( ) and at Cornell for five years ( ). Her 19-year career record stands at (.487). A three-time All-American as a player at the University of Hawai i, she led the Rainbow Wahine to consecutive national titles ( ) and was named the national player of the year twice. She was a member of the U.S. Olympic Team and competed at the Goodwill Games and Pan Am Games prior to playing professionally in Europe for four years. She is one of six players named to the NCAA Division I Women s Volleyball 25th Anniversary Team in October 2005 and was inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame in the fall of 2008.

The Rebels are led by middle blocker Bree Hammel (2.95 kps, 1.07 dps, 1.23 bps) and outside hitter Ceannia Kincade (2.57 kps, 2.11 dps). The Rebels rank second in the conference in blocking with a team average of 2.85 bps. Fresno State s record stands at 9-8 (11-2 MW). Top players for the Bulldogs include outside hitters Carly Scarbrough (2.92 kps, 0.83 bps) and Aleisha Coates (2.86 kps, 2.41 dps). As a team, FSU ranks second in the Mountain West in kills and digs with marks of and per set respectively. PSOMA ATTACKS Freshman Alexandra Psoma had 11 kills in each of SDSU s two matches last week to lead the team in both contests. It marked the fourth and fifth times she has led the team in that category this season. After four conference matches she leads the Aztecs in kills in league play at 3.23 per set. That mark ranks seventh in the Mountain West entering the week. Psoma recorded the most kills in match by an Aztec this season when she had 18 vs. Denver on Saturday, Aug. 29. She also registered a dozen digs in that contest for her first career doubledouble as an Aztec. She currently leads the team with an average of 2.47 kills per set. PRITCHARD AT LIBERO Since moving into the starting role as the libero four matches ago, sophomore Devyn Pritchard is averaging 3.69 digs per set. She has been in double figures in digs in each of the Aztecs last four matches including a season-high 14 vs. No. 20 Colorado State on Oct. 3. Her 3.69 dps average in league matches ranks ninth in the conference this week. She recorded a season-high four assists in the contest at Air Force on Sept. 26. HARRIS SOLID AT THE NET Redshirt freshman Deja Harris had nine kills and hit.412 in the loss to Wyoming last Thursday (Oct. 1). Harris had four blocks in the three-set loss to No. 20 Colorado State on Oct. 3. Her overall blocking average of 1.08 blocks per set ranks seventh in the league. Her.361 hitting percentage in conference games ranks seventh in the Mountain West entering the week. She led the Aztecs with 15 kills in the three-set win at New Mexico on Sept. 24. Her.700 hitting percentage in that match was a career best as she had only one error on 20 attacks. She had a career-high 10-block performance at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 19 that included two solo efforts and eight assists. She has recorded at least one block in 15 of the Aztecs 16 matches this season. FUZIE CONSISTENT Emma Fuzie, a junior transfer from Pepperdine, averaged 2.50 in the Aztecs two matches last week. She recorded five blocks for the fourth time this season in the match at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 19. She ranks second on the team in blocking with an average of 0.85 per set. During SDSU s tournament (Sept. 4-5), she averaged 2.33 kills and 0.89 blocks in SDSU s three matches. CAGE SETS THE PACE Alexis Cage had a season-high 11 digs in the contest vs. No. 25 Wyoming on Oct. 1. Her average of 2.46 digs per set in league matches ranks second on the team behind libero Devyn Pritchard. She recorded her fourth double-figure kill contest of the season when she had 10 in the match at Air Force on Sept. 26. In the contest at Cal Poly on Sept. 18 she recorded a season-high 10 digs. Her three blocks assists at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 20 tied her career high. SANDBERG CONTRIBUTES Senior middle blocker Kaja Sandberg led the Aztecs with four blocks vs. No. 20 Colorado state on Oct. 3. She averaged 1.17 blocks per set over SDSU s two matches the previous week. Sandberg turned in a season-high six blocks in the win at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 19. Over SDSU s three matches during the weekend of Sept she recorded a.500 hitting percentage. Included in those numbers was a personal best.625 attack mark vs. UC Santa Barbara. JONES SETTING IT UP Junior setter Hailey Jones, a transfer from Irvine Valley JC, recorded her third double-double of the season with 25 assists and 10 digs in the contest at Air Force on Sept. 26. Her mark of 8.37 assists per set ranks sixth in the Mountain West this week. Jones 57 assists in the match vs. CSU Bakersfield were the most by an Aztec since Johnna Fouch recorded 61 against Fresno State on Nov. 3, ALL-TOURNAMENT AZTEC I Sophomore libero Alexa Saba was named to the all-tournament team at San Francisco Invitational during the opening weekend of the season (Aug ). Over SDSU s three matches, Saba averaged 4.50 digs per set and also had five assists and three service aces. In the win over Bakersfield she recorded a career-high 29 digs. Saba set a career best with eight assists in the win over Eastern Washington on Sept. 11. ALL-TOURNAMENT AZTEC II Junior outside hitter Baylee Little was named to the all-tournament team at last weekend s Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu. Over SDSU s three matches she averaged 2.00 kills, 0.78 digs and 0.33 blocks per set. She also recorded four service aces in the Aztecs win over Eastern Washington and hit.588 with 11 kills in that match. DOUBLE-DOUBLES Two Aztecs recorded double-doubles during the season-opening San Francisco Invitational (Aug ). Setter Hailey Jones did so twice with 47 assists-15 digs vs. Denver and 57 assists-11 digs vs. CSU Bakersfield. Alexandra Psoma had 18 kills and 12 digs in the match vs. Denver. Those starters include outside hitters Alexis Cage and Ciara Brown plus middle blocker Kaja Sandberg and libero Alexa Saba. Cage and Brown finished one-two in kills for the Aztecs at 3.00 and 2.75 per set respectively. Sandberg hit.284 and averaged 1.91 kills and 0.99 blocks per set while Saba had 2.86 digs per set from the back line. Other returnees who saw significant playing time include outside hitter Baylee Little (1.96 kps) and middle blocker Cassie O Hara (1.35 kps, 0.81 bps) along with defensive specialists Danielle Bolden (1.80 dps) and Devyn Pritchard (2.97 dps). THE REDSHIRT Also back is redshirt freshman middle blocker Deja Harris. Harris played briefly in two matches early in the 2014 campaign before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. In the three sets in which she appeared she totaled one kill, one service ace and a block.

Outside hitter Alexandra is a member of the Greek national team who was named Rookie of the Year in the Greek national league s top division. Outside hitter Alexis Harris was a second-team all-state selection in Nevada and is the younger sister of middle blocker Deja Harris. Outsider hitter Bailey Osborn was an all-state selection by MaxPreps and was her league s Player of the Year last season. Setter Lauren Utchen was an all-league honoree and league player of the year as senior in Outside hitter Alyssa Mathis was an allarea honoree the past two seasons at her high school in Florida. TRANSFERS ADDED The Aztecs have also added one fouryear transfer and a pair of junior college athletes to their 2015 roster. Emma Fuzie comes to SDSU after two seasons as a middle blocker at Pepperdine. Setter Hailey Jones was a two-time allstate selection at Irvine Valley JC where she led her team to the state championship last season. Middle blocker Jordan Conole arrives at SDSU from Pierce JC where she was a second-team all-western States Conference honoree as a freshman. RETURNEES AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS Junior middle blocker Kaja Sandberg finished among the top 15 in the Mountain West Conference in hitting percentage in She placed 13th both overall (.284) and in league matches only (.293) Ciara Brown was 15th in overall kill average at 2.75 per set. Danielle Bolden led the Mountain West in service aces in league contests with a mark of 0.43 per set and was third in all matches at 0.35 per set. Alexis Cage finished eighth in kill average in conference matches at 2.93 per set. STAFF ADDITION The Aztecs added a new volunteer assistant coach to their 2014 staff. Kelsey Williams, a 2014 All-America setter from Duke, has joined the Aztec volleyball coaching staff as the volunteer assistant coach. As a senior setter for the Blue Devils last year, Williams helped Duke rank second in the nation in both assists per set (14.05 aps) and kills per set (14.83 kps). Her play earned her AVCA All- America honorable mention honors and she was named to the AVCA All-East Coast Team. Williams was selected the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference Setter of the Year and picked up first team All-ACC honors after averaging a career-best assists per set. PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS The Mountain West coaches poll has predicted the Aztecs to finish sixth in the 11-team league. In the 16 years of the MW s existence, SDSU has finished first (2012), second (2002, 2011), fourth (2000, 2001, 2003, 2013), fifth (2005), sixth (1999, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2014), seventh (2008) and eighth (2007) in the final league standings.
