Admission and parking are free of charge. Fans are asked to park in the north St. John Arena lot or south French Field House lot. SIX BUCKEYES HONORED ON SENIOR DAY Six Buckeye seniors will be honored after the meet for their contributions to the program: Jake Crnkovich - McCook, Ill. Evan Eigner - Philadelphia, Pa. Alex Johnson - Marysville, Ohio Emeric Quade - Tucson, Ariz. Andrew Teal - Dracut, Mass. Donald Yeager - Austintown, Ohio SCOUTING THE SOONERS Top-ranked Oklahoma owns a three-score average of OU posted the top score in the nation this season in a dual-meet victory over No. 2 Stanford last Saturday. The Sooners are strong on every apparatus, ranking No. 1 overall on four events, second on high bar and fourth on pommel horse. Sooner athletes own three of the Top 4 all-around scores this season. Kanji Oyama is ranked No. 2 (88.883), followed by Yul Moldauer (88.683) and Allan Bower (88.150). Moldauer leads the nation on parallel bars with a three-score average of SCOUTING THE FALCONS Air Force owns a three-score team average of , good for 10th nationally. The Falcons are ranked in the Top 7 on three events: floor exercise (sixth, ), pommel horse (sixth, ) and rings (seventh, ). Chase Cannon is ranked No. 1 on high bar with a three-score average of Tim Wang is tied for third overall on pommel horse (15.417) and tied for seventh overall on vault (15.250). SERIES HISTORY VS. OKLAHOMA & AIR FORCE Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Ohio State OU avenged a loss to OSU at St. John Arena in 2014 with a dual-meet victory over the Buckeyes in Norman, Okla., last season. The Buckeyes are all-time against Air Force. YODER NAMED B1G FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Alec Yoder claimed his fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award of the season Monday following wins on pommel horse, rings and high bar at the Arnold Challenge Saturday. Yoder scored or higher on all three of his winning events at the Arnold, helping Ohio State to a school-record team score of in a tri-meet victory over Iowa and Nebraska. The Indianapolis native posted collegiate-best scores of on pommel horse, on high bar and on vault. The on pommel horse is No. 1 in the NCAA this season and ranks third in the OSU record book, while the on high bar ranks in the Top 10 nationally. MELTON NAMED TO U.S. NATIONAL TEAM Redshirt sophomore Sean Melton was named to the U.S. Senior National Team following a third-place performance in the all-around at the 2016 Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas Feb. 20. A native of Orlando, Fla., Melton posted a two-day score of , finishing behind three-time U.S. allaround champion Sam Mikulak ( ) and 2015 NCAA all-around champion Akash Modi of Stanford ( ).

2 Melton, who led the competition after day one, finished first overall on parallel bars with a two-day score of He also earned a runner-up finish on rings (30.750) and placed eighth overall on floor (29.100). He posted scores of 15 or better five times throughout the competition, highlighted by a on rings Thursday evening in the second preliminary session. Performances at Winter Cup helped determine the 15 men who will comprise the U.S. Men s Senior National Team through the 2016 P&G Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, Conn., June 3-5. Melton, Mikulak, Moldauer and C.J. Maestas were added to the team based on their all-around performances. The seven members of the 2015 World Championships team including former Buckeye All-American Brandon Wynn retained their spots on the national team. Four athletes were selected by the Men s Program Committee: Jake Dalton, Steven Legendre, John Orozco and Eddie Penev. LAST TIME OUT Ohio State used a school-record team score of to defeat No. 6 Iowa and No. 8 Nebraska at the annual Arnold Challenge at the Celeste Center last Saturday. The Buckeyes won five of six events against the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers and scored or higher on five events. OSU set a school record on parallel bars with a team total and also posted season-best scores on high bar (74.500) and floor exercise (73.650). The team all-around total of ranks third in the NCAA this season behind Oklahoma ( ) and No. 2 Stanford ( ). BUCKEYES IN THE RANKINGS TEAM Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) National Rankings. The Buckeyes are one of seven Big Ten schools ranked within the Top 10 as Minnesota (No. 4), Illinois (No. 5), Iowa (No. 6), Nebraska (No. 7), Penn State (No. 8) and Michigan (No. 10) also received votes. MEET HAMM, WILSON AND WYNN AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS Three of the top American gymnasts of all-time - all graduates of The Ohio State University - will be in attendance at the 2016 NCAA Men s Gymnastics Championships at St. John Arena this April. Paul Hamm, 2004 Olympic all-around champion, Blaine Wilson, 2004 Olympic team silver medalist, and Brandon Wynn, 2013 world still rings bronze medalist, will be available for autographs at the national championships. Wilson is scheduled to sign autographs at both qualifying sessions on Friday, April 15, while Wynn and Hamm are set to sign on Saturday, April 16. NCAA & B1G TICKETS ON SALE NOW! All-session and single-session tickets for the 2016 Big Ten Men s Gymnastics Championships and 2016 NCAA National Collegiate Men s Gymnastics Championships are now on sale. The Ohio State University and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission will serve as hosts for both events at St. John Arena. The Big Ten championships are scheduled for April 1-2, followed by the NCAA championships April All-session adult tickets for the Big Ten championships are $15, while youth admission in $10. Single-session adult tickets are $10, $7 for youth. All-session adult tickets for the NCAA championships are $20, while youth and student admission is $12. 3 RUSTAM SHARIPOV HEAD COACH KHARKOV, UKRAINE FIFTH SEASON Rustam Sharipov (roos-tom SHARE-ee-pahv) was named the head coach of the Ohio State men s gymnastics team in the summer of Sharipov, previously an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma from , brings the experience of three Olympic medals, including two gold, to Columbus as the eighth head coach in program history. Last season, Ohio State was named the preseason favorite in the Big Ten and ranked No. 3 in the nation prior to losing its Top 3 gymnasts to injury. The Buckeyes would go on to finish fifth at the Big Ten championships and NCAA Qualifier, with Drew Moling (rings) and Alex Johnson (high bar) earning All-America honors. Johnson also won his first career Big Ten title on high bar. The 2014 CGA Central Regional Coach of the Year, Sharipov led the Buckeyes to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA championships and a second-place finish at the Big Ten championships during the 2014 season. Sharipov helped Sean Melton to four All-American awards, Big Ten freshman of the year honors and Big Ten individual championships on high bar and parallel bars. Jake Martin was a two-event All-American and Big Ten champion on vault, while Jeff Treleaven earned his third All-American honor on vault and Johnson his first All-American award on high bar. Throughout the 2014 season, Sharipov coached the Buckeyes to a program-record team score of , (the sixth-highest score all-time) in a Senior Day upset win over No. 1 Oklahoma in addition to new team program records on all six events and new individual program records on four events (pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and high bar). In 2013, Sharipov guided Michael Newburger to the 2013 NCAA Championship on pommel horse. The Austin, Texas, native scored a to become only the second gymnast in program history to win a nationaltitle on pommel. In addition to Newburger, Sharipov coached Danny Steiner and Treleaven to All-America honors on floor exercise and vault, respectively, at the 2013 NCAA Individual Event Finals. Ohio State placed fourth overall at the 2013 Big Ten Championships, one place higher than the previous season. Under Sharipov s guidance, Steiner placed second overall on floor exercise, earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors for his performance. Sharipov led the Buckeyes to a record-setting season in 2012, as five members of the team (Ty Echard, Misha Koudinov, Kris Done, Newburger and Steiner) earned All-America status at the 2012 NCAA Individual Event Finals, tying the season program record with the 1993 and 2002 campaigns, respectively. Sharipov coached Echard, a 2012 Nissen-Emery Award finalist, to a share of the Big Ten pommel horse title and subsequent First Team All-Big Ten honors. He also guided Koudinov to a third-place tie on floor exercise and a second-place finish on parallel bars at the Big Ten championships. A native of Kharkov, Ukraine, Sharipov was named 2006 National Co-Assistant Coach of the Year, helping the Sooners claim the NCAA championship that year. In 2008, Sharipov helped guide the team to a second national title and was named co-assistant coach of the year for the second time in his career. In 2011, he was named the CGA West Region assistant coach of the year, leading the Sooners to an NCAA runner-up finish in the team finals. After retiring from competitive gymnastics in 2000, Sharipov moved to the United States and began his coaching career at the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Okla. After one year, Sharipov accepted a coaching position at the Houston Gymnastics Academy where he worked with some of the top gymnasts in the nation, including U.S. national team members Sean Townsend and Todd Thornton. In 2004, he was the head coach for the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the Junior Pacific Alliance Competition and in 2002 was the coach of the U.S. team that took gold at the Junior Pan American Games. As a gymnast, Sharipov began his competitive career as the Soviet junior national champion in 1989 before bringing home the all-around championship at the 1990 U.S. Olympic Cup. Sharipov helped the Unified Team to an Olympic gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He put on a show at the 1992 European Championships, winning high bar and taking second on parallel bars. Sharipov also took first on parallel bars at the CIS championships and the DTB Cup, and added a high bar championship at the Tokyo Cup. In 1993 Sharipov continued his success, taking first in the all-around at both the Nikon International and the International Championships of Romania, along with a third-place finish in the event at the European Cup. At the 1994 World Championships, Sharipov was a member of the third-place team and was the runner-up on parallel bars. In 1995, after winning championships on parallel bars at the French International and the Cottbus International along with an all-around title at the International Championships of Romania, Sharipov had an impressive showing at the European Cup, winning gold on high bar and parallel bars. He followed that up in 1996 with perhaps the best year of his career, taking first on parallel bars at the European championships before addinga gold medalon the sameapparatus at the World championships. The crowning moment of Sharipov s athletic career came at the 1996 Olympic Gamesin Atlanta, where he won the gold medal on parallel bars and was a member of the bronze-medal Ukrainian team. A 1997 graduate of Kharkov State in Ukraine, Sharipov was awarded the title of Master of Sport in The honor represents the highest athletic level one can reach in the former Soviet Union. Sharipov and his wife, Amber, have four daughters: Ksenia, Maya, Isabella, and Lilia; and one son, Raistlin. 4 CASIMIRO SUAREZ ASSISTANT COACH HAVANA, CUBA FIFTH SEASON BOB GAUTHIER ASSISTANT COACH LINDON, UTAH FIFTH SEASON Casimiro Suarez was named assistant coach of the Ohio State men s gymnastics team in the summer of 2011 and is in his fifth season with the Buckeyes. Suarez, a native of Havana, Cuba, came to Ohio State after coaching at Orlando Metro Gymnastics in Florida from A U.S. Junior National Team coach since 2004, he was named the Junior Olympic coach of the year in Suarez served as the Cuban women s national team coach from , was the Brazilian women s national team coach from , and also spent three seasons at Oklahoma as an assistant coach for the women s team from Suarez coached former Buckeye Tai Lee to many prestigious awards, including the state and regional eight champion and a 10.0 honor awarded to the region s outstanding high school senior in academics and gymnastics. As a gymnast, Suarez was a member of the Cuban National Team for 16 years and won nine all-around national titles. He competed in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, finishing sixthon high bar. Suarez also participated in the World championships seven times. Bob Gauthier was named assistant coach of the Ohio State men s gymnastics team in the fall of 2011 and is in his fifth season with the Buckeyes. Gauthier, a native of Lindon, Utah, arrived at Ohio State after spending more than 20 years as a men s head coach for all ages and levels at various local gyms. As coach of Arete Gymnastics, Gauthier coached four gymnasts who were on the junior national development team, including a two-time pommel horse national champion. An All-American and team captain at BYU, Gauthier was an assistant coach and team recruiter for the Cougars from 1985 to 1990 and a judge at NCAA collegiate sanctioned events for 11 years ( ). Gauthier was also member of the USA Gymnastics team from 1985 to A graduate of BYU in 1990 with a degree in physical education and health promotion, Gauthier was named Utah coach of the year in 2009 and Suarez has a degree from the School of Superior Physical Education in Havana, Cuba, and brings 20 years of coaching experience to Columbus.
