3 CHRISTMAS PARADE RULES & REGULATION Avoid Problems by carefully reading all rules! The following rules are imposed by the State of New Hampshire RSA 265:108-a (which imposes fines for violations) and/or the Christmas Parade Committee. 1. Children riding on vehicles in the parade must remain entirely within the perimeter of the vehicle and. If standing must be reasonably protected from probable injury if the vehicle starts or stops per RSA: 108-a Sitting on the edge of the vehicle with legs or feet hanging off is not permitted. 2. At least 1 adult, other than the driver, must supervise children riding on vehicles in the parade and have a reasonable means of immediate communication with the driver. The number of adults supervising children shall be. NOT less than 1 adult per every 4 children, and sufficient to ensure that each child is visible to a supervising adult per RSA: 108-a. 3. Floats, towed trailers, flatbed trucks, and other vehicles: a. No outrigger (protrusive) wheels allowed- even if covered with a flap or other apparatus. b. Each float or vehicle carrying people outside MAY be required to designate a safety officer who may be required to attend a parade safety meeting. All floats and vehicles will be inspected on the parade day. Any violations will result in entry removal from the parade. c. All float and vehicle drivers must hold a valid driver s license. It is the owner/operators responsibility to ensure that proper insurance coverage is in effect. Please have drivers license with you on parade day. d. All vehicles including those towed must have a valid registration and valid state inspection certificate (if required by law). A parade safety committee member and/or Hampton PD will check for these documents on the day of parade. e. Floats must enhance the theme or recognize it in a creative manner. f. Towed trailers can be no longer than 23 feet long, and flatbed trucks no longer than 29 feet long, neither can be larger than 13 feet high and 9 feet wide. Railing on float must be at least 48 inches. g. The name of the community group, organization or business responsible for the float must be visible to the crowd. h. Float entries with live music or public address systems must indicate the on application. i. No floats with protruding wheels, mopeds, or 4 wheel vehicles will be allowed. Trailers and other means of transport may or not be approved by the Public Safety and/or Compliance. See pictures of examples attached.

4 Operators for and any vehicle carrying individuals outside the vehicle cab are required to SEND A REPRESENTATIVE to a MANDITORY MEETING held at the Galley Hatch Pelican room(325 Lafayette Road (Route 1), Hampton) on November 18 th at 5:30 pm. j. Commercial entities MUST decorate their vehicles in the parade's theme! Any vehicle that attempts to join parade with a simple bow or wreath will not be allowed to participate. The parade committee will require that each participant adhere to the theme and completely decorate a minimum of 3 sides of their vehicle. Commercial entries are required to send a representative to a MANDITORY MEETING held at the Galley Hatch Pelican room (325 Lafayette Road (Route 1), Hampton) on November 18th at 5:30 pm. (Municipal vehicles are exempt). 4. All equestrian units, horses, horse drawn carriages or any other animal unit entries must not be left unattended at anytime. The Hampton Christmas Parade committee is attempting to obtain a street sweeper but if one is not available; all entries should be followed by a pooper scooper. Please be prepared and bring appropriate supplies should the street sweeper not be available. 5. The parade committee requires that ALL marching groups, including those with animals, dress or accessorize in holiday attire. 6. All dog/animals must be restrained on properly fitted collars and leashes. It is imperative to the safety of all that animals are not able to pull away from their leaders. 7. Any (non-contact) entry riding bicycles MUST wear helmets and reflective clothing. 8. While entries may distribute candy or souvenirs along the parade route, NO ONE MAY TOSS OR THROW ANYTHING INTO THE CROWD whether from a float or a walking unit. To do so will cause your unit being removed from the parade route. Parade participates must have safe access to refill the items do not place bags on the front, back or sides of moving float. PLEASE ENSURE THE SAFTEY OF OUR CHILDREN! THROWING CANDY TRIGGERS SMALL CHILDREN TO RUN INTO THE STREET WHERE THEY RUN THE RISK OF BEING HIT BY A MOVING VEHICLE! 9. No open flames are allowed. 10. Bands and other Musical Entries: If Pep Squads/Cheerleaders wish to march with band entries please attach their application with your Band application. Bands are expected to play the majority of the parade route. All bands are required to stop and play at the designated Seniors Citizens/Handicap Parade station TBD

5 Line Up Information: You will receive notification via and/or phone of your location on DECEMBER 4 TH. Typically, if you are: A large vehicle or float your arrival time will be 11:30 A.M. Riders within the float will arrive at 12:45 A.M. (this allows for fewer cars in staging area so we can line up floats) All others will arrive at 12:30. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you arrive at your scheduled time as this will ensure a smooth lineup and wonderful parade. The (approx.) 3 mile parade route begins at the North Hampton/Hampton town line and follows straight down to (Lafayette Rd) The Galley Hatch, CVS/Provident Bank Parking lot. Other entries may continue left up Winnacunnet Rd to either Centre School or the Old Town Hall parking lot. All entries with youths must confirm with parents/guardians the time and location of pickup after the parade. Someone from your group MUST STAY WITH THE CHILDREN until they are picked up. In the event of very inclement weather (severe snow storm) on the day of the parade a cancellation announcement will be made by the following; a notice will be posted at Town Hall, Channel 22 will broadcast. Local radio station announcements and channel 9 WMUR will make announcements of cancellation. There will be NO snow date for this event and no fee will be paid.
