50 Safety Protocols All team members must be sighted at Check-in & Check-out. No exceptions! Teams must Check-in on arrival and separately Check-out when leaving. Do not Check-in & out if you are staying at the Checkpoint for any length of time! Retirement stickers issued to each retired walker. These must be visible on the remaining walkers bib for each subsequent Checkpoint. Teams of 2 or less must walk with another team to ensure a safe walking group

52 Environmental audit In 2015 Oxfam Australia is once again being audited against ISO Standard 20121: Event Sustainability. We aim to beat 2014 efforts, we are again measuring many aspects of the event Fuel use in generators Water usage Kilometers driven Waste produced Many other aspects Please play your part, minimise waste, use the train to the start on Friday to reduce car use and be aware the waste you and your support crew will generate. Ensure you return questionnaire at registration
53 Waste Management Event generates several tonnes of waste each year Use the Waste Station at each Checkpoint to separate your waste Assist our wonderful Green Team volunteers. Use the provided landfill, co mingle and paper bins only Support crews to bring reusable or recyclable materials Support crews bring a lot of stuff to our checkpoints - please take as much as possible home to reduce the strain on our resources
54 Don t Go on the trail! Use facilities at Checkpoints or walk at least 20 metres off the trail and bury your waste at least 15cm deep Carry a small trowel it only weighs 55 grams, the same as a muesli bar! Think of those who follow you particularly the volunteers in the sweep team!

56 Don t forget To have your cup/bottle at every checkpoint for hot or electrolyte drinks Catch the train to the Start A first aid kit per team (carried, not in the car!) Four thermal (space) blankets Clothing for wet & cold weather No support crew access to Checkpoint 1, so pack all food, equipment and money. 57 Key Event Rules Reminder Ensure you have read and understood all the event rules! Rule 08: Teams must stay together between checkpoints and must check in and out together at each checkpoint Rule 17: Every team must have a support crew and must be selfsufficient. Rule 18: Teams are strictly forbidden to meet their support crew outside the checkpoints. Rule 22: Teams are asked to respect residential and local parking regulations. Rule 23: Participants must keep noise levels to a minimum when walking in residential areas. Rule 24: Teams must carry a minimum of two mobile phones. Rule 25: Each team must carry at least one first aid kit including four thermal blankets.
