4 LET'S TALK ABOUT FOOTBALL LEARNING What do you think what is the best way to learn how to play soccer game? Definitely it is playing the game, doing a dramatic presentation, simulating the real experience of soccer game and doing the real thing in soccer. This represents 90 % of what we say & do. The teaching and learning process proceeds step by step, with each step representing a gradual increase in the level of difficulty. The tasks become more dificulty and complex. The different dimensions of technique, tactics and physical and mental fitness are no longer isolated, but are coached in a global, integrated manner. Soccer is more then the sum of technique, tactics and condition. In a game of soccer, more then half of all instances of loss possesion are due to a wrong decision rather than poor technique. A coach who teaches his players correct technique using special frequently repeated drills is neglecting to teach them Why, When & Where they need to use a technique to deal with a given game situation. The players learn to read game situations correctly by chance if at all.

5 WHAT KIND OF GAMES CREATE FOR EFFECTIVE LEARNING? Improve their perception and decision-making ability Stimulate them technically, tactically, physicaly and mentaly Promote their understanding of game Help them learn to adapt quickly and securely to the constantly changing game situations in defense and attack

6 WHAT IS REALY THE REAL INFORMATION The secret is Stimulations through play insted of instruction through isolated drills. Learning by practice, by playing the soccer game ( motor learning ) goes hand with hand by perception and reasoning ( cognitive learning ). Modern soccer coaching is therefore aimed at developing soccer technique and soccer inteligence in complex game situations. The coach confronts his players with the same or similar game situations, in witch they have to make decisions quickly and translate into real soccer information, in successful soccer action.

8 LET'S TAKE REAL FOOTBALL INFORMATION How often do you see clubs carrying out pre-season sessions, in-season sessions and general fitness sessions without a ball? You know yourself that doing continuous running, intervals, circuits can and does get a little boring and demotivating. The sessions in this item have been designed to improve your players endurance (lactate threshold, VO2 max and anaerobic capacity). But where is the real football information? Motivating your players by using small sided games is the most effective technique available to improve player s fitness levels for football. Motivation of a player is improved when football and competition are involved. Also, more similar movement types and patterns in soccer drills may also lead to a greater transfer to match specific fitness. Enhanced movement efficiency is particularly a key for unorthodox forms of locomotion, such as side and backwards movements, which are frequently used in football drills. Which are the advantages/disadvantages of carrying out traditional and football specific training methods? Don`t forget! We are looking for real soccer information!

10 SOCCER GAME ORIENTED LEARNING TRADITIONAL RUNNING & ISOLATED DRILLS DISADVANTAGES Difficult to work out and control exact intensity Often difficult to organize optimal training structure Increased risk of contact injuries Need numbers to make up session Certain degree of technical ability required Less movement associated with match play (usually straight line running) Players do not practice technical skills No game-based tactical elements Players do not like running sessions May increase risk of some injuries due to unaccustomed running (tendonitis, lumbopelvic problems) There aren't good or bad methodologies, or training exercises. 11 ARE YOU STILL LOOKING FOR REAL SOCCER INFROMATION? IT IS HIDDEN IN SOCCER TRAINING GAMES! Factors that can influence the coaching points of football games include the type of drill, player numbers, player motivation, pitch size, and rule alterations. Modifying a football drill is often done by adjusting the number of players present. Lower playing numbers result in higher exercise intensities and vice-versa. The purpose of training is to improve match performance: Training activities must therefore be football-related activities that resemble the Match and prepare players for the Match. Make better use of every minute of the session to make it more successful. Do not waste valuable football training time with non-relevant activities. This facts turns football training from potential into real football information.

12 REAL SOCCER INFROMATION = DEMANDS OF TOP LEVEL SOCCER Demands of the game The major events in football, such as the FIFA World Cup, the interclub continental competitions and the other continental championships, highlight the development of the modern footballer and enable future models to be envisaged. The aim of the technical staff is thus to prepare for the demands of the game and the needs of the players. With their effectiveness and modernity, tracking tools deliver precise data on the activity of players and teams in competition. The new technology supporting football analysis highlights the increasing trend towards a higher tempo, more entertainment and the increasing versatility and physical strength of modern players. Analysis of football reveals the speed of the game and the importance of winning one-on-ones, as well as the fact that the most successful teams are those that dominate play while endeavouring to display minimal defensive vulnerability. Today s top teams no longer necessarily have the best defence, which is increasingly vulnerable to attack down the flanks, but use their attacking midfielders and full backs to outnumber the opposition.
