1 Version 2 published 20 th March 2014 OBJECTIVE FSC aims to develop and deliver programs and services to developing and talented players and coaches within the Illawarra Region. Our main goal is to assist identified players to achieve excellence and success at local representative, State and eventually national level. FSC runs a number of development programs and competitions which includes the Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) and the Regional League Competition. SAP FSC is part of the FNSW SAP for under 9, 10 and 11. FNSW State Technical Director Alex Tobin stated that the 2013 SAP aims to deliver an enhanced football development opportunity to the States talented youth players, providing them the platform and foundation as they embark on the elite player pathway. The SAP incorporates the principles of the FFA National Curriculum and is an elite non competition representative tournament all about development for talented players. FSC SAP juniors train 3 nights per week and play each week against clubs and associations such as Macarthur Rams, Sutherland Sharks, St George and Southern Branch. Each squad comprises of 20 juniors and includes 2 girls in each team. The training of these squads is unique to any other association / club participating in SAP in that each squad has two highly qualified coaches to develop players to their full potential. All players are selected through a trial process. From the SAP, players have the potential to be selected to play in the FNSW Premier League with the South Coast Wolves or to participate in the Regional League Competition. The South Coast Wolves gives our juniors the opportunity to play football at the highest level within NSW. It is our regions representative team which is part of the elite pathway.
2 RLC The RLC was first implemented in 2013 to provide male youth players a development opportunity between club football and FNSW Premier League football. It is a program designed to prepare players for tactical and technical challenges of the FNSW premier League competition. The FSC RLC competes against Sutherland Shire, St George, Southern Districts, Southern Branch, Inter Lions, and Hakoah Sydney City East Football Clubs. The age groups are U12, U13, U14 and U15 and all players are selected through a trial process.
3 The process for FSC selection is divided into four key development steps which clearly defined the accountable and transparent process that will ensure on going success for both players coaches and the organisation Development Programs FSC also runs various development programs for both boys and girls. The selection of these development program squads may be through trials as co-ordinated between FSC and the Junior clubs. SELECTION PROCESS 1. Trial Participants All trial information will be held to all members of the public including member clubs and schools with trial dates to publicised on the Football South Coast web page and Face Book page. 2. Selection Panel The selection of these players will be made by three panel members one of which will consist of the FSC Technical Director and two FSC coaches or other FSC delegates which can include coaches from FSC clubs or elite representative clubs such as the South Coast Wolves and Illawarra Stingrays. These panel members will comprise of qualified and accredited coaches holding appropriate FFA coaching licenses. The selection panel will rank each trialling participant in accordance with the outlined criteria. All three panellists will then consult to order and rank the players for selection. 3. Conflict of Interest All members of the Technical Committee will declare any potential conflict of interest in the selection of teams. A potential conflict of interest includes (but not limited to) interest in associated businesses, family relationships. All potential conflicts of interest will be brought to the attention of the CEO of Football South Coast and the FSC Technical Director who will decide on appropriate measures to manage the issue. Balance: Players are selected to give the team an overall balance, spreading all skills throughout the squad.
4 4. Selection Criteria Technical Ability Technical ability incorporates a player s skill level with the ball and the technique applied when in possession of the ball under pressure. These core skills are outlined by Football Federation Australia in The FFA National Curriculum Striking The Ball This includes all forms all forms of striking the ball such as short/long passing; shooting, crossing and heading. The ability to perform the above techniques in specific formats of the game: 1v1, 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11
