5 Club Objectives The primary objectives of Parkdale Sidac Football Club (the Club) are to give boys and girls the opportunity of taking part in regular and organised football matches and competitions and to provide an environment which enables each and every player to learn and develop the skills of football, individually and collectively. The Club believe that this can be best achieved in an environment that promotes fun and encourages skill development under the guidance of an adult with coaching capabilities. The Club place great emphasis on good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect of others and leadership on and off the field. The Club believe that they can achieve these objectives with regular coaching sessions which include warm up, skill development, skill games/drills, match play and warm downs. These activities are appropriate for the relevant age groups and abilities, and the coaching sessions provide a structured sequential programming of learning and development. The Club believes that with any skill there is a building process from the introduction of the skill to the repetition and practising of the skill. The playing of skill games is a vital intermediate step between learning a skill and performing that skill in a match situation. Coaching priority is placed on the teaching of individual and team skills rather than winning a match. The Club believes that match results will benefit with successful coaching development. The Club aims to: 1. Provide young people with a fun, exciting and challenging experience of football. 2. Develop basic and football related skills in young people. 3. Create an environment where all young people achieve and feel success in football. 4. Promote fair play and positive sporting behaviour, while discouraging the "win at all costs" attitude. However, it is the intention and desire to win but only within the rules of football and by fair play. 5. Establish a foundation of a lifetime of activity and involvement in football. The Club have developed a series of Codes of Conduct done with the intention for all people involved with the Club to set a level of expected conduct and to lead by example. Copies of all of these codes of conduct are included in the club handbook and available to anyone to download from our club website.

6 Mission Statement Parkdale Sidac Football Club aims to provide quality training and playing facilities to all club members regardless of ability, and to improve both individual and team skills both on and off the field of play.

7 Club Constitution NAME: The name of the club shall be "PARKDALE SIDAC FOOTBALL CLUB", (thereafter called 'the Club'). AFFILIATION: The Club shall be affiliated to the Liverpool County Football Association. STATUS OF CONSTITUTION: The Constitution (the Club rules) forms a binding agreement between the Club and each member. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the Club shall be: To provide Association Football on a non-profit making basis for its members. To arrange competitive football for its members. To provide social events for its members. To provide the opportunity and facilities for persons from the age of 6 upwards to play football. To promote football amongst persons of either sex. To ensure that the facilities provided by the Club are available to persons of either sex (in the case of girls - up to 11 years in mixed teams), irrespective of race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, ability or social standing. To provide coaching for individuals to improve and develop football skills, social skills, team spirit and the enjoyment of football. To teach the members of the Club discipline both on and off the field of play and to help prepare them to become responsible citizens. To ensure that people of the Club participate in the Club activities in a 'Safe' environment. To teach people Train hard, play fair, win, lose or draw with equal pride, dignity and honour, to play by the rules, to respect the opposing team, match officials, parents, managers, helpers and spectators. To contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the people of the district of St Helens and the surrounding areas. To advance the education and training of the managers and coaches involved in the provision of such training. RULES AND REGULATIONS: The Club shall have the status of an Affiliated Member Club of the Football Association by virtue of its affiliation to / membership of the Football Association. The rules and regulations of the Football Association Limited and parent County Association and any League or Competition to which the Club is affiliated for the time being shall be deemed to be incorporated into the Club Rules. 8 Any alterations to the Club rules will be confirmed to the parent Association. The Club will abide by the Football Associations Child Protection Policies and procedures, Codes of Conduct and the Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination Policy. CLUB MEMBERSHIP: The Management Committee shall determine membership criteria. Applications for membership of the Club shall be in a format prescribed by the Management Club Committee. Applicants shall be deemed to be members of the Club once their applications have been accepted and entered in the Membership Register. The Management Committee shall have the right for good and sufficient reason to terminate the membership of any member. The members of the Club from time to time shall be those persons listed in the register maintained by the Club Secretary. In the event of a member leaving the Club or being expelled his or her name shall be removed from the register. The Football Association and the Liverpool County Football Association shall be given access to the membership register on request. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE: The Management Committee may determine an annual membership fee payable by each member from time to time. Any fee shall be payable on a successful application for membership and annually by each member. Fees shall not be repayable. The Management Committee shall have the authority to levy further subscriptions from the members as are reasonably necessary to fulfil the objectives of the Club. SUBSCRIPTIONS: Subscription fees shall be due for each playing member as deemed by each respective coach. Players subscriptions cannot fall more than two months overdue. As a third month falls due the player will become ineligible for game selection. All players shall pay a fixed subs amount of 15 per month over a 12 month period. Coaches are responsible to collect all subs. 3 of each 15 will be held for that players individual teams use (see below). All coaches are to ensure all subs are handed in every month at the coaches monthly meeting. All Representative Coaches must hand all subs into the Finance Officer at the next Committee meeting. Any coach requiring support in collecting subs must liaise with their Representative Coach, in the first instance who will advise on an appropriate course of action. All coaches are asked to attend each monthly coaches meeting. If unable to attend, subs must be handed in to their Representative Coach prior to the monthly meeting. All fines incurred are to be paid in full within 14 days of receiving notification of the fine, to their Representative Coach. If in dispute, the Representative Coach will liaise with the Secretary and advise accordingly. The subscriptions and fines have a direct impact on how the club is run hence failure to follow the above guidelines will unfortunately have implications. Failure to follow the above will result in the offending coach being summoned to a meeting with the clubs Disciplinary Panel headed by the Vice Chairman and two other Management Committee members. Any coach failing to attend 3 meetings in any rolling 12 month period may face being relieved of their position. Club Constitution Page 2 of 6 Parkdale Sidac F.C.

9 ADDITIONAL FUNDRAISING: In addition to collection of monthly subscriptions, any further fundraising by the Club or individual teams must be processed as part of the Club finances. Any funds raised by individual teams (above and beyond subscriptions) with the intention of use by that team alone will be held separately by the Club for that teams sole use. These funds can be called upon at any time. Funds must not be held in bank accounts separate to the accounts maintained by the Club Committee. Any finances deemed to be held as part of the Club can be subject to enquiries under the Freedom of Information Act. Any individual responsible for maintaining such funds could become personally responsible for any misdemeanour or for not following correct procedures. CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP: Being a registered player does not guarantee selection for EVERY game. Players and parents must understand that there has to be substitutes, and this is decided upon for many reasons and it is not always relevant to whether the player is playing well or not. For example, the balance of the team and the way they are performing often dictates which player comes off and goes on. Players will be tried in different positions from time to time. Players will attend training when available or advise of any unavailability. Players will be responsible for payment of their own fines personally incurred while representing the Club. Respect each and every individual within the Club and other Clubs. Respect all property and possessions within the Club and other Clubs. RESIGNATION AND EXPULSION: A playing member may resign from the Club during the football season by he or she notifying the appropriate Team Manager. A Manager, Assistant Manager or Committee member may resign by notifying the Club Secretary in writing. The Management Committee may expel a member should it be of the opinion that it would not be in the interests of the Club for he or she to remain a member. The Committee may exercise this power in relation to any Manager or Club Member. Any member who resigns or is expelled shall not be entitled to claim any, or a share of any, of the Club property. ASSETS: All items purchased by the Club or gifts donated to the Club by way of sponsorship or otherwise shall be regarded as assets of the Club. The Treasurer shall maintain an inventory of the assets. No asset may be removed from the Club without the approval of the Management Committee. INSURANCE: The Club shall take out insurance for public liability, personal accident for playing members and other insurance considered appropriate by the Management Committee. CLUB TEAMS: At its first meeting following an AGM the Management Committee shall appoint a Club member to be responsible for each of the Club football teams. The appointed member shall be responsible for managing the affairs of the team. Every volunteer on behalf of the Club will, by accepting the appointment, undertake to abide by all rules, codes of conduct and policies of the Club and Football Association. Club colours must be adhered to at all times where applicable. Club Constitution Page 3 of 6 Parkdale Sidac F.C.

10 TEAM MANAGEMENT: It is the responsibility of the Team Managers to register playing members. It is the responsibility of the Team Managers to ensure eligibility of all playing members. Managers have responsibility for team selection and are responsible for the discipline of playing members both on and off the field of play while representing the Club. Changing rooms should be cleaned and locked after matches. All accidents to be reported. Attend the Coach Committee Meetings. Encourage spectators / parents to display appropriate behaviour and sportsmanship. GENERAL: The Club shall not be responsible for any injury incurred whilst playing, training or travelling with the Club. The Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage during the period from arrival and departure from the venue at which the Club event is being held. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE: The Management Committee shall consist of the following Club Officers:- Chairman Vice-Chairman Secretary Assistant Secretary Treasurer / Finance Officer Planning & Communications Officer Coaches Officer Resources & Equipment Officer Parent s Representative The control and administration of the Club shall be vested in the Management Committee (there after called the Committee) the members of which shall be the Officers referred to above, the Managers of the age group teams and where applicable assistant Managers and five persons who are not officers, managers or assistant managers. Each Club Officer and Committee member shall hold office from the date of appointment until the following Annual General Meeting unless otherwise resolved at a Special General Meeting. One person may not hold more than two positions at any one time. The Management Committee shall be responsible for the management of all the affairs of the Club. Each shall be entitled to seek re-election. Minutes shall be taken of the Management Committee meetings. Decisions of the Management Committee of meetings shall be made by a simple majority vote of those attending the Committee meeting. The chairperson shall have the casting vote in the event of a tie. These shall be entered into the minute book of the Club to be maintained by the Club Secretary. Meetings will be held as often as is deemed necessary by the Committee. Any member of the Committee may call a meeting of the Committee by not giving less than seven days notice to all members of the Committee. The Management Committee shall not hold less than four meetings a year. Any vacancy on the Committee, which arises between Annual General Meetings, shall be filled by a member proposed by one and seconded by another of the remaining Committee and approved by a simple majority of the remaining Committee members. Members who fail to attend three consecutive meetings without apology will retire from the Committee. Club Constitution Page 4 of 6 Parkdale Sidac F.C.

11 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: An Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) shall be held each year to:- Receive a report on the activities of the Club over the previous year. Receive a report on the Club's Finances. Elect the Officers of the Club. Consider motions of which due notice has been given. Appoint Managers to the various teams. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING: All General Meetings other than Annual General Meetings shall be called Special General Meetings / 360 Feedback Meetings. May be called by the Chairperson of the Club Committee or by the Secretary. Ten days notice will be needed for calling a meeting. Such a request shall state the purpose of the meeting. RULES AND PROCEDURES AT GENERAL MEETINGS: Each full member present, other than the Chairperson shall have one vote. Resolutions shall be decided by a simple majority of those present. In the event of an equality vote, the Chairperson shall have the casting vote. Minutes of all General Meetings to be maintained and shall be the responsibility of the Secretary. CLUB FINANCES: A bank account shall be opened and maintained in the name of the Club (the Club Account). Designated signatories shall be the Club Chairman, the Finance Officer or another duly authorised member of the Committee. The income shall be applied only in the furtherance of the objectives of the Club. The Finance Officer shall keep proper accounts of the finances of the Club. The accounts will be audited at least once a year. CODES OF CONDUCT: The Cub shall adopt and apply the following Codes of Conduct:- Players. Parents and Spectators. Coaches. Team Officials. Fair Play (for all). CHILD PROTECTION POLICY: The Club shall adopt and apply a Child Protection Policy and designate a Child Welfare Officer (namely the club Secretary). Approximately 4 million children take part in football activities with over ½ million adults involved. Football could provide easy access for those wishing to harm children but can also provide an opportunity to identify and act on concerns outside the game. All adults have a moral and legal responsibility to protect children and this is under pinned and supported by Government Legislation and Guidance. In response to the legislation the Football Association Child Protection Policy was launched in May 2000, recognising their responsibility to protect children and young people (Under 18) from physical, sexual and emotional harm and from neglect and bullying. 12 ANTI DISCRIMINATION POLICY: The Club shall adopt and apply an Anti-Discrimination Policy. EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES: The Club shall adopt and apply an Equal Opportunities Policy. HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY: The Club shall adopt and apply a Health and Safety Policy. GOALPOST SAFETY POLICY: The Club shall adopt and apply a Goalpost Safety Policy. COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE: The Club shall adopt and apply a Complaints Procedure. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT: The Club shall encourage new teams to form and compete each season especially at the youngest age groups. All Club Managers and Coaches shall be required to attend a Football Association Level 1 course. DISCIPLINE: The disciplinary committee will meet only when matters of discipline need to be discussed or individual cases are to be heard. The Vice Chairman will preside over the disciplinary Committee. The disciplinary Committee will be made up of two other members selected by the Vice Chairman. The Club Disciplinary Committee has the power to impose sanctions on a player / member of the Club with regards to playing, training etc and can terminate membership of the Club. Persistent breaches of Club discipline, rules, policies and codes of conduct can lead to bans from matches or training and to termination from membership of the Club. AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION: This Constitution may be amended at the Annual General Meeting of the Club Committee or by a Special General Meeting (called for that purpose) provided that at least 75% of the members of the Committee are present and that two thirds of those present vote in favour of the amendment(s). At least ten days notice shall be given of a Special General Meeting. DISSOLUTION: The dissolution of the Club may be affected only by a resolution passed by 75% of the full members of the Club present in person or by proxy at a Special General Meeting convened for that purpose and to which notice has been served on every full member of the Club at his/her last known address. The dissolution of the Club shall take effect from the date of the resolution and the members of the Management Committee shall be responsible for the winding up of the assets and the liabilities of the Club. If a motion to dissolve the Club is carried by the said majority, the Club surplus funds, after taking into account any outstanding liabilities, property and assets (if any) shall not be distributed amongst the membership. In the event that the Club shall cease to operate, its assets shall be distributed to local Football Clubs in St Helens on an equitable basis under the guidance of the Liverpool County Football Association. 13 Code of Conduct for Players Parkdale Sidac Football Club expect all players to comply with the following code of conduct :- Obligations towards the Game A player should 1. Make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina. 2. Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if his team is in a position where the desired result has already been achieved. 3. Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters. 4. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship and time-wasting. 5. Not use offensive language. Obligations towards One s Own Team A player should 1. Make every effort consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game to help his own team win. 2. Resist any influence which might, or might be seen to, bring into question his commitment to the team winning. Respect for the Laws of the Game and Competition Rules A player should 1. Know and abide by the Laws, rules and spirit of the game, and the competition rules. 2. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally. 3. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques. 4. Violent Conduct or Foul and Abusive Language will under no circumstances be accepted by the club. Disciplinary action will be reviewed in these cases, and any resulting fine from the league will be passed on in turn to the player. Respect towards Opponents A player should 1. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game. 2. Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents. Respect towards the Match Officials A player should 1. Accept the decision of the Match Official without protest. 2. Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official. 3. Show due respect towards Match Officials. Respect towards Team Officials A player should 1. Abide by the instructions of their Coach and Team Officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this Code. 2. Show due respect towards the Team Officials of the opposition. Obligations towards the Supporters A player should: 1. Show due respect to the interests of supporters.

14 Code of Conduct for Parents and Spectators Parkdale Sidac Football Club recognise that Parents / Spectators have a great influence on children s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game it s fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within our club it is important to reinforce to all parents / spectators that positive encouragement will contribute to:- Children enjoying football. A sense of personal achievement. Self-esteem. Improving the child s skills and techniques. A parent s / spectator s expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child s attitude towards:- Other players. Officials. Managers. Spectators. We expect that all parents / spectators within our club are always positive and encouraging towards all of the children not just their own. We will encourage parents / spectators to:- Applaud the opposition as well as your own team. Avoid coaching the child during the game. Not to shout and scream. Respect the referee s decision. Give attention to each of the children involved in football not just the most talented. Give encouragement to everyone to participate in football. We would also like to ensure that parents / spectators within our club agree and adhere to our club s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies. Copies of all of these codes of conduct are included in the club handbook and available to anyone to download from our club website. 15 Code of Conduct for Coaches All Parkdale Sidac Football Club coaches are expected to comply with the F.A. coaches association as set out below : Coaches must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the sport. Coaches must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance. Coaches must adhere to all guidelines laid down by governing bodies. Coaches must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect. Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward. Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance. Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players. Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and, where appropriate, parent) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach. Coaches must co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) in the best interests of the player. Coaches must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, behaviour contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques. Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance. Coaches must not use or tolerate inappropriate language. 16 Code of Conduct for Team Officials Parkdale Sidac Football Club expect all team officials to follow the following code of conduct :- Obligations towards the Game The team official should Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters. Promote and develop his own team having regard to the interest of the Players, Supporters and reputation of the national game. Share knowledge and experience when invited to do so, taking into account the interest of the body that has requested this rather than personal interests. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship. Show due respect to Match Officials and others involved in the game. Always have regard for the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion of the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game. Not use or tolerate inappropriate language. Obligations towards the Team The team official should Make every effort to develop the sporting, technical and tactical levels of the club/team, and to obtain the best results for the team, using all permitted means. Give priority to the interests of the team over individual interests. Resist all illegal or unsporting influences, including banned substances and techniques. Promote ethical principles. Show due respect for the interests of the players, coaches and officials, their own club/team and others. Obligations towards the Supporters The team official should Show due respect for the interests of supporters. Respect towards the Match Officials A team official should Accept the decisions of the Match Official without protest. Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official. 17 Fair Play Guidelines In summary, the Club adheres to Fair Play being:- Players enjoying themselves. Ideals of sportsmanship, self-discipline, mutual respect, honesty and comradeship are encouraged. An atmosphere of friendly co-operation and competition exists. All players are actively involved. A minority of players are not permitted to dominate. A minimal risk of injury. Show an understanding of and respect for the laws of the game. Play within the laws of the game. Behave on and off the field in a sporting manner towards all others involved, be they players, officials or spectators - irrespective of the results. The values and attitudes of the Fair Play policy will be indicative of the approach of the coaches and parents. On doing so, Fair Play is.. Respect - for the opposition, the officials and the rules of the game. Staying cool - no matter what happens Dignity - in winning or losing. Keeping football fun - that's why we do it.

18 Child Protection Statement Parkdale Sidac FC (the club) recognises and accepts its responsibility for the safety and welfare of all children and young people who come to the club by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. The child s welfare is, and must always be the paramount consideration. The club will ensure that there are practices and procedures in place to reduce the risk of harm to children and young people at the club. All team managers and coaches will be subject to local Football Association child protection registration. Parents and children coming to the club will be made aware of our child protection policy. Parkdale Sidac Football Club accepts and will conform to the Football Association child protection policy published May 2000 and the procedures and practices handbook published November 2000.

19 Child Protection Policy Parkdale Sidac Football Club acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. A child or young person is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any club football activity. We subscribe to The Football Association's child protection and best practice policy and procedures and endorse and adopt the policy statement contained in that document. The key principles of The FA Child Protection Policy are that:- 1. The child's welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration 2. All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious beliefs or sexual orientation 3. All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately 4. Working in partnership with other organisations, children and young people and their parents or carers is essential. 5. We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse. Parkdale Sidac Football Club recognises that this is the responsibility of every adult involved in our club. Parkdale Sidac Football Club has a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. It is noted and accepted that The Football Association's child protection regulation (see The FA Handbook) applies to everyone in football whether in a paid or voluntary capacity. This includes those who are a volunteer, match official, helper on club tours, football coach, club official or medical staff. We endorse and adopt The FA's Child Protection and Best Practice Guidelines for Recruiting Volunteers and will:- 1. Develop a role profile 2. Request identification documents 3. As a minimum meet and chat with the applicant(s) and where possible conduct interviews before appointing 4. Request and follow up with two references before appointing 5. Require an FA CRB Unit Enhanced Disclosure where appropriate in line with FA guidelines. All current Parkdale Sidac Football Club members with direct access to children and young people will be required to complete a CRB Enhanced Disclosure via The FA CRB Unit. If there are concerns regarding the appropriateness of an individual who is already involved or who has approached us to become part of Football Club, guidance will be sought from The Football Association. It is noted and accepted that The FA will consider the relevance and significance of the information The FA Charter Standard Club Programme Child Protection Policy obtained via The FA CRB Unit

20 Enhanced CRB Disclosure and that all decisions will be made in the best interests of children and young people. Parkdale Sidac Football Club supports The FA's whistle blowing' policy. Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague can whistle blow' by contacting The FA Child Protection Manager on , by writing to The FA Case Manager at The Football Association, 25 Soho Square, London W1D 4FA or by going direct to the police, social services or the NSPCC. Parkdale Sidac Football Club encourages everyone to know about it and utilise it if necessary. Parkdale Sidac Football Club has appointed a Child Welfare Officer (CWO), namely the Club Secretary, in line with The FA's role profile and required completion of the child protection and best practice workshop. The post holder will be involved with designated person's training provided by The FA. The CWO is the first point of contact for all club members and parents or guardians regarding concerns for the welfare of any child or young person. They will liaise directly with the CFA CPO and will be familiar with the procedures for referring any concerns. They will also play a proactive role in increasing an awareness of poor practice and abuse amongst club members. We acknowledge and endorse The FA's identification of bullying as a category of abuse. Bullying of any kind is not acceptable at our club. If bullying does occur, all players, parents or guardians should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly. Incidents need to be reported to the CWO, a member of the committee or, in cases of serious bullying contact the CFA CPO. Codes of conduct for players, parents and spectators, officials and coaches have been implemented by Parkdale Sidac Football Club. In order to validate these codes of conduct the club has clear sanctions to deal with any misconduct at club level and acknowledges the possibility of potential sanctions which may be implemented by leagues or the CFA in more serious circumstances. All prospective members will be informed of these codes. 21 Anti Discrimination Policy The following policy is recommended by the F.A. and is endorsed by the club:- Parkdale Sidac Football Club is responsible for setting standards and values to apply throughout the club at every level. Football belongs to and should be enjoyed by everyone, equally. Our commitment is to confront and eliminate discrimination whether by reason of sex, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or disability. Equality of opportunity at Parkdale Sidac Football Club means that in all our activities we will not discriminate or in any way treat anyone less favourably, on grounds of sex, sexual orientation, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or disability. This includes: The advertisement for volunteers. The selection of candidates for volunteers. Courses. External coaching and education activities and awards. Football development activities. Selection for teams. Appointments to honorary positions. Parkdale Sidac Football Club will not tolerate sexual or racially based harassment or other discriminatory behaviour, whether physical or verbal, and will work to ensure that such behaviour is met with appropriate action in whatever context it occurs. Parkdale Sidac Football Club is committed to the development of the programme of ongoing training and awareness raising events and activities, in order to promote the eradication of discrimination within its own organisation, and within football as a whole.

22 Equal Opportunities Policy The following policy is recommended by the F.A. and is endorsed by the club:- Parkdale Sidac Football Club is committed to a policy of equal treatment of all members and requires all members of whatever level or authority, to abide and adhere to this general principle and the requirements of the Codes of Practice issued by the Equal Opportunities Commission and Commission for Racial Equality. All members are expected to abide by the requirements of the Race Relations Act 1976, Sex Discrimination Act 1986 and Disability Discrimination Act Specifically discrimination is prohibited by: Treating any individual on grounds of gender, colour, marital status, race, nationality or ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual orientation or disability less favourably than others. Expecting an individual solely on the grounds stated above to comply with requirement(s) for any reason whatsoever related to their membership, which are different from the requirements for others. Imposing on any individual requirements which are in effect more onerous on that individual than they are on others. For example, this would include applying a condition which makes it more difficult for members of a particular race or sex to comply than others not of that race or sex. Victimisation of an individual. Harassment of an individual, by virtue of discrimination. Any other act or omission of an act, which has as its effect the disadvantaging of a member against another, or others, purely on the above grounds. Thus, in all the Club s recruitment, selection, promotion and training processes, as well as disciplinary matters, it is essential that merit, experience, skills and temperament are considered as objectively as possible. Parkdale Sidac Football Club commits itself to the immediate investigation of any claims of discrimination on the above grounds and where such is found to be the case, a requirement that the practice cease forthwith, restitution of damage or loss (if necessary) and to the investigation of any member accused of discrimination. Any member found guilty of discrimination will be instructed to desist forthwith. Since discrimination in its many forms is against the Football Club s policy, any members offending will be dealt with under the disciplinary procedure. The Football Club commits itself to the disabled person whenever possible and will treat such members, in aspects of their recruitment and membership, in exactly the same manner as other members. The difficulties of their disablement permitting assistance will be given, wherever possible to ensure that disabled members are helped in gaining access. Appropriate training will be made to such members who request it if at all possible using the resources and man power available.

23 Health and Safety Guidelines Prevention of injury is better than cure. The following key points will help you prevent injuries in football:- Warm up - warming up is very important and is essential in minimising the risk of injury. Warming up results in improved flexibility and prepares you not only physically, but also mentally for football activity. Warming up should include five to ten minutes of light activity before stretching. Stretching is also essential, without stretching muscles lose their flexibility and may fail to respond effectively during football. To ensure maximum safety whilst stretching the following points should be adhered to: Warm up prior to stretching. Stretch before and after exercise. Stretch alternate muscle groups. Stretch gently and slowly - never rapidly. Hold stretches for a minimum of 5 to 10 seconds. Never stretch to the point of pain. Always breathe slowly and easily; never hold your breath. Playing areas and facilities have a great role to play in injury prevention. If equipment is inadequate or faulty or the playing surface inappropriate, then the players may be put at risk. It is important that playing areas are firm and level and free from obstructions such as stones, glass etc. Weather conditions must be considered when playing football. Even in a cold climate, dehydration can occur. Players must remember that thirst is not a sign of dehydration. Dehydration can occur without a person feeling thirsty. Plain water is the best fluid replacement and ideally should be consumed before, during and after an activity. Suitable clothing on hot days also reduces the likelihood of dehydration. Cold weather conditions can cause serious muscle injury, so if a player is resting between activity, warm clothing should be worn and warming up again before resuming is recommended. Children are encouraged to have the appropriate items with them during training sessions and match days. Examples are listed below:- Shin Pads. Boots and / or trainers. Drink. Protective clothing in case of bad weather. A change of clothing. Suncream (if necessary). Other important points to consider:- Always report an injury. Players must NOT wear jewellery. Inform your Manager / Coach of any medication being taken.

24 Goalpost Safety Guidelines Making Safety The Goal The Football Association launched a major campaign in August 2000 aimed at highlighting goalpost safety throughout grassroots football. The drive comes after the deaths of nine children in accidents involving goalposts over the last few years. The campaign highlight the potential dangers of using goalposts without undertaking the necessary checks and precautions and are designed to attract as much attention as possible at local levels. The FA's campaign, which builds on guidelines circulated by the game's governing body in 1991 and 1999, identifies four easy-to-follow golden rules for the safe use of goalposts. These are: Check It - make sure goalposts are in good condition and properly constructed. Home-made goalposts never be used - they do not have built-in safety features and may be particularly hazardous for younger players. Secure It - goalposts of any size must be securely anchored to the ground. Portable goalposts must be pinned or weighted down to prevent them toppling forward, and should be removed from the pitch when not in use and stored securely. Test It - adults should test the goalposts to make sure they are stable by exerting a downward force on the crossbar, backward force on both upright posts and forward force on both upright posts. Respect It - goalposts should only be used for their intended purpose; in particular, children should not swing on them. Play Your Part The Football Association, along with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Health and Safety Executive and the British Standards Institution, would like to draw your attention to the following guidelines for the safe use of goalposts. Too many serious injuries and fatalities have occurred in recent years as a result of unsafe or incorrect use of goalposts. Safety is always of paramount importance and everyone in football must play their part to prevent similar incidents occurring in the future. For safety reasons goalposts of any size (including those which are portable and not installed permanently at a pitch or practice field) must always be anchored securely to the ground. Portable goalposts must be secured by the use of chain anchors or appropriate anchor weights to prevent them from toppling forward. It is essential that under no circumstances should children or adults be allowed to climb, swing on or play with the structures of the goalposts. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that if not properly assembled and secured, portable goalposts may topple over. Portable goalposts should not be left in place after use. They should be dismantled.and removed to a place of secure storage.

25 It is strongly recommended that nets should only be secured by plastic hooks or tape and not by metal cup hooks. Any metal cup hooks should if possible be removed and replaced. New goalposts should not be purchased if they include metal cup hooks which cannot be replaced. Goalposts which are "home made" or which have been altered from their original size or construction should not be used. These have been the cause of a number of deaths and injuries. Guidelines To Prevent Toppling (i) Follow manufacturer's guidelines in assembling goalposts. (ii) Before use, adults should: Ensure each goal is anchored securely in its place Exert a significant downward force on the cross bar Exert a significant backward force on both upright posts Exert a significant forward force on both upright posts (These must be repeated until it is established that the structure is secure. If not, alternative goals/pitches must be used). Let us all ensure that for the safety of the children, we carry out the inspection and testing of the equipment prior to its use on all occasions. The message must be:- Check it Secure it Test it Respect it

26 Club Complaints Procedure In the event that any member feels that he or she has suffered discrimination in any way, or that the Club Policies, Rules or Code of Conduct have been broken, should follow the procedures below. 1. They should report the matter to the Club Secretary or another member of the Committee. Your report should include: - i. Details of what, when, and where the occurrence took place. ii. ii. iv. Any witness statement and names. Names of any others who have been treated in a similar way. Details of any former complaints made about the incident, date, when and to whom made. v. A preference for a solution to the incident. 2. The Club s Management Committee will sit for any hearings that are requested. 3. The Club s Management Committee will have the power to: - i. Warn as to future conduct ii. iii. Suspend from membership Remove from membership
