1 Tournament Information sheet Thanks for participating in YMCA Calgary s Play it Forward Soccer Marathon. All proceeds of this event will go to the Strong Kids Fund which helps youth participate in YMCA programs locally, in Bogota, Colombia or in Ukraine, through our international partnerships. Enclosed in your welcome package you will find information about these great programs. Event Details: Play it Forward Soccer Marathon 10am 2pmm March 23, 2013 Genesis Centre 7556 Falconridge Blvd NE, Calgary, AB You have been assigned a one hour time slot to play soccer. All participants must arrive 1 hour prior to their start time in order to register, and mustt arrive to their respectivee bench area 30 min prior to their start time to receive instruction and adequately warm up. Registration fee ($30 for adults or $15 for youth 18 or under) will be reimbursed on event day to participants who raise a minimum of $100 in pledges. All pledges must be submitted on event day. Please see below for tournament rules and regulations. No physical aggression toward other players or disputing with ourr volunteer officials will be tolerated. Let s keep it fun. Tournament Specific Rules (basic indoor soccer rules to follow): This indoor tournament will consist of 2 different teams per hour from 10am 2pm. Five players and one goal keeper per team are permitted on the field at the same time. Unlimited substitutions are allowed on the fly and are recommended every 2 minutes to allow for equal playing time and to reduce injuries and over exhaustion. Goalkeeper position will be rotated through the team every goal scored/conceded unless team has a volunteer keeper for the entire duration of the game. No off sides or 3 line rule will be enforced. ALL FREE KICKS/RESTARTS ARE INDIRECT, meaning ball must be touched by at least two players before hitting the net in order for a goal to be awarded. Defensivee players must be 5 yards away in all directions. A player who receives a yellow card must sub out, but may re enter at next eligible opportunity. A player who receives a red card will be sent off the field for the remainder of the match and must leave the entire field area. Teams do not play short on field after send off. NO SLIDE TACKLES. A slide tackle that is not deemedd reckless, careless or in excessive force will be given a yellow card; should a slide tackle be deemed reckless, carelesss or with intent to injure, an automatic red card will be given resulting in a game ejection. 1

2 All players must wear some type of athletic shoe. A player is not allowed to play in socks, bare feet or cleats. Shin pads are strongly recommended but not mandatory. Matches are 60 minutes (25 minute halves, with 5 minutes intermission and 3 minutes startt up). Ball is out of bounds if it strikes the roof or netting. Indoor Soccer Rules: Object of game: The game begins by each team consisting of 5 players and one goal keeper standing at on their respective halves of the field and facing the centre line. The game is in play once the team who has possession kicks the ball forward over the centree line. The object of the game to get the ball in the opponent s net without using one s hands (players cannot touch the ball with their shoulders to finger tips). Only goalkeepers may use their hands to stop the ball from going into the net, and may only do so within their marked crease. A hand ball or any other foul will result in a stoppagee in play and a free kick granted to the opposing team. The ball must be still and the defending team must be 5 yards back before the free kick can be taken. Out of Bounds: If the ball hits the ceiling, a free kick is given to the opposing team directly under the area where the ball hit the ceiling. If the ball hits the outer net above the boards, a free kick is granted to the opposing team at the sideline nearest the area where the ball was kicked out of bounds. If the ball hits the netting behind the net, a corner kick is granted to the opposing team taken at the closest corner of where the ball was kicked outt of bounds. Once a goal is scored each team must return to their respective halves and face the centre line. The game will resume once the ball is passed forward over the centre line. The team who scores the most goals by the end of the game wins the match. 2
