ANALYSIS OF SUCCESSFUL TEAMS Who are the BEST teams? Who is on the TOP? Which teams are of WORLD class? These teams make the DIFFERENCE. WORLD CHAMPIONS: Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, and Spain (last 34 years) CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan, AJAX, etc. But every level has its TOP! You can analyze who is on the TOP in the MLS, PDL, MRL, etc. The difference is in the quality. When we know who are the best we ask ourselves the question WHY? Why are they the best at their level? Which qualities do these teams possess enabling them to make the difference? We have identified six headers where in all other qualities can be placed.

Application: When using the above analysis each coach is able to apply this at their level. Every level has its TOP! The capacity of the individuals and the team will make the difference. Every coach is capable asking a few questions so he/she will know a lot of the players and team. The question at the center of it all is how and where can my team make the DIFFERENCE? Which players have extra quality? Which players are able to make the DIFFERENCE? (defenders, midfielders, attackers) Does the team work hard? All players, or some? When defending and/or attacking. Is there good team spirit? Teamwork? What is OUR goal? Is it a realistic goal? Transition well taken care off? Does the team show great desire to win? Does the team possess scoring power?

We can ask many more questions all helping us to determine whether a team is able to make the DIFFERENCE or not. Whatever we identify as the difference maker must be trained. It is important for coaches to understand the level of play your team and players represent. 6 QUALITIES OF SUCCESSFUL TEAMS QUALITY PLAYERS (World class) HARD WORK / COMPETE TEAM WORK / TEAM SPIRIT GAME PLAN WINNING MENTALITY SCORE

ANALYSIS OF WORLD CLASS PLAYERS Having analyzed the most successful teams and the teams of absolute world class we now look at the players able to make the DIFFERENCE. So we now analyze the best players. We analyze the qualities of the best defenders, midfielders, and forwards and come to the conclusion that all these players possess the ability to dominate the 1v1 situation. Either from a defensive or an attacking position. What qualities make them WORLD CLASS? TACTICAL PHYSICAL MENTAL TECHNICAL

Overview of a World Class Player We can now create a more detailed analysis of the qualities a world class player and present this in a simple and friendly overview in which all qualities are related with each other. It becomes clear one of the four most important qualities is dominating the 1v1. When in ball possession it becomes evident you need players who are able to not just rely on their basic fundamentals but can dominate the 1v1 situation using cuts, feints, tricks, etc. It is those skills which made players such as Cruyff, Van Basten, Maradonna, Best, Zidane, Ronaldo, Messi so special! Often it is the players with those special qualities who decide the game and giving it the spectacle drawing people to the stadiums. Let's also realize these qualities can only be effective when developed with other qualities. Technical ability without vision, speed, of attitude is not sufficient to dominate the 1v1. 9 At the early stages of the technical development it s important our focus is to teach kids as many new moves & skills as possible. We are filling up the Skills box. At the same time we stimulate the player s attitude towards practice. Success on the ball will increase their confidence and personalities. After this early technical stage, the player s will start to specialise themselves in certain moves & skills they feel comfortable with and which they can use in match realistic situations.
