2 Week 1 - Session 1 - Defending 1v1 Defensive Pressure CIrcle 20 yard diameter Split players into 4 teams. On one team each player has a ball and dribbles inside the area. The other two teams must work together to try and force all players with a ball outside the area. The defending team are not allowed to make a tackle but must use body position and pressure to force the attacker out of play. Get to attacker quick Slow feet on attackers touch Angle of run, body shape Force attacker towards pressure or side line Rotate team with the ball. 1v1 Defending 20x15 yard area with 5x5 colored zones Set out field as shown. Red team get a point by stopping ball in red zone and white team get a point by stopping ball in white zone. Have two 1v1 games play at the same time, one with red team attacking one with white team attacking. Get out to attacker quickly. Slow as approach attacker. Body shape to force attacker away from scoring zone. Timing of tackle Type of tackle - poke, block. Switch teams and zone they attack.

3 Week 1 - Session 1 - Defending 1v1 Defending 1v1 20x20 yard area Set out field as shown. play 1v1 in each box to create 4v4 game. Players must stay in the zone but can pass ball to any zone. Red team attack 2 goals and white attack 2. Play is directional. Force attacker away from goal. timing of tackle Take out central line to create 2 halves and play 2v2 in each half. Game 70x50 yad area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Recognize when to apply pressure. Angle of run and body shape Recognize when to apply cover & balance

4 Week 1 - Session 2 - Defending 2v2 Passing & Pressure Cones 15 yards apart Split players into 4 groups. Players pass and follow their pass to apply pressure to the player receiving. Players try and force receiving player to the right. Players just apply pressure and do not make a tackle. Progress to forcing to the left. Get to attacker quick Slow feet on attackers touch Angle of run Body shape Players can now make a poke tackle if attackers touch gets away from them 2v2 - Pressure & Cover 25x20 yard area Split players into two teams. Players work in pairs. Defending team pass ball across to attacking team and move out to apply pressure. Attacking team score by dribbling ball through either of the 2 corner goals. If defending team win possession they counter to the 2 goals opposite. Nearest player apply pressure Angle of run and body shape second player provides cover Angle and distance of cover Switch attacking and defending teams

5 Week 1 - Session 2 - Defending 2v2 Defending 2v2 25x20 yard area Set out field as shown. White pass out for red team to attack large goal. 2 reds enter the area to create 2v2. One red holds out on edge of area. Reds can pass back to supporting red at any time at which point it becomes 3v2. Once extra red takes a touch extra white defender enters play to create 3v3. Nearest player apply pressure Angle of run and body shape second player provides cover Angle and distance of cover Switch role of teams Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Recognize when to apply pressure. 6 Week 2 - Session 1 - Attacking At Speed Technical Practice On coach s command, first player in each line sprints to opposite end s tall cone to take ball. Touches must be done in 3 steps: 1) A negative touch towards end line, 2) a touch cutting back towards original line, 3) explosive touch back towards line where they speed dribble to replace ball between tall cone and sideline nearest their line. Explain that the negative touch is used to touch away from the defender and create a little space, explosive third touch to beat defender. Make sure players return ball to spot where ball was. First team to have 3 goes each are the winners. Attacking At Speed 20x15 yard area Players dribble past the central cone and shoot for goal. Player who scores first gets a point for their team. If both players score the point goes to who ever scores first. Head up to see position of GK. Shoot for power or placement Dribble around the cone and shoot for the goal they start next too.

7 Week 2 - Session 1 - Attacking At Speed Attacking When Under Pressure 20x15 yard area Red player dribbles to goal and shoots once through the cones. As soon as the shot has been taking player from the white team attacks other goal. Red player must run back and try and prevent the shot from white. Once white player shoots next red attacks the goal. Process continues. Big first touch into space Use laces to push ball without breaking stride Last touch to position the ball to shoot Check position of GK Shoot for space in goal Can only dribble to cone without another player from your team on it Must dribble through central area. Combination with 1st passer before turning to dribble Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible Coach re-starts the game by throwing the ball to a different player each time. Vary the throw to test different types of ball control to start the game.

8 Week 2 - Session 2 - Dribbling & 1v1 Technical Passing & Dribbling 25x25 yard area with 5x5 box in the middle Players work in groups of 4. 2 players on a cone with a ball, 2 players in central area. Central player checks out of middle zone to get a ball from team mate and dribbles to an outside cone. Player who passed ball moves into central area. Receiving skills Move into most space to receive Awareness of free cone Awareness of traffic Can only dribble to cone without another player from your team on it Must dribble through central area. Combination with 1st passer before turning to dribble 1v1 15x20 yad area A dribbles the ball between the cones and steps on the ball for B,then A sprints around the far cone to give chase to B. B takes possession of the stopped ball and speed dribbles to try to penetrate the 4 yd shooting zone in front of the three balls at the opposite end of the grid to shoot and knock a ball off. Attack at speed Positive touch into space Change of speed or direction to beat defender Use move to beat defender Move start position of attacker give defender less recovery distance.

9 Week 2 - Session 2 - Dribbling & 1v1 Small Sided Game 20x30 yard area. 5 yard end zones Play 4v4. Teams gain a point by dribbling into the end zone and stopping the ball. Exploit 1v1 situations with creative footwork & moves Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible Team can score a goal with 5 passes in a row

10 Week 3 - Session 1 - Dribbling & 1v1 Technical Practice Cones 10 yards from central cone Split players into even groups. First player in line dribbles ball through 2 small cones and then towards larger center cone. Player performs 1v1 move past the cone before passing to line opposite. Players perform a scissors move to the right past central cone. Close control through the cones Correct execution of scissors technique Accelerate after move Scissors to the left Roll Overs Roll over/step over 1v1 20x15 yard area Red attacks diagonally to try to beat the white and score in the goal. Cant shoot until into the shooting zone. Once shot has been taken next white attacker can attack opposite goal. Red attacker now becomes defender. Attack at speed Positive touch into space Change of speed or direction to beat defender Use move to beat defender Quick recovery as defender. 2v2

11 Week 3 - Session 1 - Dribbling & 1v1 Small Sided Game 20x30 yard area Play 4v4. Teams gain a point by dribbling into the end zone and stopping the ball. Exploit 1v1 situations with creative footwork & moves Once team scores in one end they can turn and attack the other end. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible Coach re-starts the game by throwing the ball to a different player each time. Vary the throw to test different types of ball control to start the game.

12 Week 3 - Session 2 - Dribbling & 2v1 Technical Practice Cones 15 yards apare Have one player on each cone. All others on start cone with a ball. Players with ball dribble towards each player and play a give and go. Once at end dribble back to start. Rotate players on cone and repeat each exercise. Quality of technique 2 one touch passes Pass and run around player to get ball back Players on cone now hold ball and serve: Side foot volley Chest/Volley 2v1 Circuit 15x30 yard area. Each zone 10x15. Set field out as shown, each zone 12x10 yards. 1 defender in each zone. Defenders are restricted to zone. 2 attackers enter the area and try and get past the 2 defenders into the end zone to score. Attackers move to next zone once ball is out of play or goal is scored. If defenders win the ball they try and dribble to start line to gain a point. Dribble to beat defender Dribble to draw defender close for pass Combination Play Rotate defenders. 1st time finish inside end zone

13 Week 3 - Session 2 - Dribbling & 2v1 Small Sided Game - Overloads 30x40 yard area Play 4v4. Multiple fields if large numbers. Number each player 1-4. Coach calls out a number and color (e.g. red 3) that player must leave the field and perform 10 juggles before re-joining the game. If team scores when numbers up goal is worth 2 points Exploit overload Quick forward passes Bravery in 1v1 situation High pressure without the ball Call more than one number If more than one field, player who s number is called moves to next field. Small Sided Game 70x50 yard area with 3 equal thirds Play 7v7/8v8/9v9/ depending on squad size. Have 1 attacker and defender in each end zone with all other players in central zone. Team tries to pass ball into CF to break into end zone. 1 player can move in and support to create 2v1. Attacker must retreat to central zone once ball is out of play or in GK hands. Exploit overload Quick forward passes Bravery in 1v1 situation Really emphasis players trying to recognize an overload and increasing speed of play CF can drop into central zone but must be replaced by another team mate in attacking zone.

14 Week 4 - Session 1 - Passing Technical Passing 15x15 yard box 2 players on each corner of the box. Ball is passed to the left. One player receives by setting for team mate to move the ball onto the next corner. Ball stays on the outside of the box. Quality of passing Movement to create angles to set ball and continue forward passing 2 balls at once. White pass to white going right, red pass to red going left. Rondo with SAQ 10x10 box Have 2-3 players behind each set of cones. 1 player from each line move through the cones with fast footwork into the square. Play 3 v 1 with the defender the player coming through the blue cones. Rotate to net set of cones once defender clears the ball from the box. Quality of foot work through cones Quality of one touch play Awareness of next pass 2 touch play inside the box

15 Week 4 - Session 1 - Passing Small Sided Game 20x20 yard area Play 4v4. 4 Zone game. To gain a point team must get the ball into all 4 zones without opposition touching the ball. Ball can be passed or dribbled between zones. Exploit 1v1 situations with creative footwork & moves Switch point of attack to attack open zone. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible Team can score a goal with 5 passes in a row

16 Week 4 - Session 2 - Passing Technical Practice 25x25 yard area with 10x10 box in the middle Ball is passed into central player who receives and passes out to the right. Players follow passes. Friendly passes to help team mate Good first touch into space Keep ball close when dribbling Play to the left Players turn, dribble through the square and pass to line opposite. Add defender in central square to apply pressure. Technical Passing 20x20 Yard Area. 3 Teams of 4 Players. One Team spread into the Four Corners, Inside the Area not Outside. Can move a Couple of Yards either way. The other Two Teams Inside the Area. When the other team wins possession they try to connect their pass. Keep Possession of the Ball. 6 passes = 1 Goal Quality Passing and Control. Don t Block Lines into the Corner Players. Try to be Positive and Play Forwards with Split Passes. Can t go back to same corner player twice in a row.

17 Week 4 - Session 2 - Passing Forward Passing 24x20 yard area split into 12x20 yard areas 2 teams play inside area with one team used as target players. 2 middle teams combine and keep possession for as long as possible using outside men and neutral player as overload. Outside player objective to find the spare player. player. Player awareness on the ball. Move the ball quickly, looking for the spare player. Always be available when in possession. Same as before but end players only on one touch they can now pass to opposite end player as an extra support Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible

18 Week 5 - Session 1 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play Technical Practice Cones 10 yards apart Players pass to the right and move to the left. Check away from cones to create angle to receive. Friendly passes to back foot Good first touch into space Pass left move right. Technical Practice 10x10 yard boxes 3v1 in each box with yellow player who plays on middle line and acts as 4th player for both boxes. Yellow player must be aware of both boxes and join in where possible. If white wins possession they switch with the red that gave possession away. Quality of pass. Quality of footwork through equipment Now have central player receive and pass behind them to continue circuit through both exercises. How many balls can be moving?

19 Week 5 - Session 1 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play 3v2 25x50yard area GK starts with the ball and distributes to either of the waiting wide players. They attack to create 3v2 to goal. If goal is scored GK gets ball and throws to wide players to attack opposite end. Players in wide areas must line up as shown, red, white, red, white. If defenders win possession they pass to their wide player and attack other way. Positive in possession Attack at speed Movements to drag defenders away Combinations to create shooting opportunities. Add in another attacker and defender into area to create 4v3. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible

20 Week 5 - Session 2 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play Passing & Awareness Cones 15 yards apart Split players into 4 groups. Players pass and follow their pass and join line opposite Quality of pass Eye contact with person passing too. See passing lane before playing pass Add in a 1-2 combination before next pass Passes are now diagonal. Players must run through central area to increase traffic. Small Sided Game Play 4v4. 4 Zone game. To gain a point team must get the ball into all 4 zones without opposition touching the ball. Ball can be passed or dribbled between zones. Exploit 1v1 situations with creative footwork & moves Switch point of attack to attack open zone. Progression Add neutral player to give team in possession an overload

21 Week 5 - Session 2 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play 3v2-3v4 GK starts withe the ball and distributes to any red. Reds move into area and play 3v2. As Red takes 1st touch the 2 white players on the corners run to the small cone and back and then join the area to create 3v4. Can attacking team get a shot on goal before 2 defenders can recover. Attack at speed Positive touch into space Early shot on goal Combination to shoot Add in CF who stays in the game each time. Game Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible

22 Week 6 - Session 1 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play Passing & Awareness 10x10 yard boxes Groups of 5 around a 10x10, One player works in the middle around mannequin/tall cone which acts as a distraction. 2 balls with outside players who act as feeders to middle man. 1. Middle man plays 1 or 2 touch passing the ball out to any other player without a ball. What parts of body is the player going to use? Where is the next available pass? Does the player need to take an extra touch? Player who passes into center now moves into middle while player who passes out replaces player they pass too. Technical Practice 10x10 yard boxes 3v1 in each box with yellow player who plays on middle line and acts as 4th player for both boxes. Yellow player must be aware of both boxes and join in where possible. If white wins possession they switch with the red that gave possession away. Quality of pass. Possession with quick transition Have 1 white player in each zone and 1 target, 3 reds in one end with one red in other end. Play 3v1 with red in possession. Team tries to make 3 passes before transferring the ball to the other end. Player can pass or dribble the ball to get into other zone. 2 reds must go with the ball to create new 3v1. White players can rotate but must always have 1 in each zone. If white wins possession get ball to target and then transition to become attacking team, and reds divide into zones and a target player. Awareness of next pass Play 1 touch or take touch to draw defender close Recognize when and how to transition ball. 3 transitions = goal

25 Week 6 - Session 2 - Receiving Skills & Attacking Play 3v2 25x30 yard area Position a large goal at 1 end of the pitch with 2 smaller goals/targets in either corner at the opposite end. Equidistant, but slightly set back, from the 2 smaller goals mark out a 2x2 yard holding area. Mark out a curved line from 1 side of the pitch to the other with the start and end points being approximately. Attack at speed Positive touch into space Change of speed or direction to beat defender Pass or Dribble Have defenders play different types of passes out to attackers (Chipped, driven, curved) to test the attackers control. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Firm passes with inside of foot Receive with back foot Positive first touch where possible

26 Week 7 - Session 1 - Counter Attacking Running With The Ball Cones 20 yards apart Red player runs at speed with the ball before passing ball between cones to next player who repeats. Challenge players to play the pass on their 4th touch. Positive touch out of feet. Use laces to push ball into space. Try and avoid breaking stride. Once player passes ball through cones they now run around orange cone and try and tag the player they passed to on the back for a point. Pressing 3v2 25x30 yard area Play starts with a long range shot from attacker to GK. Once GK catches the ball play is live. GK must play with 2 defenders and try and work ball to the two white target players. 3 red attackers enter play and try to gain possession and attack the big goal. If goal is scored play is re-set. If defenders get ball to target players they switch and become new target players. Pressure, cover & balance Don t get split with pass Intercept, spoil, delay Quick transition to get shot on goal when possession is won. Add in another attacker and defender into area to create 4v3.

27 Week 7 - Session 1 - Counter Attacking 3v2 25x60yard area GK starts with the ball and distributes to either of the waiting wide players. They attack to create 3v2 to goal. If goal is scored GK gets ball and throws to wide players to attack opposite end. Players in wide areas must line up as shown, red, white, red, white. If defenders win possession they pass to their wide player and attack other way. Pressure, cover & balance Don t get split with pass Intercept, spoil, delay Quick transition to get shot on goal when possession is won. Add in another attacker and defender into area to create 4v3. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Recognize when to apply pressure. Angle of run and body shape Recognize when to apply cover & balance

28 Week 7 - Session 2 - Counter Attacking Running With The Ball Area: 30x20 (each zone = 10x20) All players dribbling in their respective area. Coach calls # and corresponding players race to opposite area with ball. First one across gets a point for their team. Positive touch out of feet. Use laces to push ball into space. Try and avoid breaking stride. Call more numbers to create more chaos Add a defender from each team in the middle Add an attacker from each team in the middle to combine around defender Attacking 2v1 10x25 yard area 1 player from the defending team (of 2) passes ball to attacking team and proceeds to run around flag behind attackers. The 2 attackers try to exploit the overload (2v1) and score on the small goal, before the recovering defender can restore balance (2v2). Cannot shoot until in shaded zone! If defending team wins it, they score 2 points for line soccer going the opposite direction. Attack at speed Pass or Dribble Play for 2 mins and switch roles

29 Week 7 - Session 2 - Counter Attacking 3v2 50x30 (10x10 box inside) Play starts with a GK. Middle teammates of the GK who starts it, shoot out of 10 yard box (other middle players can only defend if ball comes in 10-yard box). If defending team wins it, middle players have to return to the 10 yard box and the corresponding team s middle players can join. Attack at speed Pass or Dribble past defender Switch attackers and defenders. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Recognize when to apply pressure. Angle of run and body shape Recognize when to apply cover & balance

30 Week 8 - Session 1 - Crossing & Finishing Close Rage Finishing 1 passes to 3 who shoots for far post. 4 passes to 2 who shoots for far post. Players move from 1-2 and 3-4. Head and knee over ball. Strike ball with back foot. Set a goals target for the team to reach in a time limit. Goal only counts if ball hits inside side netting. Cross Over Runs & Finish Wide player dribbles towards end line before crossing ball. 2 attacking player make runs around the cone and attack the ball. Furthest player from the ball makes front post run and nearest player drops away to make back post run. Attackers to speed up run and crosser looks down to strike ball Timing of run. Head and knee over ball. Strike ball with back foot. Play for 2 mins and switch roles

31 Week 8 - Session 1 - Crossing & Finishing Small Sided Game 70x50 yard area. 3 even thirds. 10 yard wide zones. Play 8v formation. Divide field as shown. Play 1v1 in each wide channel, 2v2 in the central area and 2v1 in each end zone. Players are restricted to zones. Wide players can only go in middle zone or attacking zone. If ball is in other wide zone wide player can move into central attacking zone to support CF and create 3v2 in final zone. Look to get ball wide and crosses into the area. Teams can only score from crosses. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Look to get ball wide and crosses into the area.

32 Week 8 - Session 2 - Crossing & Finishing Close Rage Finishing Cones 20 yards from goal Player 1 takes a touch and shoots for goal. Player 2 combines with a give and go with player 1 and shoots for goal. As player 2 shoots, player 3 dribbles towards end line and crosses the ball. Player 1 & 2 make a cross over run and shoot for goal. Type of cross low driven lofted to back post Cut back Rotate groups. Cross Over Runs & Finish Cones 40 yards from goal Players work in teams of 3. Player 1 pases to 2 who sets to 3. Player 1 makes a run wide after first pass and receives pass from player & 3 make run towards goal for cross from 1. Timing of run. Head and knee over ball. Strike ball with back foot. Competition - Each team have 3 attacks. Team with most goals win. Goal must be 1 time finish. Add a defender

33 Week 8 - Session 2 - Crossing & Finishing Attacking Crosses 40x60 yard area. 10x10 box in the middle Player 1 passes to player 2 who turns and dribbles centrally. Player 1 overlaps and gets return pass. 4 players from central area move out and attack cross from player 1. Once cross has been played, players on other side of field repeat the process. Type of cross low driven lofted to back post Cut back Add 1-2 defenders between central zone and goal. Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Look to get ball wide and crosses into the area.

34 Week 9 - Session 1 - Shooting Shooting Races 10x25 yard area Players dribble past the central cone and shoot for goal. Head up to see position of GK. Shoot for power or placement Competition - First player to score gets a point for their team. Dribble around the cone and shoot for the goal they start next too. Receive to shoot 10x30 yard area. Cones about 18 yards from goal Ball is passed out to attacker who receives with positive touch and shoots for goal. Passer moves out to be next shooter, player who shoots moves to other line. Good first touch to set for shot. Head up to see position of GK. Shoot for power or placement Competition - Reds v white. Team with most goals after 5 minutes.

35 Week 9 - Session 1 - Shooting 1v1 Cones 15 yards form goal White team starts by attacking 1v1 the goal opposite them and score against the red team. Once the ball is dead or scored, the white player must quickly transition to stop the next red player scoring in the goal opposite them. Continuous play until balls run out. Attack at speed Change of speed or direction to beat defender Use move to beat defender 2v2 Game 70x50 yard area Play 8v8 or 11v11 depending on numbers Both teams play or formation Look to get ball wide and crosses into the area.

36 Week 9 - Session 2 - Shooting 1v1 Move to Finish 36x20 yard area. Cones 18 yards from goal First players in both A lines go at the same time, Players drive with the ball up to middle orange cones - Fake left and go right and take a shot on goal They then collect their balls and join the closest A line. Players on B then repeat as soon as shot is fired Power = Laces, Upper body over ball, follow through, arms out to balance Placed = Side Foot, Swing Leg Back, Upper-body over ball, find corner. After you shoot become second forward and lay off next player, collect ball and go to the back of your usual line. Finishing 36x36 yard area split into two. 4v1 in each half. GK distributes to any player who looks to shoot for goal. CF in the attacking half follows up any rebounds off the GK. If large numbers have another team collect balls and return to coach until they rotate into the game. Attack at speed Change of speed or direction to beat defender Have two 1v1 games play at the same time

37 Week 9 - Session 2 - Shooting Receive to shoot 70x50 yard area split into equal thirds 1 in each end zone and 5 in the middle zone. Directional game - team attempts to work ball to their attacking player in end zone and score. Whatever team plays into their teammate in the endzone can send one player in to create a 2v1. Once ball is dead, play is restarted by goalkeeper who plays a free pass to defender.
