WU03 The Cone Sweeper (All Ages) Team relay game in which players will have to get cones from the ground while dribbling the ball. Separate the team in 2 groups, and place them facing 2 lines of 4-5 cones separated by 3 yards. The first player in line will have a ball on his/her feet. At the count of 3, he/she will dribble to any of the cones, grab it, and dribble back to his team to pass the ball to the next person in line, who will dribble to grab another cone and so. The first team grabbing all cones from the ground wins. Play 2-3 rounds, giving at least 1 minute of rest in between rounds. Size & Time: yards, 10 minutes with 2 minute of rest if the game has to be restarted cones 2 balls Dribbling coordination of players Constantly touching the ball while dribbling instead of kicking the ball and following it The transfer (pass) of the ball between players must be in between 1 yard Keeping the lines properly 3
WU04 The Ball Master (All Ages) Possession game between two opponent teams with the help of a neutral team. Each team will will choose a player to be The Ball Master, and will only reveal his/her identity to the coach. Each team will be in possession of the ball for one of the two 4 minute rounds that will be played. During that time, they will have to try to get the maximum number of points by passing the ball to the master. The coach will be counting points, adding one every time The Ball Master receives the ball, and subtracting one every time defenders win the ball. When the defending team recovers the ball, they will return it to the offensive team for them to continue playing during their 4 minute round. The team with the highest point count wins. Use 2 or 3 neutrals, depending of the total number of players playing. Size & Time: yards, 2 rounds of 4 minutes and 1 minute for rest after each, playing a total of 10 minutes. 4-8 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams Players giving continuous aids to team members Attacking players constantly moving to empty spaces Defending players constantly disabling empty spaces Occupying the space homogeneously Team cohesion 4
WU07 EYSA Technical Warm-Up (All Ages) Set of individual technique drills with the objective of getting players to do 1,000 touches in 25 minutes. Size & Time: yards, 25 minutes Drills: 4-8 cones to define the playing zones 1 ball per player 1. 1v1 Core (10 min) Have players dribble continuously 8-10 minutes. Teach players how to perform 1v1 Core moves to unbalance and beat defenders. Coaches should first demonstrate, then have players perform slowly to perfect the technique. When teams have mastered moves, move on to next moves and do periodic review repetitions. 1v1 Core moves to introduce: Pull Back Step Over Scissors Cruyff V-Turns Stop-n-Go etc. 5
2. Ball Comfort (10 min) Ball mastery touches, trained stationary and with movement, to allow players to be comfortable with ball and parts of foot. For example: Change of Direction Chop/Inside Foot Cuts/Outside Foot Toe Taps Foundations Change of Pace etc. Example: 3. Juggling: (5 min) Teach players proper juggling technique which helps players with timing, touch and control. Start with: 1. Bounce juggle (drop, ground, juggle, catch, repeat) 2. Progress to (drop, ground, juggle, ground, juggle, repeat) 3. Progress to (juggle, catch, juggle, catch, repeat) 4. Juggle without ground and hands Tip: lock ankle, toe slightly angled upward, let ball come to closer to ground (juggle touch the ball closer to ground), etc. 6
MP03 Sideline Rondo (10-U13) Four offensive players playing on the outside lines of a square will have to keep the possession against one defender playing in the middle. Attackers must move constantly on their lines to offer free lines of sight and support to teammate in possession of the ball. Passes must be done on the ground, using a maximum of 2-3 touches per player. The defender will take an attacker's place when winning the ball, or if an offensive player does more than 3-4 touches, makes a bad pass, or doesn't receive with the back foot. Defender stays an extra round if ball passes under his/her legs. Size & Time: 5 5 yards, minutes with 1 minute of rest every 4 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the defender Maximum of 2-3 touches per player Back foot mandatory 7
MP02 Four Corner Rondo (All Ages) Three offensive players playing on the outside of a square will have to keep the possession against one defender playing in the middle. Attackers must be at cone to receive the ball while defender attempts to win the ball. Diagonal passes are not allowed, so ball must be played to teammate on cone left or right (forming a natural triangle). This encourages players to move without the ball to give support, and the basic formation of a triangle. The defender will take an attacker's place when winning the ball, or if an offensive player does more than 2-3 touches, makes a bad pass, or doesn't receive with the back foot. Defender stays an extra round if ball passes under his/her legs. Variation: Alter distance to alter difficulty If needed, an extra player can join the attacking team using a pentagonal shape Size & Time: 5 5 yards, minutes with 1 minute of rest every 4 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the defender Maximum of 2-3 touches per player Back foot mandatory 8
MP07 Keeping the Ball (All Ages) Possession game between two opponent teams with the help of a neutral team. The objective will be to keep the ball away from the defenders, using the help of the neutral team, who will always play with the team having the ball. The difficulty of the exercise increases as the ratio of neutral players in comparison with the main teams' members is lowered. The coach will have to decide the right number of neutral players required to be able to have continuity in the passes while not making it impossible for defenders to recover the ball. For teams that are starting to learn the sport, it will be better to have a higher ratio of neutral players. As players get better, we will be lowering the ratio, but always having neutrals in the pitch to give superiority to the team in possession of the ball. Based on the number of players that we have, we could use the following player distribution: For players without experience: 6-7players: 2v2 + 2/3 neutrals 8-9 players: 3v3 + 2/3 neutrals 10 players: 3v3 + 4 neutrals players: 4v4 + 3/4 neutrals 13 players: 4v4 + 5 neutrals 14 players: 5v5 + 4 neutrals For players with experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7-8 players: 3v3 + 1/2 neutrals 9-10 players: 4v4 + 1/2 neutrals players: 5v5 + 1/2 neutrals players: 6v6 + 1/2 neutrals 9
Also, in order to maximize passes, players must have a limit of 2-5 touches before passing the ball. If they do more touches, the ball is given to the defending team. Change the neutral players every 8 minutes during the pause. The team achieving the maximum number of consecutive passes wins. Size & Time: Size will vary depending on the number of players and the difficulty we want to achieve. The smaller the size the harder it will be for players to keep the possession. Use the following size recommendations, and adapt them based on what you see while they play: 6-7 players: yards 8-9 players: yards players: yards players: yards Play for minutes with 1 minute of rest every 8 minutes 4 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams Offensive players going wide trying to occupy the whole pitch the best way Offensive players moving to empty spaces to help partner with ball Defensive players closing passing options Overall team communication and coordination Passing and receiving technique 10
MP09 Progressing to End Zone (All Ages) Possession game between two opponent teams with the help of neutral players in which the attacking team will try to score by receiving a pass in the opponent's end zone after making at least 6 passes. By forcing the teams to make 6 passes before trying to score a point, we teach players to elaborate the play. During the game, we will promote ground level and short passes, which will incredibly help the development of the players. Based on the number of players that we have, we could use the following player distribution: For players without experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7 players: 2v2 + 3 neutrals 8 players: 3v3 + 2 neutrals 9 players: 3v3 + 3 neutrals 10 players: 3v3 + 4 neutrals 11 players: 4v4 + 3 neutrals 12 players: 4v4 + 4 neutrals 13 players: 4v4 + 5 neutrals 14 players: 5v5 + 4 neutrals 11
For players with experience: 6 players: 2v2 + 2 neutrals 7 players: 3v3 + 1 neutrals 8 players: 3v3 + 2 neutrals 9 players: 4v4 + 1 neutrals 10 players: 4v4 + 2 neutrals 11 players: 5v5 + 1 neutrals 12 players: 5v5 + 2 neutrals 13 players: 6v6 + 1 neutrals 14 players: 6v6 + 2 neutrals In order to maximize passes, players must have a limit of 2-5 touches before passing the ball. If they do more touches, the ball is given to the defending team. Also, make sure that players do not stand still in the end zone waiting for the pass. They must get there right before receiving the pass. When a team scores a point keeps the ball by restarting the game in their defensive zone. Change the neutral players every 8 minutes during the pause. Variations: Adapt the number passes required to score, but make sure they make at least four. Size & Time: Size will vary depending on the number of players and the difficulty we want to achieve. The smaller the size the harder it will be for players to keep the possession. Use the following size recommendations for the playing zone, and adapt them based on what you see while they play: 6-7 players: yards 8-9 players: yards players: yards players: yards For the end zone, just add 3-4 yards on each side. Play for minutes with 1 minute of rest every 8 minutes 12
4-10 cones to define the playing zone 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams Rational use of the space by offensive players Defensive players closing passing options Players continuously moving to empty spaces for support Players not waiting in the end zone Passing and receiving technique 13
CD05 The Hot Potato (All Ages) Asking the team to make a close circle, they will be standing up facing in, and passing the ball to each other as fast as possible as if it was a hot potato. As the speed of the passes increase, the lack of control will too, eventually leading to the ball being dropped to the ground. When that happens, all the players must fall to the ground as if they faint. Whoever falls last gets a penalty point, and after the game, the player with less penalty points wins. Size: 5 5 yards, 5 minutes One ball Players not throwing the ball intentionally to the ground or to others Kids having fun 14
CD02 It's My Ball! (U10-U13) 1v1 team game. Divide the team in two groups, assigning numbers to each group member so that we set individual battles between players. Then, place the groups in 2 separate lines as shown in the image, with a distance of yards in between teams. To start the game, throw a ball in the middle and say a number out loud. The corresponding player of each group will have to run to the ball, try to control it, and dribble back to where his team is to get a point running away from the pressure of the opponent player. The team with more points wins. With odd players, one player will be assigned two numbers. Size: yards, 5 minutes 4 cones to define the starting lines for each team 1 ball Optional: color pinnies to differentiate the teams High level of concentration Maximum speed of execution Defense not giving up 15
