3 A Welcome from our Chairman It is a privilege to be elected for the second year as chairman of Blaenavon Blues. What a transformation the last six months has been, we now have our own clubhouse something this club has never had in its 65 years history. We also have a pitch which is one of the best playing surfaces in Gwent. Brewery and Visitors Centre Now Open on the Gilchrist Thomas Industrial Estate. Supporters of We have also taken over the junior section which is going to be a challenge for us as we hope to achieve better playing surfaces and improve the facilities to give them the best possible chance to improve and develop into good footballers. We have very good coaches at all levels and my thanks to them for taking so much time and commitment to the cause. Lastly i thank all my committee members who have worked tirelessly to achieve what we now have. Best of luck to our visitors today and we welcome you into our new clubhouse after the match. 7 Fairfield United versus Blaenavon Blues Annual Memorial Match for Former Player Jeff Webb Fairfield United have joined forces with local rivals and old friends Blaenavon Blues to remember a former player. Gwent County League Division One League Table Jeff Webb sadly passed away on 26th May 2009, aged 46. The two clubs have decided the best way to remember Jeff is with an annual game in Jeff s memory. Fairfield United s committee approached Blaenavon Blues who have confirmed that they would be honoured to compete for the annual trophy. Jeff played for both Fairfield United and the Blaenavon Blues and was a superb natural footballer, not the biggest, but could read the game better than most and would always put his body on the line for his side. The first game that the two clubs will compete for the Jeff Webb Memorial cup will be when the sides meet at the Memorial ground (Home to Blaenavon Blues) in the Gwent County league division one fixture. The game will kick off 6:15pm on Tuesday 21st August. would like to wish Fairfield all the best in todays encounter and we hope that the Jeff Webb Memorial cup is a huge success and will continue to be for many years.
