9 Attendance Policy As with any activity or sport, athletes must provide a certain level of commitment to both themselves as an individual participant as well as their teammates to achieve a high level of success. In order to develop our team, it is essential that our runners participate in practices as often as possible. However, we recognize our athletes have a variety of interests and are continually exploring new opportunities. Therefore, the cross country attendance policy is as follows and will be strictly adhered to: Runners must provide a full schedule of practices to be missed by the second practice to be regularly excused. To be a member of our team, runners must participate in four out of five practices each week. We understand appointments, emergencies, etc. may arise causing a runner to miss a practice or two throughout the season. Communication is key--simply let a coach know 24hrs in advance or as soon as possible. is fine, but we prefer face-to-face communication from the runner. Should a runner need to leave practice early, arrangements must be made with the coaches 24 hours in advance to ensure the runner is back at Indian Woods when his/her ride is to arrive. Because of limited coaching staff, early dismissals may not always be possible. Communication is key! When numbers to a meet are limited, preference will be given to those runners who have committed to the full practice schedule five days a week. We strongly encourage runners to limit their commitment to one athletic event daily to prevent strain on the body. However, we leave this decision to the discretion of the parents/guardians. Please know that as coaches we are committed to developing our student athletes as runners and citizens. We strongly encourage runners to participate in full practices five days a week and participate in team events and activities.
10 Race Day Uniforms White or black tights/shirts with no other coloring or logos Headbands must be navy/gray/black No jewelry Team policy Watches are acceptable but CANNOT be GPS All athletes must ride the bus to the meets and return home with the team with the exception of August 30 & October 6.
