WHERE WE STAND At 50-73, the Cakes have assured themselves a losing record, marking the ninth non-winning campaign in 10 years since the franchise s last playoff berth in Colorado Springs, which owns a six game lead in its division, is the only PCL club with a longer postseason drought (1995). 2005: Rick Short homers twice as New Orleans beats Iowa, 9-5. Short s batting average stands at.402, the highest batting average anyone carried that late into the season in more than 40 years. He would finish at.383 and win the PCL batting crown.
