2 Radio and Puppet Plays By Cenarth Fox Cenarth Fox 1994 ISBN PUPPET PLAY Swine Lake [a ballet in four acts] Puppets Scenery Costumes The corps de ballet 2 pigs, Princess Von Baddie, Baron Von Baddie, Siegfreid, The Queen Mum, Royal Personages and Piggy-Wiggy ACT ONE the gardens of the royal castle ACT TWO the lake in the forest ACT THREE a ball in the castle ACT FOUR the lake in the forest The corps de ballet are pigs who dance on their hind legs and wear tutus. The princess has enchanting regal costumes as does the QUEEN MUM and all the royal personages princes, princessess, etc. The BARON has a dark cape and SIEGFRIED wears hunting/bushwalking clothes. PIGGY-WIGGY has a tutu but brightly coloured gumboots. (The entire play is a ballet with the only words being spoken by the narrator. The timing is important. The narrator speaks, the music plays and the dancers dance. The CD contains all the music with a small break between each piece) Action CD begins. Curtains are closed. Music plays. This is THE OVERTURE. The music stops and the NARRATOR speaks. Prepare CD for FIRST ACT MUSIC. This is a story about love; a story about bravery and death, about courage and magic. Our story begins in the beautiful gardens of the royal castle. The Queen Mum is holding a garden party. She has invited many royal guests and hopes her son, Prince Siegfried, will meet a princess and fall in love. But the Prince is more interested in exploring the beautiful forest and is not interested in garden parties. One of the party guests is Baron Von Baddie and his daughter Princess Von Baddie. The Baron owns the forest and is a nasty, horrible rotter. He hopes his daughter will marry Siegfried. And so, with Act One of Swine Lake, let the garden party begin! Curtains open as music for ACT ONE is played. The QUEEN MUM goes to SIEGFRIED and has a chat. You have to get married etc. SIEGFRIED shakes his head. He wants to go hiking and fishing and swimming and white-water rafting. The royal guests start arriving. The QUEEN MUM introduces SIEGFRIED to various people but he is not interested in social chit-chat. He wants to go hiking. BARON VON BADDIE brings his daughter PRINCESS VON BADDIE to meet SIEGFRIED and the act finishes with SIEGFRIED and the PRINCESS being pleasant to one another. The music stops. Close curtains. Cue next track of music ACT TWO.

3 Radio and Puppet Plays Volume One by Cenarth Fox page 34 ACTION ACTION But once the garden party is over, Prince Siegfried leaves for the forest. He loves the outdoors. He strides down a country lane when suddenly he spies a beautiful pig. He is absolutely captivated, bowled over and excited all at the same time. He follows the pig into the forest until he comes to a stunning lake. Darkness arrives and by the light of the moon, Siegfried watches the beautiful Piggy-Wiggy dance with her friends. But Siegfried does not know that the evil Baron Von Baddie owns the forest and the lake and everyone in the forest is trespassing. Nobody has noticed the sign Trespassers will be privatised! And so let us away to the lake in the forest and the second act of Swine Lake. Music for ACT TWO starts. Open the curtains. SIEGFRIED enters and moves to one side hiding in the tress or bushes. We can just see him watching. Then the CORPS DE BALLET enter and dance. Then PIGGY-WIGGY enters and dances exquisitely. SIEGFRIED is fascinated. The music begins a slow pulselike sound. The PIGS are frozen in formation. SIEGFRIED steps forward. The PIGS panic and scatter. They exit. PIGGY-WIGGY is alone and turns to face SIEGFRIED. The music starts racing and she runs around the lake and exits. SIEGFRIED watches all this, pauses and then races off in pursuit as the curtains close and the music finishes. Music stops. Cue music for ACT THREE. Siegfried is madly and hopelessly in love with Piggy-Wiggy. The Queen-Mum poo-poos the idea and insists he marry a real princess. Mum is staging a royal ball tonight and Siegfried must choose a royal princess to be his wife. He is told to forget the pig in the pond. Now Baron Von Baddie knows that Siegfried has been bird-watching in the Baron s forest so he hatches a plan to trick Siegfried. The Princess Von Baddie wears a beautiful ball-gown but also the same brilliant wellies [gum-boots] worn by Piggy- Wiggy. What a clever disguise. Siegfried, being a man, will naturally be fooled by this and fall in love with Princess Von Baddie. The happy couple dance at the ball when suddenly the music goes all strange. Everyone stops dancing and is shocked. Piggy- Wiggy arrives and Siegfried has been tricked. Piggy-Wiggy again races away and Siegfried is heart-broken. He blubs like a baby as the ball ends in misery. So put on your glad rags and let s party in Act Three of Swine Lake! Music for ACT THREE starts. Open the curtains. The ball is in full swing. Guests arrive and are presented to the QUEEN MUM and SIEGFRIED. BARON VON BADDIE arrives with PRINCESS VON BADDIE and SIEGFRIED is thrilled. He leads the PRINCESS on to the dance floor and they waltz their socks off. This is difficult because PRINCESS VON BADDIE is wearing those big rubber boots. The other guests watch the happy couple and life seems wonderful. Suddenly the music again becomes dramatic. Enter PIGGY-WIGGY who watches from the side. Everyone turns. SIEGFRIED is stunned. PIGGY-WIGGY turns and disappears. Pause. SIEGFRIED races after her. The BARTON moves to comfort his daughter. The QUEEN MUM looks after her disappeared son and the curtains close as the final notes are played. The music stops. Cue ACT FOUR music

Five actors - four characters and a narrator For sound effects [] you need a clock ticking and a door opening and closing. Theme music is used at the beginning and end. From the CD you can use Theme Music 3 and of Ticking Clock. Characters -,,, Very and Spec Very Very Very Very Theme Music 3 for several seconds then crossfade with ticking clock. Clock continues. [Whispering throughout] Shhh. Mind that table. [Whispering throughout] What table? Ouch. Hey! I can t see a flamin thing. And keep down. Can you shine a light over here? I haven t got a torch. What? How do you expect to open the safe without any light? Trust me. My magic fingers will do the trick. Here it is. Give me a hand. That clock s starting to get on my nerves. Expensive clock, expensive house. Lots of lovely loot. Now what was that combination? It s here on this bit of paper. Blast, it s too dark to read. We need a light. No lights. It can be seen from the rooms upstairs and out in the street. Well it s impossible to read. I think it s one, four. Ah, two, seven, two. One, four, two, seven, two. I think. Bad news,. You re wrong. It can t be wrong. I bribed the bloke myself. This is definitely the right number. Not for this safe it ain t. You ve been ripped off. But I paid him good money. That s stealing that is. What can we do? Well you could always call the cops. Ha, ha; very funny. But seriously can you still open the safe? I can try but it might take a while. We ve got this far so give it a try. Okay. Here goes. [Suddenly scared] What was that? I can t hear the safe if you keep talking. I heard something outside. Someone s coming. What! You said no-one s home. Just hide. Quickly. Hide! Door opening This could mean a very nice return. You ll make millions out of the deal. So you keep saying. And you re not the first person to tell me that. But this one is guaranteed. You invest with me and next month you ll need your accountant to help with your laundry business. I only deal in cash. Of course. Have you got it now? Naturally. Aren t you scared you ll be robbed? Not here. This place is like a fortress. No-one can get in this house let along crack the safe.

How much can you spare? Very Will two hundred be enough? Two hundred thousand is a start but you won t get much of a return. Very I meant two hundred million. Oh that s different. So you want to hand over two hundred million in cash to me here tonight? Very Is there a problem? Only with the size of my briefcase. But aren t you worried? I mean I could have a couple of thieves hidden in this room right now. Very [Laughing] Very funny. I told you, this place has more alarms than you ve had original thoughts. Now let s east first and then we ll get down to business. You re the boss. Very [Voice fading] Come on, back to the dining-room. Door closing [Slight pause] They ve gone. Did you hear that? You re standing on my fingers. Two hundred million. Oh, sorry. Listen, we ve hit the jackpot. How big is two hundred million in cash? In coins we d need two trucks and three days. Not coins, notes - fifties and hundreds. Can we carry it? We can try but first there s a problem. What s that? We have to open the safe. So get safe cracking. I ve got the number. It s one, four We ve tried that. It doesn t work. Well try again. I did. It doesn t work. Look, give me the piece of paper. I ve get better eyesight than you. [Pause] Oh you idiot. It s not one, four, two, seven, two. It s fourteen, two hundred and seventy-two. So? That s here. Apartament 14, street number 272. Okay, so I ve got the wrong piece of paper. Well hurry up and find the right one. Here it is. Three, six, one, eight, one. Three six I can t believe it. Two hundred million. That s more than Will you shut up! I m trying to listen to the safe.
