4 VENTSPILS YOUTH COUNCIL We are a youth organization (society), which uses non-formal education methods organizing various events trainings, seminars, camps, informative campaigns for young people (13-25 years old) about topics that are important for them career, business, educational possibilities, health and healthy lifestyle, participation, politics, mass media etc. Association have signed a treaty with municipality making us responsible for youth work in the city. Since we are hosting and coordinating EVS volunteer in Ventspils Youth house and Ventspils library.

5 VENTSPILS YOUTH HOUSE Ventspils youth festival 2018 will happen in the territory of Ventspils youth house. What is Ventspils Youth house? Youth house it's a open space where young people age can learn new skills by participating in non formal education activities. Youngster can carry out their own initiatives by creating and hang out after school playing board games, reading books. Youngster can participate in non formal events for youngsters, such as - Board games nights, Book clubs, Youngsters talk clubs, art exhibitions,concerts, sport activities etc Youth house is collaborating with local schools and provide them with non formal training's and team building activities.

6 THE PROJECT As Ventspils is a relatively small town with limited number of active young people, we believe that young people as foreign volunteers will be able to bring new ideas and energy into the city, which will also encourage local and young people in the Ventspils region to be more active. Thus the idea for project "Young city of tomorrow" to organize Ventspils Youth festival and other activities throughout a month of voluntary work was born. Even though there already are informative events and activities in Ventspils that will promote the recognition and awareness of Erasmus + mobility, it can be further enhanced with the help of volunteers. Conscious intercultural learning process would help the local community to look closer to the new and not yet known cultures as well as to break the existing stereotypes. The project "Young city of tomorrow" will take place from as a short-term group volunteering activity. The project will involve 10 volunteers (2 from each country) age from Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Croatia and Italy. Volunteers from the NEET (youngsters not in Employment, Education and Training) group are especially welcomed. The objectives of the project: *To introduce a new tradition in the town of Ventspils, in which local youths of the town and district will work together to create and organize "Ventspils Youth Festival". Ventspils young people and volunteers will be the ones who will create the content and activities of the festival so that they are suitable specifically for young people from 13 to 30 years old. *Continue the activities of the Ventspils Youth House and association "Ventspils Youth Council", offering youth and young people of the NEET group not only in Ventspils, but also in the Ventspils region, new non-formal education activities and promoting youth participation in local government processes. *To offer an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, traditions and habits of other countries. To provide information and opportunity for the local community, including young people, to learn about the opportunities offered by volunteering activity and the European Solidarity Corps. *The project "Young city of tomorrow" volunteers will be actively involved in the "Ventspils Youth Festival" activities building, which will be suitable for all target groups of young people and the NEET group from Ventspils and Ventspils district.

7 SKILLS & COMPETENCIES The volunteers will get the opportunity to develop and improve their: language and digital skills teamwork and networking empathy and active listening effective communication youth work and youth policies presentation skills and facilitation organizational skills in coordinating a youth festival

8 MAIN ACTIVITIES 1. week : Arrival in Ventspils; Getting to know each other, team building activities; Getting to know Ventspils and closest towns (road trips); Participating in local festival in Ventspils- Sea festival 2018; Getting to know the idea of Ventspils Youth festival; Latvian lesson. 2. week : Team building activities; Creating cultural evening in Ventspils Youth house; Task dividing and activities planing for Ventspils Youht festival; Getting to know closest Latvian towns (road trips); Latvian lesson. 3. week : Team building activities: Working on activities and promotion of Ventspils Youth festival: Participating in local festival - Ghetto Games festival(promoting Youth festival and Erasmus+ program); Latvian lesson.

9 MAIN ACTIVITIES 4.week : Team building activities; Working on organizing the territory of Ventspils Youth festival; Help to organize all the logistics of the festival; Help to build the stages, clean the space where the Ventspils Youth festival will happen; Participating and organizing Ventspils Youth festival; Participating in Ventspils towns celebration parade; Help to clean everything after, dismantle the stages ect. 5.week : Team building activities; Getting in order the territory of Ventspils Youth festival; Getting to know closest Latvian towns (road trips); Latvian lesson and good by party; Travelling back home!
