Advertising...advertising@PEELinc.com, MANAGER S CORNER Using Swim Diapers Effectively Keep Them Covered The swim season is upon us and we are looking forward to a successful year. One of the issues that we experienced quite a few times at the Residents East pool last year was the contamination of the pool with fecal matter. In all of those cases, the reason for the contamination was instances of young children being ill with loose stool. Persons that have been suffering from this ailment should not visit the pools. Swim diapers will not contain the waste and the result will spread germs into the pool resulting in the closure of the facility for the remainder of that day. Some pathogens continue to be shed for up to two weeks following the end of the symptoms; therefore, Summerwood Community Association is requesting that residents wait two weeks after symptoms have subsided before visiting the pools. It times of good health, precautions must be taken for young children that are not toilet trained. A swim diaper is required at all times and should be worn under a bathing suit. Swim diapers serve the purpose of containing solid waste. When not used properly, the swim diaper may not protect against water contamination. Please follow these guidelines below to ensure a safe swimming environment. 1. All children that are not toilet trained must wear a clean, permanent or disposable swim diaper. 2. Parents/caregivers must be diligent about promptly changing any soiled diapers. 3. Caregivers should wash their hands with soap and warm water after each diaper change. 4. A bathing suit must be worn over the diaper. 5. Children should be closely supervised by a parent or caregiver and diapers should be changed each time they become soiled. While accidents cannot be avoided, if everyone follows these guidelines, we hope to have fewer pool closures. Have a great summer! 2 Summerwood Life - June 2014 Copyright 2014 Peel, Inc.

It was a HUGE SUCCESS and all 100 saplings were sold! Thank you to all who had purchased trees to plant in their yards, those who donated the saplings back to the community, Troop 9670, Troop 9668, Troop 9654, Spencer Company, CIA Services and the Beautification Committee. Spencer Company allowed the beautification committee to purchase the saplings at cost, delivered the saplings to the community, and have arranged to help the three Girl Scout Troops plant the donated saplings within the community under their supervision. This really shows how committed Spencer Company is in giving back to Summerwood. During the event the Girl Scouts made thank you cards for all who purchased the trees and many of them wrote about what Arbor Day and Earth Day meant to them. Of course they were all spectacular and can t all be published but a couple of the writings are included below. All of the writings are available for viewing on website. It was a pleasure to see the younger generation involved with sustaining the beauty of our community and the earth. Without trees we would not be here trees make oxygen witch means we would be extinct help save the earth (and us) by planting trees. Kenna Fuqua (Troop 9668) wrote: Arbor Day is specile to me. Without trees there would be no animals, people, or pretty sights. People & animals would not be here because the trees give free air/oxygen. The trees let kids climb and make pretty sights. That is why we need trees. The beautification committee looks forward to future events. If you have suggestions for the Beautification Committee please feel free to forward them on to one of the members. Copyright 2014 Peel, Inc. Summerwood Life - June
4 Summerwood Crime Watch Committee Missy Steadman Elected Chairperson The Summerwood CWC meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 at the central clubhouse and Summerwood residents are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in the evening. Both HPD and HCSO law enforcement officers are very often present to give updates on what is happening in Summerwood and what crimes might be on the rise in surrounding areas. After the crime reports are made by our officers, block captains and residents are given an opportunity to give information, ask questions, voice concerns, and meet the officers that protect us. Michelle Missy Steadman was elected as chairperson of the Summerwood Crime Watch Committee at the March meeting. Missy, her husband, and their two children have been very active in many aspects of community life in the several years they have been residents and have a vested interest in the community well-being. The CWC looks forward to yet another great year in our efforts to find solutions to problems, communicate and promote safety awareness in Summerwood, and provide relevant information. Come by and take a peek at our new addition. -The Summerwood Beautification Committee Summerwood Welcomes a New Park Many things have happened throughout our lives, our communities and our country that makes us reflect on our daily activities and reprioritize things within our lives. With this thought, the Summerwood Beautification Committee (SBC) has spent the past couple of years designing and coordinating with Spencer to build a new addition to Summerwood, Reflection Park. We invite everyone to come by and take a moment to sit, relax and enjoy nature within our fine community. Reflection Park is located at Cannon Falls Lane off Hunters Lake Way at Darby Rose Lane. The park is still a work in progress, the SBC has some minor touches to incorporate; a sign, additional benches and a water feature to bring serenity to the area. Please be respectful of the area and others who what to reflect on nature and events in a quiet peaceful area. The park is also a wonderful place to allow the children to have some green space to play in.
