8 Hi Well, here we are with another month gone by tax time is rearing its ugly head followed very shortly by Christmas no doubt. The Autumn Show has been and gone, congratulations to all who entered. From all the comments I have heard it was a small but quite a variety of different orchids to what we see in the winter and spring shows. Speaking of shows the Winter Show is on from 23rd to 25th of July at the Forum so get ready to display some lovely orchids and help out manning the show. Also I have heard a whisper that the Orchid Society was offered another Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings on the 28th of June and that the Committee have agreed that if there are enough people to do it then the proceeds go toward funding the Spring Show. Thank you in advance to everyone who could help out. In this issue is a copy of the flyer for the Spring Show please see Meryl to get some copies of this to distribute around your neighbourhood. If you are running short of potting medium Norm is getting a list for Perlite and Pine Bark together so contact him to get your order in. July is our soup kitchen meeting so bring your appetite. Margaret Nelson is going to coordinate this so contact her with any queries that you have and if you can bring anything along to help it would be appreciated. Tony Domoney is looking for books that identify orchids with photos of the plant as well as the flower. He has some plants that he would like to identify but they haven t flowered so he is looking for something that would help him out. If you know of any books that may help please contact Meryl so that she can pass it on to Tony. The other suggested course of action if you have this problem is to bring these plants to a meeting for other members to identify. There is a wealth of experience in the club so why not use it? Could I ask everybody to please print the entry slips for plants you are benching clearly? To have these recorded properly the names put on the slips must be as correct and legible as possible. I take photos of your entry slips to identify the plants I put in the OT so if you can try to get everything as clear as possible, it will save the Registrar and myself a lot of time. To finish on a lighter note, isn t this rain lovely? As I type it is pounding on my tin roof, what a lovely sound. Judy
