6 TORQUE the Holden Club magazine February page 6 President s Report Bruce Lethborg Hi Guys, February is here and the action has started. The committee has had some changes. Frank Rogan has resigned his position of vice president. I d like to thank Frank for his service to the club over the last few years and also for his work on the 40 th celebrations last year. Tamara Dennett has stepped down as treasurer. Tamara did not restand for treasurer but stayed on in a caretaker position, but she was unable to continue. Thanks to Tamara for her efforts, it has been appreciated. We need a member to fill the treasurer s position. If you feel you can do it please let one of the committee know. Ray Cardwell has stepped in as vice president. Thanks to Ray for helping, very much appreciated. I m excited, 2013 is the year to build the club back to the way we were. I would like to see as many of you at general meetings for a chat and a drink, there are so many names I see in the memberships and I don t know what you look like. Come on down to The Golden Gate Hotel and meet us have a drink, or a meal and have chat to us about your car or see if you can help us at one of our events this year. I m also excited at a possible alliance with HSV owners club. I recently met with one of their committee member for some initial discussions and came away from the meeting with a very positive feeling and an invite to their next committee meeting to discuss an alliance. This is happening before the general meeting, so I will be able to give you an update then. Sandown is on!!! Yes we are running our sprint event on the 28 th of April. We were going to cancel the event due to clashing with PIARC sprint at the Island, but we have decided to run it. So get your cars ready and support our event. We will be needing helpers for Sandown, and those of you who have Club plates, this is an opportunity to get a signature towards your renewal and Phil now has a complete list of cars on club plates supplied by Vic Roads, so you may get a phone call asking for help. Several of our members checked out the new surface at Phillip Island for the first sprint of the year and from all reports I got the times tumbled with Mark Kakouri getting into the 1m.40s, can t wait to get there myself. The first round of the Victorian Motorkhana Champs is on this month, Feb 24, and it will be back at Werribee after being shut down for the last three years. On the same weekend there is a team running in the Porsche Club of Victoria 6 hour regularity at Sandown. Phil Slater in his Honda, Ron Klien in his LC Torana V8, Tony Cott in his 69 Camaro, Vlad Kowal in his VH and myself in the VN, will be out there flying the colours for the club and see if we can get a podium as Mark Kakouri s team did last year. 7 TORQUE the Holden Club magazine February page 7 Secretary's Report Phil Slater Welcome to the February Magazine with the competition season getting under way with motorkhanas and sprints beginning. I was very proud to be made a life member of the club at our presentation night at Cresco Park as I am in very illustrious company. Congratulations to all award winners. We have some great competitive events coming up with the first round of the VMC and the PCV 6 Hour relay this weekend in which we have a team. Our very own stand alone Sandown sprint is on 28 th April and we will need as many members as possible to either enter or help. Remember that you will need to help at events to get you re your Club Permits signed this year. We need competitors, helpers and officials for these events so get out there and get involved. Another event that s coming up is the Phillip Island Historic Festival of Speed on the 9 th and 10 th of March and we have some tickets available for those displaying their cars so let me know if you are interested in coming.
