1 Special Awards JLT MSA CLUB OF THE YEAR Solway Car Club 57-year-old Solway Car Club runs 22 events a year, with particular focus on affordable grassroots events, especially for juniors. It has introduced first aid certified training for marshals, obtained amateur radio licences for 15 members, and travelled widely to ensure that MSA training is attended and maintained by its licensed officials. club gives a high priority to safety in all it does, constantly scrutinising its own events to look for further improvements. FIA BEST MARSHAL Lynne Kendall FROM: LINCOLNSHIRE Lynne, the 2013 JLT MSA Volunteer of the Year, becomes the third British winner of this prestigious international award in four years. FIA accolade recognises her dual roles as a Marshalling and Training Instructor. Mumtaz Tahincioglu, President of the FIA Volunteers and Officials Commission, said, Lynne stood out amongst the many motivated and efficient personalities who have played a major role in motor sport or helped to improve it. JLT MSA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR OVERALL Richard Ashton FROM: WEST YORKSHIRE Richard wins the award for his sterling efforts in highlighting the importance of safety among clubs and marshals nationwide. As an MSA Training Instructor, he has undertaken innumerable safety and first aid training sessions over many years. He makes marshals aware of how they can actively help at the scene of any incident, and also continues to encourage new people into the sport as marshals and rescue crew with his infectious enthusiasm. BWRDC LORD WAKEFIELD TROPHY Claire Williams Lord Wakefield Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards available to women in motor sport. In 2014 Claire served her first full season as Deputy Team Principal of Williams F1, taking a leading role in one of the most successful grand prix teams of all time. Under her control, the squad returned to the sharp end of the grid, taking one pole position and nine podiums en route to third place in the constructors championship ahead of Ferrari. JLT MSA VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR MARSHAL Karen Kearns FROM: OXFORDSHIRE Karen is an Oxford Motor Club member who excelled in She recruited more than 200 marshals to run her club s new Endurance Road Rally, and competitors remarked that it was the most comprehensively marshalled event they had ever seen. In addition to her role with Oxford Motor Club, Karen volunteers on other club events. RENAULT MSA YOUNG JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR Scott Mitchell FROM: KENT Scott, 22, spent most of last year as assistant editor of Autosport, a role that saw him edit the weekly magazine s national section covering the spectrum of UK motor sport. For this award he submitted a strong array of news and features, showcasing writing talent and a knack for uncovering exclusive stories. He has since been promoted to features editor and will cover the BTCC in MSA 04 Night of MSA 05 Night of

2 Special Awards MSA BRITISH CADET KART CHAMPIONSHIP Teddy Wilson FROM: SOUTH LUFFENHAM, RUTLAND Teddy won the final round of the MSA British Cadet Kart hip and with that came the title. It was a busy year for the Fusion Motorsport driver as he also raced to third in the Little Green Man series. This success follows his fourth place in the LGM in RENAULT MSA YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR Adam Pigott FROM: LINCOLNSHIRE Adam, 22, photographs an array of different motor sports, with particular focus on sports cars and rallying. His submission for this award displayed a great mix of artistry and technical ability, capturing stunning images of the sport s people, cars and events. MSA BRITISH SHORT CIRCUIT KART CHAMPIONSHIP Henry Easthope FROM: WEYBRIDGE, SURREY Henry had all but won the MSA British Kart title at the penultimate round at Larkhall. Taylor International Motorsport SODI kart racer then finished second at the final round at Little Rissington in the Cotswolds to secure the championship for the KZ1 class. RSF MSA YOUNG DRIVER OF THE YEAR Sam Bilham FROM: WEST YORKSHIRE Junior rally driver Sam was crowned the RSF MSA Young Driver of the Year following a five-way shootout at izone, Silverstone. accolade is awarded each year to a member of the MSA Academy s AASE programme a three-year course delivered in conjunction with Loughborough College. Eighteen-year-old Bilham impressed with his all-round ability to adapt to a race environment and the progression he displayed throughout the day at izone. MSA BRITISH LONG CIRCUIT KART CHAMPIONSHIP Paul Platt FROM: WARRINGTON, CHESHIRE Paul claimed his record-equalling fourth consecutive MSA British Superkart hip. Like the previous year, the title was decided at Cadwell Park. Paul s championship lead was reduced to just one point when he retired from race one but he won race two to prevent Dan Clark from ending his run of success. MSA 06 Night of MSA 07 Night of

3 MSA BRITISH CAR TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP Mark Hoppe FROM: SHERBORNE, DORSET Mark was a dominant force in Car Trials last year; he won the MSA British hip and the South West title, plus the coveted endof-season BTRDA Gold Star trial too. Hoppe previously competed in Autograss and has shown that the skills learnt in that arena transfer well to the Trials discipline. MSA BRITISH SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP Colin Calder FROM: THURSO, CAITHNESS MSA British Sprint hip was a family affair in 2014; Colin successfully defended his championship, while he and daughter Heather finished one-two in eight consecutive rounds. Heather was runner-up in the points table and also won at Croft. other competitors didn t get a look in as the Calder clan dominated. MSA BRITISH SPORTING TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP John Fack FROM: CHIPPING SODBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE title race was close all year and John triumphed in a last-round showdown with former champion Ian Bell. John and his passenger, Maxine Fack, pulled out a supreme performance on the final hill of the season that moved him into third position, and secured enough points to win the championship. MSA BRITISH DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIP Andy Robinson FROM: STRATFIELD TURGIS, HAMPSHIRE Weather washed out the first three rounds, yet Andy won two of the three events that weren t rain-affected and he collected his fourth title. A highlight was becoming the first British driver to break into the fivesecond bracket; Andy ran 5.968s at 269mph in the FIA European Finals at Santa Pod in September. MSA BRITISH AUTOTEST CHAMPIONSHIP Richard Pinkney FROM: WESTERLY, COUNTY DURHAM Richard won his second MSA British Autotest championship in fine style, taking victory in five of the eight events he entered. Reliability problems with his Caterham 7 failed to get in the way of his championship charge and Richard will be keen to add a third title to his haul this season. MSA BRITISH HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Moran FROM: LUDLOW, SHROPSHIRE Scott s domination of the MSA British Hill Climb hip continued with his fifth title. Yet the series is becoming increasingly competitive and Moran had to work hard to fend off five or six extremely rapid competitors. Nonetheless, the Gould driver had extended his all-time run-off wins record to 122 by the end of the year. MSA 08 Night of MSA 09 Night of

4 MSA BRITISH CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP Mike Moran & Tony Coid FROM: WARRINGTON, CHESHIRE Three victories were enough for Mike to win the MSA British Cross Country hip at the final round at Walters Arena in Wales. He and co-driver Tony Coid went into the event level on points with Martin Cox, and the title was won in part by maintaining a solid reliability record. MSA BRITISH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Daniel McKenna & Arthur Kierans FROM: CLONE, COUNTY MONAGHAN & SMITHBORO, COUNTY MONAGHAN Daniel won a shootout against five other young drivers to become the Pirelli Star Driver for prize was a season in the BRC; he and codriver Arthur grabbed the opportunity with both hands and together they won four events and the title in their Citroen DS 3 R3. MSA BRITISH HISTORIC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP David Stokes & Guy Weaver FROM: DURSLEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE & TETTENHALL, WOLVERHAMPTON It was almost a perfect season for David and Guy, who won the MSA British Historic Rally hip and added the Gravel Cup and the Asphalt Cup to their trophy haul. Competing in a BDA-powered Ford Escort Mk1, they won their class six times and wrapped up the title on Rally Isle of Man. MSA BRITISH MANUFACTURERS RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Citroën UK Citroën s domination of the MSA British Rally hip continued. All of the frontrunning crews used the French firm s DS 3 model and it won every round as a result. past three BRC champions Keith Cronin, Jukka Korhonen and Dan McKenna have all won the title in the R3- specification DS 3. MSA BRITISH JUNIOR RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP Gus Greensmith FROM: BURY, GREATER MANCHESTER Gus burst onto the rally scene in 2013 and won the British Junior 1000 championship. Stepping up to the British Rally hip, Gus won the Junior category on five out of six rallies, finished every event and reached the overall podium on the first leg of the season-ending Rally Isle of Man. MSA BRITISH RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP Julian Godfrey FROM: HEATHFIELD, EAST SUSSEX Julian s stranglehold on the MSA British Rallycross hip continued as he racked up his fourth successive crown. He won five rounds and was defeated on just one occasion. Rallycross is growing internationally and Julian is playing a significant role in that resurgence via his engine tuning firm. 5 BRITISH GT CHAMPIONSHIP Marco Attard FROM: OCKHAM, SURREY A strong grid meant Marco had to maintain consistency in his BMW Z4 and he did that with the help of team-mate Alexander Sims. With Alexander missing a round, Marco took the championship on his own after wins at Oulton Park and at Spa. He scored a further three podiums across the nine rounds. MSA BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP - MANUFACTURERS MG MG6 GT was a strong package that was enhanced by a CFD programme over the winter and it was the only machine that could consistently battle the ebay Motors BMW. A strong driver line-up of Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff meant the MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save team won the championship by almost 100 points. BRITISH FORMULA 3 CHAMPIONSHIP Hong Wei Martin Cao FROM: HUNAN, CHINA Martin started the year with a string of seven second-place finishes. His first win came at Thruxton in August, followed up immediately with a second victory. In total Martin won four races in his Fortec Motorsportsrun Dallara-Mercedes to become China s first British F3 champion. Nine pole positions from 21 races proved his speed. MSA BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP Colin Turkington FROM: PORTADOWN, NORTHERN IRELAND Colin took his second MSA British Touring Car hip title during a stellar year. He took eight race wins, including five from a six-race midseason period. A solid second half of the year meant the championship was all but won by the final meeting at Brands Hatch.
