2 Dear Parents, Welcome! We are excited to begin our 24 th year of MAYBA. The program has been extremely successful and we are always striving to make it better. The program has brought quality baseball skills to a greater number of our youth and has given them confidence on and off the field. Players that have been developed in the MAYBA program have gone on and excelled at the high school and college levels. All members of the current Marshall Tigers Varsity team came through the MAYBA system. One of MAYBA s goals is to develop continuity between our lowest levels and our highest levels. One of our programs strengths over the years has been its coaching and instruction. We have continued to keep a solid group of teachers and coaches together to instruct your children. Chace Pollock, Marshall Head Baseball Coach leads our staff. He has been involved in the program for the past 12 years and will also coach the VFW Black this summer. Blaine Schnaible, Marshall High School assistant coach, returns for his 23 rd year with MAYBA. Kenzie Krowiorz will direct our MAYBA in house league for the summer. Kenzie is currently a junior at SMSU he has also helped out in the community as a Marshall Hoops Club coach and a little league baseball coach. Other workers for MAYBA will be: Ethan Hoppe, Derek Long, Brandon Labat, Tyler Vaughn, Kenny Morris, Brock Boerboom, Cody Greve, and Matt Ellinghuesen. Our goal has always been to develop the best baseball players we possibly can and have consistency of what is being taught from the lowest levels to the highest levels. We feel very good about where we are at, in relation to our goal. While we feel good about where we are at, we are always looking to improve. We are hosting five home traveling tournaments this summer. All of our tournaments are Minnesota Sports Federation State Qualifying Tournaments. MSF only makes so many tournaments state qualifiers, and we are honored to have all of our tournaments in this class. It is a sign of the quality program we run. We also will be hosting one MSF state tournament, the 13B level the weekend of July 27 th -29th. The information in this manual provides you with everything you need to know about MAYBA this summer. If you have questions or concerns, call us or come talk to us personally. We truly want to work with you, the parent, to make the best possible baseball program for your child. 5 Matt Ellinghuesen MAYBA FEES The fees for participating in MAYBA are as follows: MAYBA 9 year old fee: $150 Players will be placed on an in house team. They will play one night during the week, possibly two nights (depending on number of teams), and practice two days during the week under the instruction of the MAYBA staff. Includes a hat and in-house tee shirt. MAYBA year olds fee: $195 Players will be placed on an in house team. They will play two nights during the week and practice two days during the week under the instruction of the MAYBA staff. Includes a hat and in-house tee shirt. Traveling Fee: $125 There are evaluations for the traveling teams. This fee includes participation in four away tournaments and one home tournament. If you make the State tournament, your team entry fee will be covered by MAYBA. The teams gate fee will be need to be covered by the parents. You are not allowed to travel if you are not a part of the daily practices and in town MAYBA league. Fee includes weekly practices and travelling hat and jersey. 14-VFW Fee: $250 MAYBA will have two 14 s and VFW teams. The 14 s/vfw will Black & the Orange. Junior High Fee: $90 Marshall Community Services will provide Junior High baseball. Please sign up through their website. Practice will begin on March 27, 2017.
