SOUVENIR CITY: The Dodgers, winners of three in a row, continue their six-game homestand (3-1) with the second of three games against the D-backs following last night s 10-2 win. Los Angeles is a seasonhigh 17 games over.500 and leads the Giants by 4.0 games in the NL West, its largest divisional advantage of the year. Following the Arizona series, the Dodgers will embark on a 10-game road trip, their longest of the season, with games against the Marlins, Yankees and D-backs. The Dodgers record at home (.625) is the second best in the National League, trailing only the Cubs (51-20,.718). The Dodgers are unbeaten in their last nine home series against the D-backs (8-0-1), last dropping a set to Arizona at Dodger Stadium June 10-12, Los Angeles has posted a 22-7 home record vs. the D-backs in that span, while outscoring Arizona in those 29 games. DOING IT ALL: Corey Seager, a top candidate for National League Rookie of the Year honors, finished a triple shy of the cycle last night, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Seager continues to rank among the NL leaders in hits (167, 2 nd ), runs (91, 5 th ), doubles (38, T-1 st ), total bases (283, 5 th ), batting average (.316, 5 th ), multi-hit games (49, T-3rd), extra-base hits (65, 6 th ) and slugging percentage (.535, 8 th ). Seager s 24 home runs are the most ever by a Dodger shortstop and are the third most by a Los Angeles rookie, behind only Mike Piazza (35, 1993) and Joc Pederson (26, 2015). The club is averaging 1.22 home runs per game this year (167 HR/137 G), their most since 2004 (1.25 HR/G) and on pace to be the fourth-highest mark in Los Angeles history. According to Stats, LLC, prior to last week, the Dodgers hadn t pitched four consecutive rookie starters since they were in Brooklyn, Sept. 8-10, 1952 (Ken Lehman, Billy Loes, Ray Moore, Johnny Rutherford). Kenta Maeda picked up his 14 th win of the season last night (14-8), allowing just one run on three hits and striking out eight in 6.1 innings, and is tied with Kazuhisa Ishii (2002, 14-10) and Hyun-Jin Ryu (2013, 14-8) for the second-most wins by a Los Angeles rookie, behind only Rick Sutcliffe s 17 in 1979 (17-10). CLOSING IT DOWN: Kenley Jansen ranks among the National League s best in saves (41, 2 nd ), ERA (1.82, 4 th ), opponents batting average (.153, 3rd), WHIP (0.67, 1 st MLB) and strikeouts (88 in 59.1 innings, T-4 th ), and is just three saves shy of his career high of 44, set in He has posted just the seventh 40-save season in franchise history and Jansen s next appearance will be the 400 th of his career.
