1 LOS ANGELES DODGERS (91-40) at Arizona Diamondbacks (75-58) RHP Kenta Maeda (12-5, 3.76) vs. RHP Zack Greinke (15-6, 3.14) Thursday, August 31, :40 p.m. PT Chase Field Phoenix, AZ Game 132 Road Game 64 (39-24) Day Game 37 (26-10) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish Radio: AM 570 (Eng.); 1020 AM (Span.) BOUNCE BACK: Following last night s 6-4 defeat to the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers have dropped four consecutive games for the first time this season and for the first time since May 18-21, Los Angeles is hoping to turn things around this afternoon, as it looks to avoid getting swept for the first time this season. The Dodgers have also not lost back-to-back series since the beginning of the season, when the club dropped two games of a three-game set to the Rockies and two of three to the Cubs from April After today s game, the Boys in Blue will travel to San Diego and will start a three-day, four-game weekend series against the Padres tomorrow night, with a doubleheader on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Dodgers have won 17 of their last 23 games on the road since the All-Star break and hold the second best winning percentage (.619, 39-24) away from home in the NL, trailing just the Nationals (41-24,.631). Los Angeles currently holds a.654 (17-9) winning percentage during the month of August, which is the best in the National League. The Dodgers are 8-7 against the Diamondbacks this season, including winning six of their last nine games against the Snakes, and are (.574) at Chase Field since This afternoon, the Dodgers play their 37 th day game of the season and currently own a Major League best.722 winning percentage in those contests (26-10), while also winning nine of their last 11 games under the sun. NO PANIC NEEDED: Despite the loss, the Dodgers own the best record in baseball with a mark (.695), 10.5 games better than Nationals, and also hold the best record in the NL through 131 games since the 1944 Cardinals (94-37,.718). The Dodgers have won 25 of their last 34 and have gone since June 7, which is the second-best 71-game stretch in franchise history, trailing their mark from earlier this year on June 3-August 25. Los Angeles +216 run differential is the best in the Major Leagues, 61 runs better than the Indians. MAEKEN MAGIC: The Dodgers will send right-hander Kenta Maeda to the mound today for his 22 nd start of the season, as he looks to record his 13 th win of the year and snap the club s four-game skid. Maeda last pitched on Friday against the Brewers, allowing just one run on one hit (solo home run) in 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts, as he recorded the win in the Dodgers 3-1 victory. The native of Japan has been stellar in his last eight starts since July 7, going 6-1 with a 2.44 ERA (12 ER/44.1 IP) and holding hitters to just a.186 average. During that span he has struck out 46 batters against just 10 walks, while posting a 0.90 WHIP. Since the All-Star break, Maeda leads National League starters (min IP) with a 0.86 WHIP, while ranking among the best in ERA (2.52, 7 th ), opponents batting average (.181, 3 rd ), opponents OPS (.549, 2 nd ) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.13, 2 nd ) In nine career starts against the Snakes, Maeda has gone 3-2 with a 4.18 ERA (22 ER/47.1 IP) and has struck out 50 batters against just 10 walks. He has held Arizona hitters to a.245 average, while posting a 1.16 WHIP. He has made three starts against the Dbacks this season. PUIG YOUR FRIEND: Dodger right fielder Yasiel Puig continued to swing a hot bat after going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in last night s contest.
