1 Trenton Generals Game Notes Trenton Generals (15-18) vs. South Jersey Giants (18-16) LHP Matt Hornich (3-3, 3.02 ERA) vs. TBA Monday, July 27, 2015, 5:00 P.M., Game 34 of 40 Mercer County Community College, West Windsor, NJ Radio: Matt Nelson, LAST GAME: LINDENWOLD, NJ: After Brian Uliana scored the gametying run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth, the Generals lost in extras to the South Jersey Giants, 6-5 in 10 innings at the Lindenwold Sports Complex on Sunday, July 19. Joe Santospago put the Generals on the board with his second home run of the season in the top of the second. The Generals would tie the game ACBL STANDINGS WOLFF DIVISION Team W L T PCT. Allentown Quakertown South Jersey Lehigh Valley ACBL All-Star Mike Salvatore gave the Generals their first lead in the fourth with an RBI sacrifice fly to center and make it a 2-1 game. David Osnato crushed his 3 rd home run of the season in the top of the fifth to tie the game 3-3. The Generals would retake the lead in the top of the seventh on an RBI groundout by Andy Lopez to make it a 4-3 ballgame NO BASEBALL... UNTIL NOW: When the Generals take the field, it will be their first game since July 19 when the Generals finished up a fourgame road trip at the Lindenwold Sports Complex with the Giants. The Generals went 0-4 on the road trip and they haven t won a game since July 13 at Mercer County Community College in a 4-1 win over the Staten Island Tide. It was also the last time the Generals played at home and was also the same day Jim Maher got his 100 th career win as the Head Coach of the Generals. NOT THE LAST GAME: The Generals were supposed to play their season finale against the Giants, but Mother Nature has forced the Generals to play some makeup games following today. The Generals will play a home-and-home-series with the Tide on Tuesday at home and Thursday at the College of Staten Island. The Generals will then play a doubleheader at the North Jersey Eagles and the Jersey Pilots on Saturday and Sunday to wrap up the regular season. THE ALL-STAR GAME: Four Generals players had the opportunity to play in the 21 st annual ACBL All-Star Game in Quakertown, PA on Thursday night. Mike Salvatore, the only position player from the Generals, went 2-4 with the game-tying RBI single in the top of the ninth and a strikeout. Matt Hornich got the call to start the All-Star Game pitching the opening inning and allowed no runs on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts. Karl Blum got to pitch the fourth inning and gave up no runs on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts. Cole Creighton was on the mound for the seventh inning and gave up no runs on no hits, a walk and a strikeout for the Kaiser Division All-Stars. HOT STREAKS: Andy Lopez has been one of the hottest player for the Generals in the midst of their four-game losing streak. Lopez is 5-15 (.333) during this skid with four doubles, two runs scored, and a strikeout in the last four games. Joe Santospago is 4-11 (.364) with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Brian Lawler is 4-13 (.308) during this losing streak with a double, an RBI, a walk, four strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch in the last four games. Mike Pfenninger has also done well in this stretch. Pfenninger is 4-12 (.333) with a double, a run scored, two stolen bases, four strikeouts and a hit-by-pitch over the last four games. STARTING PITCHER: Hornich will make his seventh start of the season when the Generals take the field. Hornich last pitched when the Generals played at the Giants on July 19. He gave up two runs on one hit, three walks and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Hornich received a nodecision for his efforts. For more on Hornich, please see next page.
