Frederiksborggade is one of the main streets leading to Nørreport Station, a major transport hub in the inner city of Copenhagen, connecting metro, S-trains and busses. Several high-priority bus lines pass along Frederiksborggade, 24 hours a day. Frederiksborggade is also a prioritised route for cyclists, leading to Nørrebrogade, one of the streets with most cyclist in all of Copenhagen. The street has a lot of shops. The big food market Torvehallerne close to Nørreport Station attracts many visitors, especially in the afternoon. There is car and bicycle parking along much of the street cars and cyclists pass the street on an average day. But the use of the street changes a lot over the course of the day. At rush hour, especially the bike tracks get very crowded. Shopping is most intensive later in the day. During weekend, the area has many pedestrians even late at night. At night busses run every 30 minute.

Litauens Plads is a plaza located in Vesterbro, one of the most dense areas in Copenhagen. On weekdays, the plaza is used as school yard for Oehlenschlagergade School, both for playing, sports and after-school activities. Litauens Plads is also used by local citizens for recreation. The plaza is surrounded by traffic and parking on three sides. This causes a barrier between the plaza and the nearby buildings. Bicyclists and pedestrians need to cross the plaza. Another challenge is that citizens not always feel safe in this area during evening and nights. The plaza is about to be redesigned in order to meet all these different need. But what role could ITS play in this redesign?
