2 NOTE TO RIDERS: The DEATH RIDE Tour management reserves the right, without the refund of ANY portion of the entry fees and donations collected to refuse admission to or eject any person(s) whose conduct is deemed to be disorderly, whose language is vulgar or who fails to comply with these or other event rules. Any violation of these rules by riders will result in removal from the event and any future events. Q: How do I set up my donation page on imathlete? A: As you know there is a $300 minimum fund raising commitment for each participant due by June 10, To set up your personal fund raising page go to: then search 2017 Death Ride Tour VIII. The DRT registration page will come up and on the right side under Donate Now you ll see a link Become a Fundraiser. Click on that and it will take you to a form to complete. After you complete the form and launch campaign you ll be set. NOTE: IF YOU HAVEN'T MEET YOUR $300 MINIMUM FUND RAISING COMMITMENT BY RIDER CHECK-IN JUNE 11TH YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE BY CASH, CHECK OR CREDIT CARD IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE AND RECEIVE YOUR RIDER PACKET. Q: What if I have contributors who would like to make their donation by check? A: The DRT would be very happy to accept checks. They need to be made out to: DEATH RIDE Tour - Tax ID and then mailed to: 2404 S Sedalia Circle, Aurora, CO Please make sure the check is noted with the rider's name on the reference line. Upon receipt of the check - a donation receipt will be mailed to the contributor and the donation will be noted to the participant's fund raising total. Q: Where and when is Rider Check- In? A: Rider check -in and packet pick-up will be at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Silverton, CO. Check-in will be on Friday June 9th from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM and then again from 5:30 AM 7:30 AM on Saturday June 10th. ALL RIDERS WILL NEED TO BE CHECKED -IN BY 7:30 AM ON JUNE 10TH At check-in you will receive a SWAG Bag that will include your jersey, t-shirt, hat, luggage tags, bike tags and other goodies. ALL RIDERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THE BIKE TAGS SECURED TO THE FRONT OF THEIR BIKES. If you prepaid for additional DRT GEAR you will receive it at check-in. If you would like to get additional GEAR, it will be on sale - cash, check or credit card during check-in. Additional GEAR will be limited so it's first come - first served. ALL RIDERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTO ID AT RIDER CHECK IN. All riders will sign a Waiver & Release form at registration. Riders must pick up their own packet. One packet per rider will be distributed.
3 Q: What happens if I don't show up for the event or haven't reached my $300 Fund Raising Commitment? A: In order to receive your rider packet with all included merchandise listed below - you MUST show up for the event. All no-show rider packets will become the property of the DRT after Rider Check-In has ended -7:30 AM 0n 6/10/17 If you haven't meet your minimum $300 Fund Raising Commitment by rider check-in you will be required to pay the difference by cash, check or credit card in order to participate and receive your rider packet. Q: What is included with my registration fee? A: Included with your registration fee will be the following: DEATH RIDE Tour VIII Primal jersey 2. DEATH RIDE Tour t-shirt 3. DEATH RIDE Tour hat 4. DEATH RIDE Tour Finisher Medal 5. Luggage & Bike Tags DEATH RIDE Tour VIII Schedule of Events 7. Event SAG provided by Hermosa Tours 8. Event Bike Mechanics provided by VeloSoul 9. Aid Stations with Food & Drink 10. Additional Sponsorship SWAG provided in a DRT Bag Q: Is there overnight parking in Silverton, CO from Friday June 9 - Monday June 12, 2017? A: Yes - please park anywhere you can find space on Greene Street or any other street as long as you do not block any driveways or alleys. Q: When will the DRT start out of Silverton on Saturday June 10th? A: The first group (WAVE 1) - the Original Heavenly Eleven will roll out at 8:00 AM from in front of the Wyman Hotel. The next wave and all waves thereafter will leave in 5 minutes intervals - (groups of 50s). Waves will be set up by rider number and by number of previous DRTs you have participated in. Start times for Day Two & Day Three will be listed on the Schedule of Events, which will be in your rider packet. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A GROUP START. ALL RIDERS ARE REQUESTED TO FOLLOW THIS AND NOT LEAVE EARLY. RIDERS NOT FOLLOWING THIS REQUEST MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE TOUR. Q: Do I need to wear a helmet? A: YES - MOST CERTAINLY. It is mandatory that ALL participants wear a helmet while participating in the DRT. Also ALL participants are required to sign a Release & Waiver prior to participating in the DRT. SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT ON THE DRT. The event organizers insist that you adhere to this safety information for your safety and all other event participants. While we have tried to outline the necessary information for you to have a safe ride, please remember that this event can be dangerous! Be careful, your safety is your responsibility. Ride at your own risk! Safety violators will be removed from this and future events. Ride single file and to the right at ALL times - Be alert and respectful to other riders Control your speed on descents - Use brakes sparingly and evenly on descents. Watch for overheating brakes. Watch for bumpy road conditions and cattle guards. Be aware of vehicular traffic. OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS!!! Carry extra tubes, a pump, etc. - so you are prepared if necessary. Hermosa Tours will have 3-15 passenger vans on the course daily for SAG, however, you should be prepared to fix flats and minor mechanical if necessary. Carry extra water. Drink before you're thirsty. Drink water before the ride each day and drink frequently during the ride. Plan for at least two bottles per hour. Carry extra energy food, etc. Eat before you are hungry. Eat often during the ride. Aid Stations will have energy drinks, water, snacks & limited amounts of Honey Stinger products. Your SWAG bag will include daily portions of Honey Stinger nutrition products.
4 Unexpected weather changes (cold, heat, wind, rain, hail and even snow) can quickly occur so be prepared by having extra layers of clothing. Be prepared to carry what you need on a daily basis. DON'T DEPEND ON THE SAG vehicles to carry your GEAR for these unexpected conditions. Q: Will there be logistical support and luggage transfer? A: YES Hermosa Tours will be handling ALL our logistical support and luggage transfer. Hermosa Tours will be providing 3-15 passenger SAG Vans along with a 24 ft. Luggage Truck. Each rider will receive 4 luggage tags to be placed on the luggage to be transferred. TWO PIECES OF LUGGAGE PER PARTICIPANT - MAX WEIGHT 50 LBS FOR A LARGER PIECE AND THEN A SMALLER BACKPACK SIZE. SAG VECHICLES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CARRYING DAILY PACKS. THE DRT and or HERMOSA TOURS will not be responsible for ANY personal articles left on the tour course or at Aid Stations. It is the responsibility of each participant to carry with them what they need on a daily basis as it relates to clothing. Due to unpredictable weather we suggest you carry your personal items at all times. Hermosa Tours will be setting up and managing ALL Aid Stations for the DRT. The DRT & HERMOSA TOURS will be responsible to transfer luggage - at the 50 lb. limit as listed above starting in Silverton on Saturday morning June 10th to Telluride - then Sunday morning June 11th from Telluride to Durango and then on Monday June 12th back to Silverton. The luggage will be picked-up and dropped at the following designated points: Silverton - Grand Imperial Hotel, Telluride - Mountainside Inn, Durango - Strater Hotel & Holiday Inn & Suites. Schedules of pick-up & delivery will be listed in the Schedule of Events. Q: Can I provide my own personal support (SAG)? A: YES - However it is EXTREMELY important that all personal vehicles obey ALL Colorado Traffic Laws - NO EXCEPTION! Any violations of Colorado Traffic Laws will result in rider disqualification. Personal vehicles are NOT to use DRT designated Aid Stations. Q: What about MEDICAL INSURANCE? A: Please make sure to carry your medical insurance card with you and to check your medical insurance coverage. If necessary - medical transportation from the course to a medical facility can easily EXCEED typical insurance coverage. Many places on the course could require helicopter evacuation depending on injury. ALL MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION CHARGES are the responsibility of the participants. The DRT and or Hermosa Tours will assist in any way possible to transport participants to a medical facility where possible. There will be Medical assistance on the Tour by Event Medical Specialist. Q: Will there be group dinners in Silverton, Telluride & Durango? A: Yes. Group Dinners can be purchased through the registration process. On Friday June 10 th there will be a Pasta Dinner served at rider check-in between 6 8 PM. Cost is $20.95/each. Saturday morning the Grand Imperial will have a Breakfast Buffet for $15.95/each. In Telluride dinner will be at Rustico and start at 7:00 PM cost $45/each. In Durango dinner will be at the Strater Hotel and start at 7:00 PM cost $45/each. The Strater is limited to 120 people. If the Strater sells out there will be another back-up banquet at the Holiday Inn & Suites. At each dinner there will be drawings for DRT GEAR and sponsorship prizes. This is a great way to get to know other DEATH RIDERS and talk about the adventure of the day. The DEATH RIDE Tour and Hermosa Tours wants to thank you for your participation in the 2017 DEATH RIDE Tour VIII Ride To Defeat ALS supporting the ALS Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter and the Blazeman Foundation, War On ALS.
