5 Center for Health & Social Issues The mission of the Center for Health and Social Issues is to improve the health of the residents of Central Georgia through collaborative campus/community partnerships to provide research and education concerning contemporary health problems and social issues. 8 Healthy Living by Design Goals 1. Increase physical activity by creating a more bicycle/pedestrian friendly community 2. Increase physical activity among Baldwin County elementary school students by implementing Safe Routes to Schools 3. Increase physical activity among Baldwin County elementary school students by proposing and passing Power Up for 60 policy 4. Prevent and control obesity and related chronic diseases by implementing the Live Healthy in Faith program in area churches

Propose and pass a Complete Streets Policy May 28, Prepare and submit the Bicycle Friendly Community application to the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) February 19, Hire project coordinator June 1, Develop and approve a Complete Streets Blueprint (implementation plan) based on feedback received from the LAB July 1, Complete a survey and cost estimate for completion of 2.5 miles of the Fishing Creek Community Trail 1.6. Prepare and submit a proposal for Georgia Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trail Program funding - November 20, Prepare and submit a proposal for Tiger 7 funding to implement the Complete Streets Blueprint April, 29, 2015
