The time has passed at such a rate and it s hard to believe that the end of yet another financial year is in sight. Bet you have even forgotten when the last Trunk Calls reached you it was in April 2013, with reminiscences to the 2013 New Year s Eve! 3 13th July 2013 Look what Santa gave me! NAKED SANTA happy, happy, happy. Look what Santa gave me! A group of nudists known as ER Rockers organised a X mas in July celebration. * A goodly number of participants turned up, all with their secret santa present. What a sight on the faces of the presents receivers. 4 24/8/2013 CAMP OVEN COOKOUT (*)is always a popular gathering here at Elephant Rock. It is amazing how many different prize winning goodies can come out of the ovens in such a short time. And the most amazing thing is that, without prior discussion between the chefs. there is very few doubles up of the delicious fares. Bon apetite! There s the ovens...cooking Gather around and smell the odours of delicious foods cooking. (*) see Coming Events for this year s Camp Oven Cookout "I CAN HEAR JUST FINE!" Three pensioners, each with a hearing loss, were playing golf one fine March day. One remarked to the other, "Windy, isn't it?" "No," the second man replied, "it's Thursday." and the third man chimed in, "So am I. Let's have a beer." Elephant Rock...naturally Page 4

5 12/9/13 The concrete floor is poured for the Pool Hall...and the elephant looks on while the whirly bird polishes the floor. 21/9/13 The working bee is organised to clean up Elephant Rock. The jobs are metered out to the willing workers Machinery power, and man power at work and then - the good food and scintillating table talk. Elephant Rock...naturally Page 5

6 The theme this year was The Great Gatsby So there were lots of black and net stockings; lots of bling;colourful scarves; llllong pearl necklaces; garter belts; vests and black hats. We tried to have the people entertained with jazz and Charleston music, but the preference still was for 60 s 70 s and 80 s music. ROCK ON! New Year s Eve bashes are the only doo that we run as a theme night. There have been a lot of varied and interesting themes: Rocky Horror; Outer Space; Harry Potter;Cirque de ER etc. We have run out of ideas for this Year s function so how about you putting forward some ideas. 7 Ooh...isn t this a lovely Teddy Bear? See it s leathery black nose and paws? No, not a Teddy Bear - but our own Koala in one of our trees behind the accommodation! We can now categorically affirm that we DO live in the country! We ek en d J an ua ry BLAME How the world works lately If a man cuts his finger off while slicing salami at work, He blames the employer. If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of lung cancer, Your family blames the Tobacco company. If your neighbour crashes Into a tree while driving home drunk, He blames the bartender. Clean bowled! If your grandchildren are brats without manners, You blame television. If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, You blame the gun manufacturer. Left or right thong? And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilot at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, The mother of the crazed deceased blames the airline. 8 The ER Petanque trophy Petanque friendly finalists Dave & Rody Spectators & players on the field of play. Easter is always our Petanque Championship time. All who are here and wish to participate, play off in two groups (men and women intermingled) on Saturday. The winners from each group then play on Sunday for the champion s crown. The winner s name gets to go on a shield on the ER trophy. This year Dave took the crown from a great runner up, Rody while about 30 spectators cheered. Still friendly after the contest - Dave the Champion & Rody the runner up with their prizes. Elephant Rock...naturally Page 8

9 July 19 Events Calendar 2014 We are all going to go to Warwick to participate in the Jazz & Jumpers Festival. We'll be leaving Elephant Rock in the morning and will not be returning 'till approximately 4pm. Want to join us? You can come here on Friday afternoon and stop overnight at half price. Then spend a day at the Festival and if you so desire, you can spend Saturday night here as well, but no 50% off this night/day. Join us - the more the merrier! Then back from Warwick, X'mas In July will happen in the warm Common Room. We'll have a communal dinner followed by the distribution of a 'Secret Santa' present that you supply (about $10 worth) August Camp Oven Cookout Our annual CAMP OVEN COOKOUT. Come along and cook up a meal to remember in your camp oven. Delicious. October 4-6 Labout Day-Art weekend Hone your emerging artistic skills under the guidance of well respected artists.
