2 Dear members and friends, Camp will soon be upon us, so please make sure to book in in plenty of time to secure your place! Ideally you need to have attended at least 3 rallies to qualify for Camp, so check the programme and get booked in. Last year s Camp counts as 1 rally, so you only need to have attended 2 since then if you were there. We hope that all campers will attend the pre-camp rally on the 1 st July so that we can check your tack and make sure we get you into a ride according to your ability. Please be aware that we will make every effort to place friends together in rides. Any questions or concerns about this please contact me and I will try and help. The sun is shining at last, so let s all get together at rallies and have a great summer of riding! DATE FOR THE DIARY Camp this year is July 2018 Happy riding. Christine x Information about Groups It is sometimes extremely hard for Christine to ensure that riders are put in the right groups at every rally. Sometimes it is easy, everything works out with no problems and everyone is happy. Sometimes, it is almost impossible to arrange the groupings to everyone s satisfaction due to the combinations of riders booking in. But, please rest assured that the instructors are very experienced and used to dealing with mixed groups and so can ensure that everyone enjoys themselves and gets great tuition. Any comments or suggestions are welcome but please bear in mind that the task of rally groupings is a very hard one and any grouping is always done with the best of intentions! Booking Please send all rally booking slips and money to Rachel Duberly, Secretary (please see front page for her change of address). Please book the rally at least 2 weeks in advance, so we have time to organise the groups. Unfortunately, the late booking fee will apply to any rallies booked in the two weeks prior to the rally date. Your place in the rally will not be secured until the payment has been received. If you cancel later than 7 days before the rally we regret that we cannot refund or credit you. To be able to compete at Area competitions, and to attend camp, you must have attended 3 rallies on the same horse in the year. Camp 2017 counts as one rally. This is very important as it enables us to keep up to date with the standard of your riding and therefore helps to ensure you are placed in the correct rides at rallies and at camp. If we find these requirements haven t been met, a surcharge will apply for camp. For details of rally venues see

3 Junior rallies Junior rallies are suitable for our riders that are not yet jumping a course regularly of 80cm or above, would like to develop their flatwork riding skills and are beginning to develop their skills in show jumping and cross country. These rallies are the foundation and stepping stones for our riders to progress to the bigger and faster paced Senior rallies and Christine will assess and advise when riders are ready to move onto the next level. Junior rallies can accommodate all levels jumping up to 80cm and the instructors will ensure that each rider gets the appropriate advice and support for their individual ability. It may be the case that a Junior rally itself is split into ability to accommodate our riders who are beginners. Senior rallies Senior rallies are suitable for our riders who are comfortably jumping a course of 80cm or above and would like to develop their flatwork riding skills. Pony Club phone We have a Pony Club mobile for you to use to make enquiries by text message. This will be monitored between 9am 9pm. Please do not book in to rallies using this number, or leave voice messages. Please also remember that the Secretary does not select the rally groups! Dress Code and Turnout The correct dress code for rallies consists of cream or navy jodhpurs, navy or black hat silk, black or brown boots/chaps, gloves, and a pony club shirt/top/coat. Body protectors are worn at all rallies, but it is compulsory that they are worn, together with long sleeves, when jumping. In the absence of a martingale, a neck strap should be worn on your horse for all rallies. No brightly coloured numnahs or hat silks, and please ensure that you, your horse and your tack are clean, as it has been noted by outside instructors that the standards of turnout are slipping. No jewellery, including earrings, is to be worn at any rally. Merchandise OHNPC rugby shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and jackets are available for purchase at under Equestrian and then Pony Club headings. Riders must be able to comfortably jump a course of 70cm but plenty of support will be given. Time slots (1 hour slots between 2-4pm) will be allocated when we know who has booked in. This is open to all that want to improve their flatwork skills 24/6/18 FREE FREE This is the pre-camp rally so that you can get your tack checked in advance of camp. A welcome introductory for new rider to Cross Country and also a vital rally for those in our Eventing Teams. This is new venue and has both little and big Cross country courses.
