2 AREA 1C MINUTES OCTOBER 27 TH, 2016 Meeting 7:06 Presentation from Bownet Motion made by Lisa Ducharme, to approve the September minutes with changes, second by Aldo Mascheroni, motion APPROVED. Treasurer s Report: Frank Bagheri Checking Acct: 55, Savings: 24, Freeway Tournament $12, 000 (net) On October 31 st player numbers will be pulled, please bring a check to the next meeting or mail in to the address on the invoice Make sure all refunds are processed by Oct 31 st Upper Division: Peter Smock Everything is going well. Season is ending on Nov 6th ¼ Finals starting Mon 7 th Semi and Finals on Sun 13 th Ref Report: Scott Davis There were a few more send offs this past month, mostly due to double yellows. 1% of the referee slots are still open (more than the past few years). RC s please send out a blast to your players to remind players of the player agreement the signed at the beginning of the season (a reminder on good sportsmanship). Communications of Sanctions (See Attached) See new reference in combined rules National Referee s Congratulations to Tom Regan and Vigan Assessments happening will be taking place next weekend. All stars, looking at different procedure for qualifying referees Will get poll from Ref Admin from each region before the season starts Team Ref must have the qualifications to be placed on a ref team (a team must have a ref team) U14 teams for section and area must have a qualified AR. U10 & U12 teams must have a qualified Center and AR.

3 Going to hold tight on the deadlines!!! When turning in your roster please include the name(s) of your Referees. All coaches, referees and volunteers must have AYSO Safe Haven and Concussion to be able to go to Sectionals. VIP: Tom Regan Regarding Spring Season for VIP, John Mass has put in the for permits for Arroyo Seco Looking to have about 120 participants Going to have a VIP coordinators meeting, Tom is going to have the coordinators poll the families to see if there is going to be enough participation for the camp. If the participation may be low, Area will look at other possible options for the VIP spring season. Sec 1 VIP tournament Nov 20 th Chino Hills Spring Season: John Mass Meeting held to discuss 5 different options to reorganizing the YDP program. The top option is to switch to a tournament style program. Which would include: The season would take place over 3 set weekends, with teams playing 4 games each weekend ( 2 Sat & 2 Sun) All Pools would get reset each weekend Area 1 Cup or Championship would be presented for each division Challenges may be Field availability and control and referees (team would have to support itself) Start mid March, next game in Apr, wrap it up in May Pools of 5 with 5 pools 25 per division First week of seeding might be tough Shorten games with possibilities with some full length games Positives: Kids who have never had the experience of attending tournament, would get the opportunity for the experience Area 1C champion Will consider other regions to possibly join, but must have ref s and fields Open registration Motion made by Lisa Ducharme, to approve the new model for Area 1C Cup ( 3 weekend tournament style), with model details and dates to be presented by the Spring Cup committee at the next meeting for approval, second by Aldo Mascheroni, motion APPROVED. U9/U10 Extra Playoffs will be held at Arroyo South hosted by Area 1C Official Date Dec 10th Senior Ref s will be needed to help support.

4 Election: Aldo Mascheroni Aldo Mascheroni advertised for the open position of AD, over the past several months, Al Prado volunteered for the position. After discussion with Al Prado out of the room a motion was made by Aldo Mascheroni to elect Al Prado as new Area Director for the next 3 year term, motion second by Lisa Ducharme, motion APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY. RC terms are up coming up so please make sure you advertise in your region for the open position, start your succession plan. Plug The Roadshow Addition: Region 13 will be hosting Miles Standish Tournament U10 U19 Region 214 will be holding Regional Ref Class Dec 10 Intermediate Classes will be going 8 to 8 Dec 4 th (one day only class) Both Free Rolando is on the NAGM Task Force he will be sending out an to the RC s to get feedback Possible electronic voting will be taking place in the near future. NAGM location: Newport Beach Scott and Bruce thank you all for coordinating referee assessments. Christmas party looking to take place Jan 13 th or 14 th at the Magic Castle, will know more details at the next meeting Next Meeting will be on Nov 17 th. 5 Coach Administrator: Mike Stiles This is the first of many updates regarding your respective Region's registration numbers for the Coach Certification courses being offered at the Section 1 Roadshow at Arcadia High School the weekend of January 6 8, While I recognize that is a little over two months away, our numbers are not encouraging. Please urge your coaches to upgrade their certifications in advance of the All Star and Spring seasons. Let me know if you have any questions. Post Season: Craig Duncan HI everyone. Unfortunately, I can t make the meeting tomorrow due to a work commitment. All stars is quickly coming upon us. Here is my report: I ve attached a proposed calendar. Please review and let me know if there any comments/questions. Sectional all stars have been pushed back to early March. This gives us a cushion on all levels. We can essentially have six weekends of play for all levels, including sectional. Key dates to remember: November 14 at 7:00 pm post season coordinators meeting at Jane and Al s house. Dec. 12 all play through rosters must be turned in. Dec. 12 play through coaches meeting mandatory Dec. 13 final day for submission of all star information, including coaches, number of teams at any given level, team referee information, etc. Dec play through tournament

6 Jan 7 8 Leo Camp Jan Start pool play at all levels Feb 25 26; March 4 5 playoffs. I am looking into a different web site definitely different for standings and scores, perhaps for score reporting as well. Please provide contact information for your post season coordinator. Let me know if there are any concerns/questions, etc. Thanks. Region 2 Report: Renate Stroup REGION REPORTS Just finished our 8 th week of play. One coach and parent suspension in BU10. Coordinators going out most weekends to monitor games. Selected Sectional and Area All star coaches Coaches selecting teams for Turkey Tournaments U10 practices cut from two nights a week to one due to the loss of one of our lit fields. Working on getting Blue Sombrero up and running Region 13 report: Al Prado 7 weeks in, all going fairly well some injuries, a few broken bones, and concussions A couple of coaches had to watch the end of their games from YouTube footage J In our highly competitive U6 division, we had to hold a meeting with 2 coaches, as we had a malicious trip from behind Had to remind one of them that Safe Haven includes coaches NOT name calling and that it s not a good example for a 5 year old. EXTRA TM program going well Not having issues with our R13 ref assignments although not the same when we travel Region is moving away from playing at the Rose Bowl We don t get the fields very often and when do we, we usually have to share with other events, adding to traffic and parking issues Fields, as they are used as a parking lot for football games, have beer bottle and broken glass We ll use for tournaments, but, need to pay for field grading, maintenance and cleanup Held our 4 th annual Ref a Rama for u10 and our first for U12 Where we have experienced refs take over a field and have the team refs observe, with an experienced ref as a 4 th official. They can ask questions on what is called (or not) and why, Etc. We all wear Pink and its proven to be successful Congrats to the new Nationals, especially Tom Regan I'm guessing his game count was not an issue!!!

7 Region 40 Report: Mario Garcia The U5 program is running good with the help of the parent's and Volunteers Some changes are being made on my board. Team formation underway for teams that will be going to the Turkey Tournaments. Accepting Coaches applications for All Stars. Working on security fields for the upcoming tournaments. Working on ordering trophies and metals for the end of the season. Closing ceremonies is on December 12th at Shakey's Region 88 report: Aldo Mascheroni Region 88 completed its six week Under 4 session last Saturday. Photos will be ready for pick up for all teams tomorrow. Yearbook is being worked on and should be ready in a couple of weeks. Trophies are being worked on. Held Sportsmanship Award ceremony this past weekend and 286 players were honored. Passed the pink ball around at this past weekend s games, but totals are not in yet. Two new National referees as of yesterday: Viggen Garibian and that other guy what s his name?..tom Regan. Matt Ng passed one of his Advanced referee assessment Saturday, so he s about ready to be upgraded as well. Matt will be 16 next month. New Area Spring program proposal was well received by the R88 Board. Four new possible artificial turf fields in 2018, two of them schools.let s keep our fingers crossed (Why you ask? It rained here last night/this morning and we ve had to cancel all practices to be held on grass fields tonight). Region 98 report: Dave Lemos LOP will not be fully OPEN this year. Looks like contractor bailed and now they are looking for someone else to pour the Rubber on the jogging Trail. Closing Ceremonies December 10th Everyone is Welcome USC Soccer Street Team will be present along with LAFC to promote their Teams

8 6 Lunch Trucks confirmed Several Carnival style soccer games Volunteer Award and Coaches Award will be announced along with VIP Medals and Trophies Sending several Teams to the Myles Standish Tournament (Registration is finally Open ;) Gathering Referee Teams to HELP! TC Cup will start November 19th Have several Board Members that have confirmed for EXPO. Everything else looks like it s working as far as I know. Albert will be there tomorrow and I will be slightly late. Region 214 report: John Mass 2000 players in U4 U16 divisions. Gopher damage on Arroyo North is requiring unplanned field maintenance (Bringing in Karl to address the issue) Planning underway for All star tryouts on 10/30 and 11/6. There is concern R214 will have very week division teams in GU10, GU12, BU12 and GU14. Team formation underway for teams that will be going to the Turkey Tournaments Arroyo Seco planning complete, working on getting teams. Region 908 report: Lisa Durcharme All good for now. Just finished fundraisers Working on playoff and soccer fest Working to start graduation sign ups next week Working on board members for expo and fundraising to send them Working on all stars That's all for now.
