10 The Occasional Orchestra having recently launched their second album, Clever Bones, to rave reviews, all they want to do is play to you, a listening and happy audience, with the songs conjuring up both a nostalgic and romantic view of Britain, both in the past and present. 12 TCC ENHANCEMENTS We are planning a number of enhancements and are seeking quotes for them at present. IF you are able to help us with any aspect of these improvements then please contact me. Rob.cobley@touchwoodonline.com TCC Chair The works being considered are 1. A Canopy over the outside play area (11.6m by 3.6m) 2. Refurbishment of the Ladies, Gents & Disabled Toilets 3. Extension to the left hand Store Room (3.6m by 5m) 4. Conversion of the Loft into a Meeting Room We need plans, costs and approval for all these works. Plus we will need to enter a phase of Fundraising together with applying for Grants to various local organisations! 13 12-23 October Mindy & Conrad CLIMB Roof of Africa Fundraiser in aid of Stratford Eye and Cancer Hospital Donations please to Family take on Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of appeal Stratford residents Mindy and Conrad Yorke are attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with their son in October. They are taking on the 19, 341ft, 8 day challenge which will involve crossing the caldera of Shira volcano before traversing beneath the southern ice fields of Kibo, with the aim of raising 1,000 to fund a special chemotherapy chair. Upgrading the chemotherapy chairs from the standard chairs available, will make a real difference to patients. At times treatment can take over 10 hours and so it is really important that patients are provided with the most comfortable chair possible. Mindy and Conrad feel very passionately about supporting the appeal and making sure Stratford Hospital it is the best it can be. As a hairdresser in Stratford, Mindy meets lots of people in the local community who will benefit from the new hospital and because of this wanted to do something to support the appeal. They have been researching and training for this challenge since January and have already walked 1,600 miles in preparation. For Mindy this really will be out of her comfort zone having done no trekking previously. 14 The TREK Mindy & Conrad will be climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Known as the Roof of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro peaks at 5895m above sea level, making the altitude one of the most challenging aspects. They will be climbing the Lemosho Glades route, which is one of six official climbing routes up Kilimanjaro. The company they are going with, selected the route because it is thought to be the best and safest route to the summit due to the fact it allows hikers to adjust less dramatically to the altitude.
