Single and 3 spot Vegas targets available, 15 ends, 3 arrows per end. All tournament dates are on a 4th Friday of the month, first shot at 7:45 p.m. Gate will be open by 7:00 p.m. $3.00 per person. 2 Redwood Bowmen s Western Roundup was June 26 Terry Lakely Austin Leporini Regional Black Mtn. Bowmen was Aug. 14 Santa Cruz Archers members at the MTBA Regional 900 on Sunday, 8/14/2016. Gabrielle Garrett commented, I think just about every SC Archer got an award, so our club earned a TON of points for MTBA s Club of the Year competition! 3 NFAA National Outdoor Field Championship was July Congratulations to our club members who recently competed at the NFAA National Outdoor Field Championship event, July at Darrington Archery Range in Washington state. We are proud of you even if you didn't place: Ben Rogers, 2nd place Bare Bow Marty Vaden 1st place SSMTrad Bruce Siegel 4th place SMTrad Karen Williams, 5th place AFFSLR. Community Shoot nights Gabrielle Garrett On Community Shoot Nights, the 2nd and 4th Fridays, the gate will be open at 7:00 p.m., and any club member and their guests are welcome to come and shoot with us. 4 Aloha shoot July 24 Gabrielle Garrett Thanks, everyone who came to the Aloha shoot on July 24. It was a lot of fun, with 47 archers shooting: 34 registered as club members and 13 guests. We had a good number of BHFS and Recurve, at least 5 FS, and some Longbow and BowHunters (BH). More attended who did not shoot. Thanks, everyone, for making this such a big success! All may be eligible for the 450 Round record board (coming soon!). First shot at 7:45 p.m., 3 arrows per end, 15 ends. Outdoor Field/Hunter Round. 2nd Sunday, 9:00 a.m. Select 3D club shoots. See Gabrielle for details. We will also have awards for stump shoot participation and club service. Stump shoots are the last Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. 14 targets, up to 3 arrows each. No special score card is needed. See the scorecard on the last page of this newsletter! Working members: track your hours in the log book Working members are required to contribute 16 hours of service per year. Locate the blue notebook hanging on the back wall of the indoor range. Log your hours on the page that matches your last initial. For example, here s a photo of the page for last names beginning with S. If you are looking to ride share, contact Denise Barr at or chefdeedee@att.net. Compete for awards in our 2016 Club Championship program Gabrielle Garrett Participate in our Club Championship shoots for a chance to qualify for awards to be presented in December! Compete for highest scores and/or participate in at least one of the 4 scored events with a colored championship scorecard for up to 2 of each type tournament. The cost of each colored scorecard is $1. Cards are available through Gabrielle (go2garrett@sbcglobal.net), at club meetings, and at scheduled Indoor 450 Rounds. See Gabrielle Garrett or the event host. 1st and 3rd Friday Indoor 300 Rounds. Pick which two you want to use for club championship scores. First shot Beginning archery group class We hold Beginning Archery Public Session classes the third Saturday of each month from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Cost: $20 per archer. Enrollment is limited to 10 archers. You must register in advance. See aug-19/beginning-archery-group-class. Class starts at 1:00 p.m.; be at the range by 12:45 p.m. Curriculum: Safety, archery form, aiming, and practice. Taught by nationally certified instructors or coaches. Classes are mixed-age with children (9 or over) and adults. Children under 13 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. 7 Cody Leporini unfazed by his opponent. Our second target was a T-Rex and was the start of a fun day of shooting. So many archers! So many dinosaurs! August meeting minutes Andy Sterbenz 8/2/2016 7:30 p.m. President s report (Andy Sterbenz) 1. Thanks to all who helped with the Aloha Shoot. It was a big success. 2. Thanks to those who helped with the Me-One Camp Challenge. The wooden item by the trailer in the back room is a portable bow rack. 3. Reminder: Regional 900 round is Sunday, 8/14 at Black Mountain. 1 st Vice President s report (Jerry Granger) Absent. 1. Scoreboard update by Cody Leporini: Dave Rolander and Caroline Rolander both moved up the boards. 2. Reminder: when turning in a card, print your name (first & last), age, style/class and total score so Cody can read it. 2 nd Vice President s report (Marty Vaden) Four archers attended the July Stump Shoot. Secretary s report (Steve Andrews) Absent Fighting fires. Treasurer s report (Susan Bertram) Solvent, no surprises. Outdoor Range Captain s report (Tyson Sheppard) 1. No outdoor shoot this month. Everyone should go to the regional 900 Round that day. 2. There s a list for the work party, but most archers are going to Pacifica this weekend. Indoor Range Captain s report (Cindee Damron and Emery Parrish) Absent. Publicity Chair s report (Gabrielle Garrett) 1. Team Shirts are in. Pick up your order from Gabrielle. 2. Still has t-shirts and club logo gear. 3. The BBoB flyer is out on the website. Membership Chair and Newsletter Editor s report (Lynn Rollins) 102 members, 37 are working members. If you are working, sign up for a target. The July newsletter is on the web. Web Master s report (Henry Bertram) No report. Erick if you need keys this week. Key Master s report (Erick Sturm) Absent. Novelty Chair s report (Belle Leporini) Absent; see old business Old business 1. Aloha Shoot. 47 archers attended despite it being Wharfto-Wharf Sunday. Decorations and snacks were great. Definite interest in holding it again next year. 2. Club internal competition update: Gabrielle. Everyone who shot at the club 3Ds is in the competition, plus those who turned in cards from other shoots. Gabrielle is tracking 37 participants, but Cody has some cards for her. 3. The upcoming 450 round on 8/29 will count toward the club competition. 4. Level 2 instructor class TBD. Contact Henry. 5. Repair of club bows (Marty and Jerry). Both absent no report. 6. Halloween Novelty Shoot, October 30 (Sunday). 14 Animals unmarked, 2 arrows. New business 1. Planning for the Bad Boys of Branciforte Shoot, Sunday October 2 (Marked 3D): Ads were submitted to CBH. Setup is Saturday, October 1. Come costume the animals. Need to mow the parking lot in mid-september and get the City to unlock the gate. Robin volunteered to run a raffle. 8 scarchers@comcast.net

9 Cooking is Erick? This time we ll getting a trash contract (weekend dumpster). Gabrielle offered to order custom medals with a steel deer logo. Rob moved we budget $300 for the purchase. Second by Cody. Friendly amendment to $350 to cover tax and shipping. Passed unanimously. 2. We are hosting the State Indoor Shoot on Saturday, January 7. 10:00 a.m. 3. Time to renew the club insurance. Henry informed us that the cost is based on the club (flat fee) plus the membership. A family membership costs 2.5 times the individual rate, so if you are the only archer in the family, renew as an individual. If you are a family, renew as a family. Carrying insurance passed unanimously. 4. Cody asked about expanding the boards to add all NFAA classes. He will coordinate the layout with Gabrielle and let us know if he needs new boards to expand onto.
