1 ב"ה TLC Nishmas NEWSLETTER 20 th April 2018 מ צ ר ע- ת ז ר יע Tazrio - Metzoro "THE GOAL OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SHOULD BE TO ACTIVATE THE CHILD'S OWN NATURAL DESIRE TO LEARN" Dear Parents and Grandparents, Hope your week went well! In this week's double parasha, Tazrio-Metzoro we taught the children about the skin disease tzora as that was afflicted onto a person if they had been gossiping and talking 'Lashon Hora'. Of course we never told the children about tzora as but we did explain about how to be a good friend and not talk Lashon Hora. We explained that we should use kind and good words and think about what we are saying Monday: To startoff our week, we had the wonderful task of listening to the children s weekend adventures, and more... "I went to the park, I went to the sunny one and Rebecca Willick was at the park. I go on the Rebecca's big girl swing. Eli Sheva was at the park too and she playing with Annie. Mummy came to the park. Mummy go on the other big girl swide. I done swinging and Eli sheva pushed me. Grandpa gave raisins in big boxes. The other shop was not closing it was opening. It wasn't the meat shop, it was the tiny shop. They sell clothes. Mummy buy dresses and she didn't try them on, she just pay them" - Layla "I went to Bubba's and Zaida's. I did a roley poley and Zaida saw. She said I did a roly poly over the toys" - Rosie "Mummy and daddy told me they are going to bring me to school and daddy brang me to nursery Friday too. My school is really far away in the car" - Samuel "I went to the farm and saw animals. There was a big donkey. There were cows, loads of cows. One cow did a big poo. I went home and went sleepy. I gave the animals food. I put it in my hand and they ate from my hand. It felt funny. One cow pushed another cow over and it went moooooo" - Aaron "I went to the funfair with all my family and went on 100 rides. My sister can count to 100. I went on a ride which was a fire engine. It had it's sirens on but it was a toy one so it couldn't go on the road. I went out afterwards, home. I had a cream cheese bagel when I got home, with cucumber Page 1 of 7

2 and pickles. I went on a carousel and there were water balls which I couldn't go in. I was really sad because Kiki had a go" - Benji "I went to sleep in my cot at home after I went park. I went to shul yesterday. Daddy went to shuld and I sat next to daddy. I went to big boy shul and saw Daniel too" - Rafi "I go to swimming with daddy and Yoav. I put my face in the water and went on a choo choo train in the water. I lie in the swimming pool on my back and daddy hold me. I go up the stairs when I was getting out and then went home" - Amira "I went to the zoo. I saw a monkey and a giraffe. The giraffe was really really tall, it's neck is long. It was yellow (Did it say hello?) Yes (laughing). I saw elephants standing up and they picked hay up with it's trunk and put sand on itself" Ariella "When Natan was having a birthday party, daddy and Natan were out and I was playing games with my mummy. Natan went to a birthday party. It was one of his friend's. I played a pirate pop game and a puzzle with different people. I also painted a picture and I put it in the bin. We made cake and when Grandma and Grandpa comes we ated it and it was with chocolate chippies. I also went swimming with mummy, daddy and Natan but mummy didn't go in because she wears glasses" - Talya THANK YOU CHILDREN! WE LOVE LISTENING TO YOUR STORIES! Today we explained to the children about how important it is to talk nicely to one another and not say words that make their friends sad. The children gave some great explanations of some very nice words and nice things to say to one another and not to use language that may make others feel sad! And some examples of what the children said are: "I love Benji" said Samuel, then Daniel said "I love Rafi" "I like Yakira" said Amira and then then Natan said "you're the best". Talya said "I love Becky" then Samuel said "You're my best friend" Benji then said "I love my teachers and all my family" then Rosie said "I love you Benji" WHAT GREAT UNDERSTANDING CHILDREN ON HOW TO MAKE ONE ANOTHER FEEL HAPPY AND TO USE KIND WORDS! We have started Yom Ha'atzmaut preparations to celebrate Israel's birthday! Today the children have started to make their own individual flags to wave around as well as making a big nursery poster of the Israeli flag using a vast amount of different blue and white rescources! WHAT A GREAT FLAG CHILDREN and such lovely individual flags you created! Page 2 of 7

3 HOW BUSY WERE YOU TODAY CHILDREN! Tuesday: Today the children were involved in a lovely colourful science experiment 'The Colourful Skittles Science Experiment' Of course the children s eyes opened wide when they spotted a bowl full of yummy colourful Skittles! We had our little volunteers make a circle with different coloured skittles on a round plate. Then all that was needed was warm water poured into the centre of the circle and the magic begun! They all watched in amazement as the colours spread to the centre of the plate creating a Magical Skittle* Rainbow which is a beautiful and bright display for the children to see! Such a simple experiment with a BIG WOW factor! Believe it or not there is a lot of science behind this experiment such as why the food colours meet in the middle of the plate and not mix together? So, we kept it as simple as possible and explained to the children that first of all the warm water 'melts' the colour on the Skittle and it's the sugar in the colour that stops the colours from 'mixing' and which 'pushes' the colour to the centre of the plate! AWESOME! *Skittles available in all good kosher stores!!!!! Wednesday: Show & Tell...First up was Tamar with great 'Moana' figures "It's Hay Hay from my favourite story. Mummy is my favourite. This is Moana, Mummy, daddy, Mawai, Hay Hay. I watch them at home with Page 3 of 7

I'm joking, it's a bus but it's the same colour as a fire engine. I can open all the doors, the one at the back is easy. It's just pretend, the other doors fell off. Nikki get on the bus. Should I drive it for you? I'll take you to the fire station (Demo of driving it). You're at the fire station! WOW, SUCH A GREAT BUS DRIVER! Next Judah showed us a fire engine "Mine.
