1 ב"ה TLC Nishmas NEWSLETTER 10 th November 2017 ת ול ד ת - Toldos "MAKE EACH DAY YOUR MASTERPIECE" Dear Parents and Grandparents Hope you all had a lovely week! In this week's parsha, Toldos... we told the children that Yitzchok marries Rivka and after a long time she becomes pregnant with twins! 2 babies! Esav (ey-sav) and Yaacov. Esav is born first. He is hairy and red headed. Then follows Yaacov, whose skin is as smooth as silk. Esav and Yaacov are quite different. Esav is naughty and mean and does not work hard, while Yaacov is a good boy, who is kind and likes to learn the Torah. As Esav was born first he should get a special brochoh from his father but he doesn't deserve it! Yaacov does. One day Yaacov is making red lentil soup. Esav comes home hot and hungry and asks for some soup. Yaacov agrees as long as Esav lets him have the frist born's brochoh from their father. Esav agrees. Yitzchok would be sad if he knew that Esav didn't want to have the special brochoh. A plan is hatched by Rivka, the mummy, to make sure Yaacov receives his father's brochoh. Rivka covers Yaakov's arms and neck with goat skins to Yitzchok will think Yaacov's is his hairy son Esav. Yitzchok is blind so he cannot see his children. He hears Yaacov's sweet voice, but touches his hands which feel hairy. Yitzchok thinks it is Esav and gives the special brochoh to Yaacov instead. Monday: WOW! Yet another birthday celebration to start off our week! HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY TO OUR LITTLE AARON! Wishing you a lifetime full of health, happiness and laughter little man! Love from all your little friends and teachers at TLC X Page 1 of 6
2 Now we listen with great enthusiasim to what your little one tells us about what they've been up to over the weekend... "I went to a restaurant. I had frites and fish fingers. Me and Emy had frites with Mummy and Daddy. Daddy was at home. I played something else and watched football with Daddy. It was Hannah's birthday. Daddy had a surprise. A purple swirl, slide in his bag" - Samuel (SAM SAM) "I went with Daddy to the park. I went on the swing, daddy pushed me. The other one didn't have any sweets, the other swing. I went in the house, it was a cold house, it was cold outside" - Rosie "I went to the park. There was a ball at the park and I went on the slide and the swing. I went with Mummy, Daddy, Grandma. Grandma read me a story and played with me" - Jude "I went to jumpy, jumpy. My Daddy came with me and sister. I went super high and there wasn't a digger. There were lots of things. My Mummy stayed at home, and she didn't go to the gym she was on the couch. Kiki and Mummy went to a party after jumpy jumpy. We went in somebody elses car. Daddy's friend came to my house and he doesn't have a car" - Benji "I went to the park, it was raining, it's wet" - Ariella "I was with Mummy and Daddy. Mummy was here. We played with Daddy and ate dinner" - Natan "Mummy went on a plane to America. A really big plane. Mummy called me. Mummy went with Mummy's friend. I miss her. My dad made me fruit and I didn't have frites" - Layla "I went to the park, and went on the swings with Daddy. I was really really cold. We saw Mummy's friend. I played hide and seek with Daddy and hide behind the tress. I saw a giraffe, it was massive and nice!" - Talya "I was with Mummy. We went park. I don't remember what we did. I did have a football" - Rafi "Mummy and Daddy, food. We had pasta" - Judah "Play inside. Outside cold" - Eitan WOW CHILDREN! WHAT A GREAT SESSION! Today the children participated in a great sense activity. They were asked to close their eyes and feel diffrent objects/materials. They then had to use their sense of touch to tell us what the object or material felt like. They had shaving foam, pine cones, pasta, wet sand, dry sand, shells and dry sand mixed with pasta! We heard some great vocabulary... Jude told us that the shaving foam felt wet and slimey whilst Ella told us that the shells felt hard and bumpy! Rafi told us the wet sand felt cold, wet and sticky and Daniel said that the shaving foam smells Page 2 of 6
3 ewww, and feels yukky and squishy! Other words the children used to describe the feeling were: soft, spikey, smooth, thick, wet, hard, bumpy, lumpy, fluffy...well DONE CHILDREN! THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN! Tuesday: Today we had a pretend 'Tasty Tuesday'. The children made great 'pretend' lentil soup! They each had a disposable bowl which they had to smear in glue. They then had the task of adding split dry lentils into the bowl and for the finishing touch, they had to stick a disposable spoon into their bowl! Wednesday:We believe or Show & Tell sessions are one of the children's favourites! Well, who wouldn't love to show off a special item?...first up we had Judah with a toy bike! He excitedly showed his class then put it on the table and gave a great demonstration of driving it! WELL DONE SWEETIE! Then we had Amira show off a great pair of Gruffalo slippers "I wear them at home, on my head. Pebbles and eyes Page 3 of 6
4 there. Erm? Brown" GREAT SWEETIE! Next up was Jack with blue teddy and little teddy "Teddy and a teddy in my pocket. Amy and Daddy hive it too (THEN HE TOOK TEDDY OUT OF HIS POCKET) He's a blue teddy. He's soft" GREAT JOB SWEETIE! Then Yoel came to the front with 2 toy dinosaurs to show his friends. The malleable properties of clay make it so much fun for children to investigate and explore with with many learning opportunities that happen along the way! Not forgetting that we are secretly building up strength in all tiny hand muscles and tendons, making them ready for pencil and scissor control later on! WELL DONE CHILDREN! Page 5 of 6
