1 Wombat Wobble Because the children weren't able to go outside today and engage in physical play, Miss Dee decided to play the song "wombat wobble" from the Munch and Move program to allow the children to dance to with their peers and educators (L.O 3.2). The children were asked to form a circle around the purple butterfly mat and with confidence, all children were able to follow instructions from Miss Dee (L.O 4.4). "Well done Panda's", the children all clapped as they were proud of their efforts. Miss Dee and Miss Elle explained to the children that they need to follow their teachers actions as they dance to the wombat wobble. The song contains different Australian animals which encourages children to follow actions to the correct animal they hear in the song such as jumping like a kangaroo, wobble like a wombat, move your arms like an emu, snap like a crocodile, clap like a seal and walk like a penguin. The children were then all encouraged to turn around and create a love heart in the air using their fingers, pointing to their peers shouting "I love you". The children all did a great job at listening to the animals in the song and following their teachers actions especially jumping like a kangaroo. "Jump, jump, jump" shouted Samantha. The children enjoyed participating in dancing, furthering their physical skills (L.O 1.4). ]
2 Playdough Fun This morning Miss Courtney made some homemade playdough for the pandas to enjoy this morning during free play. As the children entered this morning they showed such excitement as they noticed the large blob of playdough ready to go. (LO.1.1) Miss Courtney coloured the playdough pink to further the children's colour recognition. Handing out small balls of playdough to the children ensuring they all had an equal amount. Playdough tools were added including, different size cutters, rollers, scissors this encouraged the children to increase their fine motor skills. (LO.3.2) As the children played Miss Courtney informed the children that this colour was pink, asking the children to repeat "Pink" they all yelled excitedly (LO.5.1) Matilda pointed to the tool she wanted, as she was handed it she remembered manners and replied with "ta" to her educator. Samantha followed the correction to the grip in which she held onto the roller. Samantha fixed this and happily continued cutting the playdough. (LO.4.3)Anthony enjoyed cutting the playdough into small pieces, whilst Lincoln enjoyed squishing it through his fingers (LO.3.2) Nikhil had noticed the dolphin cutter on the table. "Dolphin" he exclaimed with excitement (LO.2.4) The children did an amazing job at sharing their tools to take turns at different ones which was great to see. Good work pandas :) (LO.1.2)
3 Colour recognition The children showed great recognition with the colour pink this morning throughout their playdough activity. To extend on this Miss Courtney decided to further this recongition by introducing more colours for the children to ackoneldge and try to remember. The pandas sat for a group time quietly awaiting. (LO.5.1) A monkey book with a pupet was brought out for the children to engage with. Including colours of pink, green, blue red and brown the children listened along with the story. When a colour come up The colour was called out by Miss Courtney, then the children were asked to repeat it(lo.4.3) The pandas did a great job at repeating the colours as they saw them, When the pink page was turned Matilda and Samantha called out "Pink" showing they could transfer what they just learnt from the playdough activity to this activity. When the book reached the end Byron called "Again" so we decided to read the book again.
4 Chalk Drawing Last night Miss Duana prepared the chalk boards for the panda's as they arrived this morning. Lincoln noticed that there was chalk on to the table & began to investigate our new activity. Lincoln used his palmer grasp to hold the chalk using an up & down motion to draw on his board. "Oooo" said Lincoln, "What're you drawing Linc" asked Miss Elle, Lincoln replied with a smile & continued to draw. Next, Chase had arrived & noticed that Lincoln was doing some drawing! Chase approached the table and picked some chalk to draw with, Chase was confident using his palmer grasp using a circular motion to draw on his board. Samantha arrived next, "Would you like to do some drawing with us Samantha" asked Miss Elle. Samantha come over to the table & began to create a picture. "What're you drawing Samantha" questioned Miss Elle. "A spider" replied Samantha! To further this experience Miss Elle wet the chalk boards to create a smooth sensation for the children whilst they were drawing. (lo 1.1, 3.2, 2.1, 5.1)
