1 The Paw Print Times Schley County Middle School - Monthly Newsletter Do you hear that? That s the sound of homecoming. It is right around the corner. Don t you just love homecoming? We get to dress up and have an awesome pep rally. There is a football game, dance, and homecoming court, too. This year, homecoming week is October 17 th 21 st. The best part of homecoming week is dressing up. This year, the dress up days are: twin day, animated characters, nerd or jock, throwback Thursday, and we always black out on Friday. The football game is fun, too! The alumni comeback and the football players put it all on the line to beat the opposing team. This year, we will play Crawford County. I can t wait for homecoming. Book Review: It was a babysitting job gone wrong! The book Stolen Children, by Peg Kehret, is filled with mystery, suspense, and action. In this book, 14 year old Amy gets a call from Mrs. Egerton.

A sound awakens Amy and that s when she sees Tubby, the stuffed animal that Kendra adores. Amy knew Kendra would never drop her stuffed animal, unless someone carried her off.

2 Book Review: It was a babysitting job gone wrong! The book Stolen Children, by Peg Kehret, is filled with mystery, suspense, and action. In this book, 14 year old Amy gets a call from Mrs. Egerton. Mrs. Egerton asks Amy to babysit her daughter, 3 year old Kendra. Mrs. Egerton slips off to work while Amy is left with Kendra. Amy is so exhausted that she falls asleep within hours. A sound awakens Amy and that s when she sees Tubby, the stuffed animal that Kendra adores. Amy knew Kendra would never drop her stuffed animal, unless someone carried her off. That s when Amy knew Kendra had been kidnapped! Who will save Kendra? Find out in Stolen Children. Will this be Amy s last babysitting job? I give this book five stars out of five. You won t be able to put the book down for even a slight second. 3 Current Events: 2016 Summer Olympics Did You Know? The 2016 Summer Olympics was the first Olympics to be held in South America. Africa is the only continent that has not hosted the Olympics. 11,303 athletes competed in the Rio Summer Olympics 207 Countries participated in this year s Olympic Games. In the year 1808, some families traveled here from the Carolinas. They settled where the Ellaville cemetery is today. Soon after, a small town popped up called Pond-town. It was named this because, at the time, it was almost completely surrounded by water. This small town soon became a relay station for many stage coaches. Eventually, the government passed a bill to develop a small gap of land between Sumter and Marion into Schley County. Thus came Ellaville - The city we love and know today. Fall Leaves The sound of leaves rustling on a tree- They crunch underneath me. The wind in my hair- If I am with you, I don t care. Brown, orange, yellow, and green- Laying on the hill - feeling serene.
