3 TEXAS TRAILS RV RESORT The ROUND-UP Welcome to Texas Trails RV Resort Welcome Back Winter Texans! Whew I can t believe how the time has flown. Larry and I have been busy all summer. We have made some improvements which you have probably read about in Denise s News Bites. (I am so glad she enjoys doing them because it is so fun reading them). I am going to talk about some of the changes that have been made but not all as there have been so many. While you were gone the year round residents (thank you all for helping us survive the summer) have been helping us hold the fort down. The Friday night dances have been a fun time and we have at least broke even with ticket sales and 50/50 pot money for each dance. That means we did not lose money and people that stayed in the valley had a good time. During this time Larry and I started doing hot dogs in the concession. They went over fairly well and then came Don Sharp. If you have not heard about the new chef in residence he and his wonderful wife Nancy have made the kitchen sparkle. They painted, organized, cleaned and cleaned some more. Now you can actually find things in the pantry areas. This also means that there will be new rules for purchasing food and using supplies. If you are chairing a project that will need to use the kitchen area or food in any way you will have to check with Don Sharp. The activity directors will no longer be ordering food or have any control over the kitchen. As you come in to the Friendship Hall you will see a Powerpoint display of the things going on in the park as well as the improvements we have made throughout. Make sure to thank Larry because he put a lot of work into it. There has been a change in the old Trading Post area. It is now the Activity Office. If you need anything from the activity office you will need to stop at one of the windows and the volunteers will assist you from there. Our hope is to stop some of the congestion in the hallway and the entrance to the old part of the office. That door will actually be locked and remain so unless you have an appointment to see one of the directors. The ice cream will be sold out of the Chuckwagon (the old coffee room). So the Chuckwagon.Don and his crew are making lunch daily Monday through Friday. In order to keep costs low and leftovers down, we are selling tickets in advance. There will be no ticket sales on the weekends. Don needs to know at least three days in advance how many are eating on a certain day. So if you are wanting to eat on Monday you will have to purchase your ticket on Wednesday of the week before. If you are wanting to purchase a ticket for all 5 days (a weekly ticket) the last day to purchase it will also be the Wednesday before. (It will get easier once you start purchasing them). There could possibly be some lunches for walk-ins but there is no guarantees. So many more changes have been made but you will have to see for yourself when you arrive. If you have a friend encourage them to come and visit. Just maybe they will want to stay here also. Brenda and Larry Sims December

4 TEXAS TRAILS RV RESORT The ROUND-UP From the Activity Office Our first five days have zoomed by as the Texas Trails RV Park Activity Directors! (say that five times fast!!) We have met many wonderful people and received advice from many helpful people as well. We both truly appreciate the knowledge you are all willing to share and are thankful for those who have helped out in the Activity Office through our first few days. A little information about us: Larry and I have extensive Management backgrounds in the casino industry including special event development, promotions and customer service. Larry also holds a Bachelor s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Our commitment to Texas Trails and you is to use our varied experience to help yáll have a good time! The upcoming weekend promises to be a fun one with Steven May and the Southern Nights for your dancing pleasure on Friday evening and on Sunday night, Razz-Ma-Tazz will dazzle all again! We hope to see all of you at both events. The craft show occurs on Saturday and we are hoping everyone will turn out to support the talented crews that will have their wares on display and enjoy a light lunch (available while doing so. If you have not yet purchased your New Year s Eve tickets, they are on sale daily (normal hours) at the Activity Office. Tickets are $16 each. Hurry in and get yours, the evening should be a fun one! Once again, thank you all for the warm welcome we have received and we hope to see you at all of the upcoming activities! With warm regards, Larry & Cindy Hague December

16 Holiday Baking Lots to do this busy holiday season? Not much room to bake and store many varieties of cookies? But you still would like to have a variety of cookies for company and gifts? Here s the answer: a cookie exchange! How it works: Bake (or buy?) 5 dozen of your favorite seasonal cookies. Package them on small paper plates of 6 cookies each, covered with plastic wrap. Bring your cookies to the exchange. Put one plate on the table of cookies to share with the whole group. Put 9 plates on the table you signed up for. After a brief social time (we have to enjoy each other s cookies after all!), we ll each pick up 1 of each of the nine plates others brought to our table. (We won t be taking our own cookies home; we are sharing that plate with everyone in the exchange.) On Monday December 11 at 10 am, there will be a cookie exchange in Veteran s Hall. We will organize ourselves in tables of 10, with each of us bringing 5 dozen cookies to share with the others. Each of us will go home with 4 ½ dozen of a variety of cookies. In previous years, we have had 9-14 participants, and each went home with lots of great cookies, some quite plain, some very fancy. Some are shared with company; some are given as gifts. There will be room for 30 participants. Sign up sheets are on the Activity board LINE DANCE CLASS Thursday & Friday 8:30 am 9:15 am Beginning November 30 & December 1 Beginners and Advanced Started teaching in 1993 Come join the fun!!
