HOOFBEATS The newsletter of the CSRA Mustang Club July 2018 Club Officers President: Mike Anchor Vice-President: Don Blackstock Treasurer: Tom Petrak Secretary/Editor: James Aldridge MCA Regional Director: Mark Field Next Meeting: Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Location: Pizza Central 526 N. Belair Drive, Suite 103 Evans, Georgia (In the Home Depot Shopping Center) PAGE 1
From the President Mike Anchor Well, we re in the midst of the dog days of summer! Please make plans to attend the meeting, as we will be presenting the show check to the Rebecca Erryn Moon Foundation. You don t want to miss it! This is why everyone worked so hard to make the show a success. Speaking of the show, be on the lookout for the August issue of the Mustang Times; I hear there s a really good article about the Georgia On My Mind Mustang Show! A few of our club members are now magazine stars! Your executive board has been working on plans for events that we planning on doing for the remainder of the year and possibly into Bring your calendars and mark the dates! We think we ve got some exciting, fun things to do. Some involves getting the Mustangs out and doing some driving events, some are more geared to just doing group things and having fun as a club. Remember 3rd Friday which will be on July 20; location to be determined. I think we had a pretty good turnout in June. We met some new people and gained a few members. Remember, it s the perfect weather for ice cream, so plan on hanging out with us! See y all on July 3! Mike (El Presidente) PAGE 2
From the Vice-President Don Blackstock FREEDOM Happy 4th. of July to everyone! Time to reflect on what we have taken for granted. For the many men and women who served in our armed forces, we THANK YOU. They signed a blank check made out to the United States of America and backed it up with life. We live in the greatest country in the world! July is here and am wondering what happen, seems like times does fly. Now it s time for cookouts, fireworks, swimming and being with family and friends. We have a few things to talk about our next meeting, hope to see ya soon. God Bless America! "The Road Goes On Forever and the Mustang Party Never Ends!!" Don B. PAGE 3

From the Editor James Aldridge Did anybody notice its HOT? I thought so. This is when we start having second thoughts about going to a car event that involves sitting in a parking lot all day with no relief from the sun. Yet we still do it go figure! This past weekend, Jarod and I ventured up to Dawsonville, Georgia to attend the Hot Wheels 50 th Anniversary Legends Tour Car Show. There were a lot of every type of car and truck to ogle and drool over. It s nice to get far enough out of town that you don t see the same core of vehicles over and over. There were also a few of the full size Hot Wheels on display like the Mustang pictured. Hot Wheels is touring the country this summer with these events at 11 different locations. At each event, the car that wins is judged on Hot Wheels guidelines (this ain t your basic MCA judging sheet!), so you can imagine what they are looking for. The winner of each event is invited to compete against the other winners at SEMA in Las Vegas. The winner of that show will have their car or truck made into a Hot Wheels vehicle. How s that for having something to remember your vehicle! The next closest HW Legends event is in Charlotte, NC on July 28. On a more somber note, many of you know that I had heart surgery as a child and now am going through some issues some 50 years later. On July 3, I will be having a stent placed in my pulmonary artery in preparation for more intensive surgery at a later date. So if you don t see me at the meeting, I will be there in spirit from my recovery room at the hospital (I only have to stay over one night). I will be back soon enough to attend all the cruise-ins for this month! If you re not first, then you re last! James Aldridge Secretary/Editor Jaldridge9@comcast.net PAGE 5

YUK, YUCK!! Dad joke Why did the coffee file a police report? It got mugged Nothing ruins a Friday more than an understanding that today is Tuesday. Did you hear about the auto body shop that just opened? It comes highly wreck-a-mended. Q: Is Google male or female? A: Female, because it doesn't let you finish a sentence before making a suggestion. When I lost my rifle, the Army charged me $85. That s why in the Navy, the captain goes down with the ship. PAGE 10
