Bring a snack and join the fun! Swim Team Signups- Huge Success! 79 swimmers (49 families) signed up Sunday 3/7 for the 2010 Sharks swim season (which was a little more than last year s signups). Thank you to the wonderful workers, Virginia Schwiebert, Kristi Kuehn, Veronica Lentfer, Holly Newman, Theresa Ito, Julie LoGrasso, Mary Lund, Coach Christine, Caroline Hayes, Lauren Ward and ice cream super scoopers Bob and Matt!. It was fun to see our swim team families again! LATE REGISTRATION If you were not able to register on the 7 th, there s still time! We need you! You can easily download all of the registration forms from our club website at Click on the Swim Team link on the left side navigation. Or, you can stop by the Club office and pickup the forms as well. Complete the forms and enclose your check and drop them off at the Club office with a note Attention Swim Team. Please contact Caroline Hayes or Lauren Ward with questions ( addresses on left side bar). Adult Volunteer Training Sat. May 1 st! Please plan to attend the annual Parent Volunteer training clinic on Saturday, May 1 st at Saratoga Woods at 8:30am. It is important all starters, stroke and turn judges, and MDM folks attend. We need greater representation at this event to ensure we have enough qualified meet staff. Donuts are usually available to those who arrive on time! Did you mark your calendar? Pool Update/Pre-Season Schedule As you may have read in Rommy s March club newsletter, the pool is scheduled to open March 27th! Pre-Season practice schedule (M-F) April 12th. 6 & under 3:45 4:15pm 7 & 8 4:15 4:45pm (4:00 warm ups) 9 & 10 4:15 5:00pm (4:00 warm ups) 11 & up 5:00 6:00pm (4:45 warm ups) 1

Without these coordinators, our socials cannot take place. The coordinator does not do all the work; they coordinate those who have volunteered to help. In most cases this involves 1 or 2 meetings with the volunteers and communications. Please consider stepping up to be the coordinator or, even better, get a friend and coordinate together. Pasta Feed (June 4): Coordinate the food and activities for the event. (Does not include any coordination of the practice meet.) Raging Waters (June 14): We have one person who is willing to cocoordinate this event with someone. This involves car pool coordination (put signup at club) and purchase tickets. Starlight Swim Party (June 26): Even though this is a full club event, proceeds go to the swim team. We need someone to coordinate the food and activities. Pizza and Move Night (July 8): Coordinate the food and movie for the event. Sleep Over Co-Coordinator (July 17): We have one person who is willing to co-coordinate the food and activities for the event. Awards Ceremony Slideshow Coordinator. This person will take photos during the meets of all the swimmers, gather photos from others who took pictures and then put a slideshow together to show at our awards night after CHAMPS. Friday Treat Schedule Thank you for signing up to bring a treat for the swim team kids on Fridays from April through July. Here s a recap. Please put this on your calendar! You should plan to bring enough treats for about 40 kids. Please have treats ready by 3:45pm. Virginia Schwiebert will be sending out reminders. We have several new items this year including a silicon swim cap personalized with your child s first or last name (two cap order minimum per name), a personalized Sharks towel, and short sleeve knit sport shirts! If your order is received before Friday March 19 th, you will be able to save money on shipping charges. Our vendor is working on setting up a Cupertino Hills clothing website for us. An and link to the site will be ed when it is available. Go Sharks! If you weren t able to order a Sharks swim suit on registration day, there are sample sizes in Rommy s office at the club. If so, please Veronica at vlentfer@sbcglobal.net. Coach s Corner It was great to see so many of you at the Ice Cream Social! I hope you are all as excited as I am for the season to start. Remember, our first practice is on April 12th! I know that is break for some of you but we will still be starting practice for those of you who are here. Also, if you are interested in becoming a Junior Coach or Young Helper, I need you to me by March 22nd to be considered. See you in just a few weeks! Go Sharks! Helper Age Guidelines There have been some questions regarding the age requirements for Assistant and Jr. Coaches, Young Helpers and buy out teens. Below are the guidelines which are also in the swim team handbook. Please address any questions to Caroline Hayes and Lauren Ward. Buy Out Helpers Age 14 and up: This has been the guideline used to fill any spots we cannot fill with adults during swim meets. We try very hard not to use teens to fill adult spots for a variety of reasons. If, however, we cannot fill a spot then we use a teen, 14 and over, and give them the buyout fee. If the teen is competing in the meet, they may only work at the ribbon table or Clerk of the Course for spots not filled by Jr. Coaches. If the teen is older, not swimming, and a member of the club, they can possibly fill other spots. Other teams object when we do this; so, it is only an emergency situation when no adult can be found to work. 3

4 Assistant Coaches: First choice is College age students. If not enough people apply for the position, High School Juniors & Seniors will be considered. Jr. Coaches: High School Age 15 and over Young Helpers: Jr. High School Age 14 and over Club Website Did you know our swim club has a website? Please note that several areas of the swim team site will require a password to get into detailed Champs information, photos, as well as Committee Meeting minutes. The password is the same as last year the first name of Leeann s husband and 99. For example, if his name was Harold, it would be harold99. SHARKS and CLUB Addresses. Another reminder-.
