CROYDON RANGES CRICKET CLUB SEASON 12/13 AGM BOOKLET
PRESIDENT S REPORT Whilst numbers across local cricket are reportedly down, the Croydon Ranges Cricket Club fielded 21 cricket sides in the 2012/13 season. This number is made up of 8 senior sides, 2 veterans and 11 junior sides. Of those 21, 8 made it to play finals cricket. The 1sts, 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, Legends, under 14/1 s, under 12/1 s and the under 12/3 s, with the 3 rd XI taking out our first premiership for several years. Off the field, the club remains in a strong financial position. Subs payments were at 100% this season, and the bar again turned a sizable profit. Social functions are a revenue raiser that needs some fine tuning in the coming years. They are crucial in the running of our cricket club, and it is imperative that club members continue to support these. A big thank you to all the volunteers that ensure the clubs runs from day to day throughout the season. The committee need to be thanked for their efforts. All coaches, particularly the junior coaches need to be thanked for all of the efforts they put in. It is not just game day, but training throughout the week. It is a great time commitment, and thoroughly appreciated. Also to team managers, scorers, training coaches A big thank you to you all. Over the coming season/s, the club needs to focus on maintaining, and also growing numbers. Work has started in exploring the possibility of upgrading our clubrooms. This will not be an easy task, but improving our facilities is something that is long overdue. We have a fantastic setup at Silcock Reserve, but this needs to be complimented with appropriate facilities. 2012/13 was overall, a successful season for the Croydon Ranges Cricket Club. I wish the newly elected committee all the best for the upcoming cricket season. BRENT CROSBIE President
TREASURERS REPORT This season the club has unfortunately made a loss of $ In saying that we have already spent $2,079 on indoor training for next season as well as incurring a cost of $1,320 owing from the high school rental last year. We also had a large electricity bill due to AGL doing an estimated reading rather than checking the metre. For next year we are organising to have the metre checked regularly to get a more accurate reading and avoid these costs going forward. The club made several purchases this year which affected our final numbers but will provide ongoing assistance and use for years to come. At the beginning of the year we spent $4,183 on a bowling machine for use at training which has been in constant use throughout the season and many found it helpful. We spent $1554 to purchase a wireless microphone and speakers for the club which can be used at functions and other events rather than outlaying several hundred dollars every time we needed to hire the equipment. By far the best initiative this year though was the newsletter which we spent $1,800 on. Not only is it a great way to spread news and information about the club, it allowed families and friends to see results, upcoming events, player profiles and sponsors of the club. A massive thanks to Kim Spencer for all her effort this year, the newsletter looked excellent and was a big hit. Highlights for this year were: Grants received $1,000 o Government clothing grant to be used for season 13/14 Bar exceeded budgeted profit even with an increase in cost prices New sponsor this year Dimension Data. Thanks to Chris Noonan who helped organise that sponsorship of the club. Canteen did great business over the course of the year with lots of new food and drink now available. This season the club made a concerted effort to make sure subs were paid early and in full except for extenuating circumstances. While there were some issues this year the club has exceeded budget across seniors, juniors and veterans without increasing subs which is a great effort. The bar made a profit of $18, (which doesn t include bar takings from social functions). While a good result this is mainly brought about by the massive efforts of Ian & Kerrie Spencer who buy all the stock for the club and are always looking out for the best prices available to get us the best return possible. Unfortunately due to increased costs this year we weren t able to get close to our 100% return wish and for next year there will most likely need to be some small price increases to keep up with expenses. Profit from our social functions this year was $1, This includes the Presentation night cost of $5, due to the special members deal as well as a loss of $ for the reunion, $ for Harry s Wake and a $ profit for the junior carnival the club held. This year social was a slight disappointment as we made our budgeted profit for Trivia Night, Cup Day & i-pod Shuffle, but were under budget for the Christmas Party and the Reverse Raffle which is the real money spinner for the club. Due to these issues we didn t manage to hit our expected social profit for the first time in several years which impacts on the final profit for the year. This year our Thursday night food produced a profit of $1, which is an excellent effort. Big thanks go to Robyn & Barry Smith for their efforts on the BBQ during the season and also Daniel Gauci from My Mates Pizza who quite often provided pizza on a Thursday night. The Canteen made a profit of $ (this doesn t include $3, which was salary for canteen and bar staff). This season we had more options in the canteen including milkshakes and toasted sandwiches which were well received.
We continued employing a cleaner to do 2 hours cleaning per week to maintain our rooms. This cost the club $800 this season which is a worthwhile investment as the rooms are cleaner and nicer to be in thanks to Kim Spencer for all her efforts. In summary while we did have a small set back this year, the club is in a very strong position financially (Bank balance of $51,726.46). For the next season we will need to make some small adjustments to keep on course for our aim of making a profit every year to secure our new clubrooms. Chris Whittaker Treasurer

Qualification To be eligible for batting and bowling awards a player must score 250 runs and take 20 wickets respectively. The player must also have played in at least half of his/her sides matches. For bowling awards any candidate must also bowl a minimum of 80 overs during the season. In the event that no player qualifies in a particular grade for batting, the runs requirement is reduced by increments of 50 until one or more players meet the criteria. The same applies to bowling except the number of wickets is reduced by 5 at a time.
