2 PETER CLAPHAM Peter Clapham, a great servant and true legend of Grayshott Cricket Club sadly passed away this March, thereby ending a 70 year association with the club. Peter first started playing for Grayshott Cricket Club in 1948 when he was just 13 and until recent years had an active role in the running of the club and promoting the game of cricket especially in the coaching of young cricketers and establishing Grayshott Cricket Club s excellent reputation for developing young cricketers. Peter fulfilled virtually every role you can imagine in the running of a cricket club; Chairman, Treasurer, Groundsman, Youth Co-ordinator, some of the roles concurrently. On the field of play Peter was a part of the 1969 I Anson and Stevens Cup winning side and led Grayshott to win the Miller Cup in 1983: Peter a left handed batsman was always difficult to get out and with the ball in his hand had that nagging line and length. In recent years, Peter and his wife Betty continued to support the Shotts watching adult and junior matches throughout the summer. He will be sorely missed by everyone at the club.
