PRESIDENT S REPORT Wow what a great season 2014/15 was. With 28 teams competing in 3 different competitions we achieved 7 premierships but more importantly had some great fun and developed as cricketers and as a club. St Pats foundation has always been a family club and this was highlighted by the number of father son combinations playing mens cricket. We even had 3 generations of one family playing in the same team this year. There is something really special about watching a father and son combination batting together or that moment when a dad takes a catch of his son s bowling. They are the reasons I love St Pats. We also had 2 junior players make their first grade debut with Sutherland this year, Dylan Smith and Devlin Malone. We were also appreciative of the Grade club in providing first grade players to lead some of our cricket clinics this year. We continue to invest in our coaches, cricket clinics and equipment to assist every player develop their game. This year saw the passing of Br Hannigan former headmaster of St Pats college and the person responsible for establishing St Pats junior cricket. A big thank you to our sponsors this year, Tradies Boyles and BPD. Without their support we cannot invest in our facilities, coaching and improving the cricket experience. Looking into the future we have a great base to build upon. We are the only cricket club in the shire that offers, mens, juniors and girl cricket. This also brings it challenges and juggling of commitments and priorities. We are always looking for additional volunteers to assist in coaching, managing or on the committee. Finally a big thank you to my wife Vanessa and my boys for putting up with the late night meetings, the phone calls and all sort of cricket gear that lies around the house. Look forward to the next season already Yours in cricket Chris 3

TREASURER S REPORT 2014/15 The St Patricks Cricket Club ends the season with $33, of cash in its accounts, a net operating cash surplus of $10, from the previous season. The increase in cash is a result of higher junior and men s team registration numbers, the non-recurrence of the light installation project and St Pats welcoming $7,000 worth of new sponsorship from Tradies and Boyles Hotel Sutherland. The club sold down a lot of previous year s clothing and cap stock with the view to restock with new designs in the 2015/16 season with part of this funded from the years surplus. St Pats continues to invest in the training of our club coaches and will continue to pursue sponsorship to reinvest back into our clubs facilities and equipment. 4

ST. PATRICK'S CRICKET CLUB CRICKETER OF THE YEAR ANGUS CLARKE Angus is a very unassuming personality who surprises with his "can do" attitude - a captains delight. His ability with the bat and ball is outstanding - where he is able to penetrate even the most proficient batsmen' s technique with the ball or send many opening bowlers to the boundary. Angus is extremely respectful, honours and embodies the spirit of cricket in all that he does. He is a fantastic ambassador for the game and has a strong future in the game. His ability was even recognised be Randwick/Petersham grade club on selection in their under 16 Green Shield side. Angus has all the attributes of a dominate first grade player who will command respect with his actions and deeds on and off the field in the future. Congratulations on junior cricketer of the year. St Patrick's cricket club could not get a more worthy subject. Angus well deserved and please look at the past players awarded the trophy - you are in fine company and keep walking in their steps in the future. 6

ST. PATRICK'S CRICKET CLUB CRICKETER OF THE YEAR ELLIOTT BROOKES It is an honour to be given the opportunity to pen a few words about the St. Patrick's Cricket Club cricketer of the year, Elliott Brookes. Elliott started with the club 10 seasons ago, starting as a 5 year old in the under 8's. My first recollection of him was watching him play in the 10A final in the 2007/08 season. Standing on the sideline watching the game and talking to Life Members Brian Quinn and Bob Duff, the conversation was stopped abruptly by Bob. "Look at that kid! Look how straight his bat is when he plays forward!". Elliott was 7 and I told Bob. His surprised response had to be censored. From that time, I have seen Elliott's game continue to grow and flourish. He has developed from that technically correct but somewhat limited (mainly by size) opening bat, into one of the dominant batsmen of his age group. Now his good defense is accompanied by the full range of attacking strokes that you expect from a class batsman. Added to this is Elliott's pace bowling, which troubles most batsmen. Overall his career figures has him sitting in 10th place, all time, for batting with 1996 runs in juniors. For bowling, Elliott currently has 89 wickets and another season may see him top 100 in juniors. This would be a rare feat since the introduction of bowling restrictions, especially for someone who has played predominantly A grade. This season Elliott has scored 328 runs at an average of 32.8 and taken 7 wickets at an average of 13.43, along with 8 catches in the field and another whilst keeping. Added to this is his astute captaincy of a young but very talented team, leading them to a final not many had thought achievable at the start of the season. I know Elliott is destined to play the game at much higher levels over the coming seasons and I feel sure he will play in a manner which will make us proud that he learned his cricket at St. Pat's. Congratulations Elliott. Adam Young Life Member 7

! Junior Report FEMALE CRICKETER OF THE YEAR THERESA WILDE This has been another exceptional year for girls cricket at St Patricks. There have been many excellent performances from individuals and teams. This years winner of the Female Cricketer of the Year is Theresa Wilde who has performed at a consistently high level over the past few seasons. As captain of the Girls Green Team she has shown great leadership and friendship to her fellow players and has always shown respect to the opposition. This year Theresa broke the Division 1 batting aggregate record, scoring 265 runs at an average of The T20 format of the competition requires players to retire at 25, with girls only able to return to the crease at the fall of the last wicket, if overs permit. In a game against Bankstown, Theresa returned to the crease to continue her innings and scored 71 not out (a girls club record), with 32 runs off the last 2 overs. This batting enabled the Green team to record the only defeat of Bankstown for the competition and lifted them into equal first on the overall standings. Theresa also performed well with her leg spin bowling picking up 5 wickets from her 33 overs (including 8 maidens). She also took 2 catches and 4 run-outs. Theresa was a key member of the SSJCA U14D side which were both minor and major premiers. Theresa could have played in the U12 competition, however chose to play above her grade to play with other girls in the U14 s. This experience and her willingness to be a team and club player saw her selected to play as a substitute in the U16B side for two matches. As a reward for all her hard work and enthusiasm, Theresa was also invited to play in the Sutherland-St George Slayers U17 Brewer Shield side late in the season, taking a wicket and batting with confidence. Theresa has a very bright future and we look to seeing her taking out many more awards. 8

! Junior Report ST PATRICK S 8 BLUE It was a pleasure to be involved in our boy s cricket development this season. An experience we were all lucky to be a part of. Although the performances on the board were not all there I feel the little fellows showed marked improvements in all disciplines of the game. They are still so young but are slowing developing patience and understanding of the game. Cricket is sometimes hard for the boys to get their heads around. So it is Awesome to every now and then hear the boys encouraging each other on the field, with some lovely gestures. Hey don t get me wrong there is some crazy stuff said as well (pretty hilarious stuff actually). It was a lovely blend of the boy s unique personalities and beautiful nature that made it all worthwhile. I thank all the parents for their help, time and support. Both Glenn and I tried to make it as fair as possible giving the boys equal opportunity on the pitch. There may have been a few occasions where we might have got it wrong, but I hope it was not too much of a problem. Thanks to all the dads and mums who helped out at training on Fridays and at the game on Saturday s.friday training for me is a nice way in finishing the schooling and working week coaching and chatting with parents and, chilling with our boys. A special thanks to Matt who expertly coached and trained the boys Matt can t get there on most Saturdays but has never missed a Friday session. To Glenn our manager, who was a huge help this season managing the team in all areas. Its hard juggling work and kids stuff so mate it was very much appreciated. At the end of the day we are all Dads and mums, with healthy kids who love to watch our kids participate in sport. The biggest thanks goes to our Scorer and social director Dianne, she hesitantly took the role on and has done an amazing job getting her head around it all and submitting scores on time to the association.thanks to Stubbsy in helping out with his financial wizardry when Dianne was unavailable. To all the umpires cheers, I tell you it s hard to count to six. It is a little sad that we will not be playing together next season as some boys are going up to the Under 10s and some boys staying in 8s, I do hope their paths may cross together the following year. I wish everyone all 9

the luck in their winter sports and hope to see you next season playing one of the greatest sports in the world. COME ON PATS.. Aayan (The rocket) Kafle has improved and shown when he listens it does pay dividends improved both with ball and the bat and played his best innings against Caringbah in not giving up his wicket and showed some guts and determination. His bowling action is also developing well and with a rocket of an arm will be a force. Still a youngster and will be a talent to be reckoned with in season, but needs to do a little bit of off season training 15/16. Raffael (Style master) Mramor is a cricket tragic loves the game and that shows his bowling action was 100% improved from last season and was the most consistent throughout the entire season. Raffs showed that he watches a bit of cricket as he plays some copy book cover drives. Considering he broke his leg and missed a few games his running between wickets was pretty slick, always put his hands up to wicket keep, giving a 100%. His fielding has reached a new level with safe soft hands in the catching department. One of the many comedians in the team always has a story to tell. Riley (Composer) O Brien. With his trade mark approach to the bowling crease where the ball seems to slip from his grip to, his absolute screamer of a catch Riley is the man. Riley has developed out of sight into a handy cricketer. Showed he has an awesome hook / pull shot and a tidy defence his new long and aggressive run up will be a force next season.. He is one the best callers between the wickets and fielders in the team. Still spins a good yarn to the umpires. Lachlan (The All-rounder) Stubbs, The most fluent run up and bowling action in the district, very natural. Will benefit next season when he can bowl several overs. Lachie played a few magnificent innings this season but also showed good temperament and good shot selection. Lachie is a gifted fielder who again showed his talent this season with catches and run outs that the Aussie cricket team would be proud of. A lovely trait of Lachies is encouragement to his team mates. (except to his brother). Asher (The Wriggler) Vanderwert, Improved out of sight with bat and ball. Played a couple of nice innings where he did not get out. Asher bowled some good spells taking several wickets also chases hard in the field always putting his body on the line. Mum always whinging about his dirty grass stained pants. But the highlight for me as a dad was the back-up run out and the catch in the outfield, apparently the coach is sometimes too hard on him but that bit of fielding was awesome. Well done son. Hugh (Point Man) Windon, One of the best if not the best listeners in team. In his rookie year Hughey, has easily been the most improved. His bowling has come on leaps and bounds landing most balls in the right places resulting in a bag full of wickets. The best batting stance in the side with a good eye and that has resulted in some good knocks. Never relinquishes his PM fielding position, with a good set of hands, chases the ball all around the park and always eager to wicket keep. Jack (The Mid Show) Ennis when it comes to enthusiasm Jack certainly possess that one of the keenest on the park, surprised everyone this season with his raw talent, and took to the game like a duck to water. Showed raw power with the bat early on but then batted sensibly selecting what ball to hit. Always eager to get on strike, this made him a good runner between the wickets. Jacks versatility in the bowling department switching from pace to spin while maintaining his accuracy was special. One of the best all round fielders on the park with some memorable run outs and catches. Kalan (The Wiz) Stubbs the pocket dynamo has excelled in all areas his determination is second to none. Sometimes it s hard being a little brother of a team mate but not for this little fellow all guts and grit. His batting has been very consistent playing some lovely innings. Watch this spot next season where K will hit a truck load of runs. K bowling has improved out of sight still a youngster but line and length and accuracy was pretty good. A Terrier on the park chasing everything down and never gives up. Always willing to have ago playing well above his weight. Evan (Mr Versatile) Wright, had a solid year but never reached his full potential, bound to shine next season. Played some good innings and some lovely strokes but his best is yet to come. Bowled good spells landing some cracking deliveries resulting in some well-deserved wickets still finding his bowling action. He was our go to man in the wicket keeping department and did an outstanding job behind the stumps and in the return of the ball back to the bowler. Evan still claims one of the best wicket celebrations in the team. Ziggy (The quite Assassin) James showed huge improvement in the bowling department much more consistent than last season landing a lot more on the pitch accompanied with some pace, will be a lethal leftie went he gets it right. Ziggys batting has reached a new level and played a memorable innings at 10

Caringbah showing patience and a good shot selection. Always chases hard in the field, with a dynamite arm, when he starts the Come on Pats Chant it was a domino effect across the park with all the boys embracing the call. UNDER 8 WHITES The under 8 whites are a team of boys that never give up. A group of boys, of different ages and schools, that have become a team during the 2014/15 cricket season. They have grown both in friendship and knowledge of the game of cricket. There was no better moment when in round 9 on a wet Saturday morning in Caringbah the boys secured their first win. Thank you boys and supporters for a great season. We hope to see you all again next year. Beau Look out opponents, Beau is the run out champion of the team! He is quick to the ball in the field and even quicker at aiming and hitting the stumps. His strength in his bowling and a batting improves every game. We hope to see you continue to improve in the seasons to come. Ben - The pocket rocket of the team. Ben is quick in the field, fast between the wickets and watch out for those fast balls down the crease. Ben you have been an outstanding member of the team. Well done. Dylan Bowling is becoming a speciality for Dylan. His commitment to the game and improving his skills has shone through throughout the season. Dylan always has a smile on his face even when he is bowling his best to the opposing batsmen. Well done! Flynn Possibly the youngest player at St Pats this year but definitely one to watch. Not even starting kindergarten stopped Flynn from connecting bat and ball. Regardless of his role in the team Flynn always amazed the spectators. Well done on an outstanding first cricket season. Harrison A new sportsman was introduced to the game of cricket this year and what a cricketer he is. Harrison s overall cricketing know how has improved immensely this season. He never gives up and when his eye is in his bowling is on the money Great memories of your first wicket, Harrison. Harry B - Wicket keeper extraordinaire! This boy loves to get the gloves on and stop those quick singles. Harry is a cricketer that loves to celebrate the wickets taken by all his team mates. Congratulations on a great season! Harry C A true gentleman of the game and the team. When Harry steps up to bowl he is focused and accurate. His batting technique is the same. In the field he watches the ball and is quick to find the ball and get it to the stumps. Well done on another great season Harry. Liam This new cricketer never gives up. Liam, we are so proud of your efforts this season. The improvement in speed both in bowling and between the wickets is commendable. You have never given up. Marley - A cricketer who gives his all in every aspect of the game. Marley has worked hard to improve his game. He turns his hand to bowling, fielding, wicket keeping and batting with ease, a great all rounder of the game. Congratulations Marley on a superb season. 11

ST PATRICK S 10A Picture: Cameron Smith, Spencer Kleemann, Ben Porter, Mitchell Hodgson, Sarah Heptinstall, Jeremy benjamin, Nicholas Palermo, Archie Cook, Taylah Withers, Tom Croucher (Coach). Absent: Corbin Parkes, Lachlan Jarvis, Chris Smith (Asst Coach) We started the year with 9 players from 4 different teams and 2 new players. But in no time the team was playing as a united group that stuck together on the field and off the field. They were always in the nets bowling to each other, playing handball or some other game of their own creation. As a result they had a good year on the field. Finishing 4 th in 10A was a real achievement, and made possible by always being prepared to work hard at practice. Archie Cook earned the nickname Jordan Silk for one of his very good and freakish catches. His bowling got faster and more accurate as the season progressed and his enthusiasm was contagious. He was a good wicket keeper and was always looking for batters out of their crease. Ben Porter was the star of the team with the ball. His line and length was so consistent he got wickets in 9 out of 10 innings and only conceded 2 runs per over. With 12 wickets in the season he was the top wicket taker. Towards the end of the season Ben s confidence grew as a batter grew but there were not many opportunities for a long innings. Cameron Smith showed great determination as batter; he put on good partnerships with other batters when they were needed, and prevented a few team collapses by refusing to be dismissed. Cameron was always an enthusiastic fielder and could be relied on to bowl well. He also excelled as a wicket keeper; with good hands and always looking for a run out. Corbin Parkes played many important innings for the team; staying in and helping us avoid a collapse. He was a good cutter and hooker of the ball and will score a lot more runs when opposition bowling is a bit 12

quicker. Corbin s bowling improved as the season went on and he was a good wicket keeper; taking the only caught behind for the season. Jeremy Benjamin was the specialist slips fielder due to his good catching. By the end of the season his bowling improved significantly and he developed frightening pace. His batting was often short and sweet; but he can hit the ball with power. Lachlan Jarvis is without doubt the quietist person on the field, but he is a determined player. This showed up in his batting; when we wanted him to stay in he would stay in. Five times in ten innings he remained not out. His bowling improved during the season and he got some valuable wickets. Unfortunately he broke his wrist and missed the last game, but showed his great team spirit turning for the last day. Mitchell was the big improver this season. Once he became a bit more patient he started to score runs. Three times he scored over 20 runs and showed good skills with cover drives and hook shots. By the end of the season he had a really safe pair of hands and took 8 catches, the most in the team. But the biggest improvement came in bowling; Mitchell developed a good bowling action and with good pace and accuracy. Well done Mitchell. Nicholas Palermo was the backbone of the team. He opened the batting and got to double figures 8 times in 10 innings. With 210 runs he was one of the highest run-scorers in 10A; and in bowling he was a miser conceding only runs per over. In the field he took catches, got run outs and chased every ball to cut off runs. Great season Nicholas. Sarah did the tough job of opening the batting and always got us off to a good start. Her bowling is consistently accurate; but in the field she showed her toughness. She never backed away from a ball and was back for more whenever she got hit fielding or keeping wickets. Sarah seems relish the challenges in cricket. Spencer was the rookie of the year, with his fast and accurate bowling. He conceded less than 2 runs per over and took 8 wickets. He took some good catches and is a hard hitter of the ball. Playing 10A in your first year of cricket is a tough assignment, but Spencer took it in his stride; we can look forward to seeing him get better and better. Taylah batted and bowled with style. Her defence is good and her batting is getting more aggressive. Her bowling got better as the season progressed; and her accuracy made it very hard for opponents to score runs. By the end of the season her improved bowling action enabled her to bowl much quicker and that will earn her a lot more wickets. Thank you every player who helped make the team such a pleasure to coach. Thank you to the parents who were always so keen to help; and a big thank you to Chris for helping so much with the coaching and the umpiring. ST PATRICKS 10C I would like to thank all our children for a fun season of cricket and for looking after their coach in his first season as a cricket coach. Looking back on our season which started as a modified game, we gained confidents with the bat playing an attacking style of cricket, which was great to see and on the back of having runs on the board the rest of our game, bowling and fielding was going well. Mid season sore the transition into traditional cricket format, with very wet outfields and our team now knowing once your out your out our attacking style of batting and run rate slowed, we soon realised the importance of a nice loud call and running between the wicket which towards the end of the season we were starting to master. A big thank you to our manager Kelly Spooner for a very smoothly run season, Jamie for putting his hand up to score each week, Matt for coming off the bench to fill in as coach and score when required. Thanks to our parents for a couple of yummy bbq s and for getting their kids to training every week. Player profile 13

! Junior Report Kai- Fun player to watch with the bat, low in his stance and ready to pounce, head down Kai keep on firing. Thomas- Keen to have a crack at everything cricket, batting, bowling, fielding a good all-rounder, great stuff. Jake- Big improver with the ball, your strong looping delivery s made it very tough for the opposition to play. Cooper- Great striker of the ball, I loved seeing the ball flying off your new bat, keep on attacking that ball Coop s! Jed- Our team s live wire, on your toes in the field always keen for a sneaky single and consistent with the ball. Ben- Quiet achiever, good listener, you bowled with great accuracy with plenty of swing and a keen fielder in all positions. Zane- A great encouraging voice to his team mates in the field, never afraid to have a big swing with the bat, Keep at it Zane! James- Very handy as keeper, you put your body on the line to stop that ball, your bowling was fast moving and on the stumps, good luck with future hat-tricks. Brayden- Big hitter, started the season wanting boundaries, finished the season with alot of bright cherries on his bat, continue playing your shots. Brooklyn- Showed class and a nice loud voice calling runs between wickets, can bowl a maden or two as well. Angus- Great technique with the ball, you regularly bowled a nice line and length and took some memorable catches throughout the season, good stuff Gus. Jordan- Over came some early trouble with his bating pads to knock the ball around the park with some handy scoring with the bat. Well done Jordan. ST PATRICK S 12A Coaches: Ben Connell and Mathew Duff 14

A very successful season for the St Pats 12A s, finishing runners up to a very strong Caringbah Sports team. With only 3 boys from our premiership winning 12A team the season before and 4 boys who were experiencing A grade cricket for the first time, it was a terrific achievement. We lost 2 of our first 3 games of the season quite convincingly, but to the boys credit they didn t let that worry them and went on to win 6 of our remaining 7 games. Some of those wins were tight games, particularly against Bangor and Engadine, but the boys played well in those pressure situations and our more experienced players really stood up in those games to get us home. We fought very hard in the final and with better execution in the field at some crucial moments could have really have given it a good shake. It wasn t to be and Caringbah were much deserved premiers going through the season undefeated. This group of young men were well behaved, courteous and displayed all the traits of good sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the season. We were privileged to coach these players who are a credit to St. Patricks Cricket Club. A big thank you to all the wonderful parents who always offered help and made themselves available when needed. A special mention to Derek Nolan our scorer for his devotion and player wagon wheels. We all like to look up the results online and Derek is to thank for input of the scores each week. We wish every player and their families the best of success in the future and thank you all for making this a memorable cricket season. Player name Comments Coaches tips Jett Connell Will Duff Opening bowler, equal leading wicket taker (12), best bowling average (11) and strike rate (24). Jett swings the ball away from the right handers at handy pace and has plenty of room for improvement with the bat, but shows good application. An excellent fielder and reliable catcher, Jett enjoys his role in the team and loves a good joke. Captain, wicket keeper (12 catches and 3 stumpings, most wicket keeping dismissals in the competition), opening bat or No ), Cawsey Shield representative. Absolutely no responsibility on this player at all! Will has a wickedly dry sense of humour and a very astute cricket brain. Well respected by team mates and one to watch as he develops physically and gains power in his stroke play. Sort out run up Good habits in batting practice Back yourself Work on keeping Physical fitness Aim to bat for 100 balls minimum Keep back foot on ground Jarrod Graham Austin Hewitt First time in A grade and Jarrod loved the challenge. A handy right arm medium pace inswing bowler ( , highest percentage of maidens 25%) and lower order hard striker of the ball, Jarrod is passionate, takes advice and works extremely hard at his game. Congratulations to Jarrod on receiving the Coaches Award for 2014/15. First year player who had an unfortunate start to the season with a broken arm. Once he got his confidence back Austin settled well into the team and performed well with limited opportunities. Strike rate of 26 (5 13.2) with the ball second only to Jett (24). I m predicting a big year for Austin in 2015/16 with both bat and ball. Play straight Use change of pace Work on fielding & catching Work on fielding & catching Running between wickets Building an innings 15

Player name Comments Coaches tips Angus Morrison James Morrison Opening bowler (9 14.4), middle order bat ( r u n ) a n d C a w s e y S h i e l d representative. Angus improved his pace and line as the season progressed to be one of the leading bowlers. Solid batting performances with the highlight being his 62 against Gymea, leading catcher (7) with two run outs. Another of our first year boys, James is an extremely confident player. Always wanting to be in the action. Bats in a traditional Calypso style ( ) and likes to bowl pace even though his coach sees potential as an off spin bowler (6 14). With another year in U/12 s James has plenty of time to experiment. Value your wicket Build an innings Running between wickets Work on ground fielding Choose pace or spin Work on fielding & catching Running between wickets Richard Nolan Opening bat, leading run scorer (second highest in the completion) and highest average ( ), leg spin bowler ( ) and Cawsey Shield representative. Richard is a pleasure to coach, applies himself and takes advice. Tripled his previous years run tally, primarily by positive running between wickets and putting a high value on his wicket. Fantastic all round season Richard. Batting grip (bottom hand) Get right hip through the bowling crease, follow through Mackenzie Roche This guy is the ultimate competitor, demonstrated by his gutsy innings in the final where he was asked to open the batting with specific instructions to get through to the drinks break and that he did. A terrific athlete, Macca scored and took 3 wickets and 4 catches. A real team player and one with plenty of improvement in him. A great player to coach. Feet position when batting Bowling run up Ground fielding & catching Leo Smithson Leaping Leo Smithson had a super season with , scored and was a Presidents Cup representative. Leo enjoys his cricket (almost as much as dad Pete!) and is developing into a very wily leg spinner with lots of variation and control. Leo is a solid bat who can be relied upon to put maximum value on his wicket at all times. Congratulations on a terrific season Leo. Pace and flight Batting strike rate (look for singles) Ground fielding & catching Running between wickets Ethan Tanner Ethan batted in the middle order ( ) and took 4 wickets with his handy medium pacers. Ethan will be a better cricketer for having the experience of A grade and with hard work on his fielding and running between wickets he will look forward to future success. Ethan s catching was a feature of his game with 6 for the season, 1 behind Angus and equal with Jarrod. Turning strike over/running between wickets Bowling run up & follow through Ground fielding 16

Player name Comments Coaches tips Harrison Vanags When Harry wasn t in traction his bowling was outstanding (6 15.5) and the figures don t show several dropped catches as well. Harry has a terrific attitude to cricket and life in general and, if he can stay away from the microwave, season 2015/16 promises to be a big one for him. Batting application and running between wickets Bowling run up & follow through Ground fielding & catching Joshua Wood Josh batted in the top order (150 and took a couple of wickets with limited bowling opportunities. Josh hits the ball as sweetly as any player in the competition. With work on building an innings he has a bright future. Josh took advice on board and this showed in his performances. Well done Josh. Batting application and running between wickets Ground fielding & catching ST PATRICK S 12B Back row: Damien Kleeman, Liam Van Ravenstien, Joshua Witts, Jayden Matthews, Brandon Smithson, Sam Vanags Front row: Harry Marr, Nelson Howard, Sam Shepard, Xavier De Domenico, Oliver Roche, Huon Whittingham Coach Brian Smithson, Dave Witts Manager Duncan Howard Season 2014 / 2015 was not a successful season on the competition table for the 12B s, the reality was that the cricket in the grade was of a very high standard and winning games was always going to be a challenge. However our bowling was the equal of, if not better than most other team s in the competition, at no time did any team get away from us with the bat. If we had scored a few more runs on occasion I m sure we would had a much more successful season. 17

The season was a success in terms of the boys development and enjoyment of the game and they should be proud of the way they performed on the field this year. Also, we did manage to win a few games along the way! Thank you to Nellon Matthews for scoring throughout the year, and thank you to all the parents for coming along supporting the boys each week and helping out when required, be it scoring or warming the boys up before play. It was a real pleasure to coach this team and we are already looking forward to next season. Xavier De Domenico is an accurate and probing in-swinging bowler who has great enthusiasm for the game. If he keeps his positive attitude going the results will come. Xavier under-rated his batting this year, he strikes the ball well, all he needs is a little confidence. Nelson Howard was our opening bowler who bowled great line and length. He has work to do on his batting but has great potential to go far in this game. Nelson also showed great sportsmanship on the field at all times and should be commended for this. Damian Kleemann is a first year cricketer who immediately showed potential. He opened the bowling delivering the ball faster than anyone else and is capable of bowling an unplayable delivery. With batting he has a great eye and good technique and with some application will score a ton of runs. Harrison Marr is an excellent middle order batsman who is a great striker of the ball. He also shows great potential as a bowler as long as he keeps bowling fast. Jayden Matthews showed a lot of improvement as the season progressed with a excellent work ethic, particularly with his bowling. Jayden has a good eye with the bat and with an improved technique the runs will come. Keep working hard and the results will follow. Oliver Roche is an excellent slow medium bowler who also kept wicket. Oliver turned a couple of games this year with his dropping deliveries which were hard to score off. Oliver also did a great job keeping behind the wickets when called upon. Sam Shepherd was probably the best all-rounder on the team threatening to win both batting and bowling awards. Sam also kept wicket for the team doing a fantastic job. Sam s most difficult choice will be which way to go with his cricket. Bowling leg spin or keeping? He will go well in whatever he chooses. Brandon Smithson shows excellent potential as a batsman, but his strength lies with his accurate medium pace bowling. A consistent wicket taker who gives nothing away to the batsman. Liam Van Ravenstein opened the batting most of the year and deserved to do so. Liam showed the best technique and as he grows stronger will be a real force with a bat in his hand. With the ball in his hand he turned a few games in our favour, particularly when he slowed his pace down and through it up to entice the batsmen. Sam Vanags shows great application while batting, capable of batting for long periods and did so on occasion, with time he will develop into a great batsman. Sam s bowling improved throughout the season and with more work will develop into a handy bowler. Sam was probably our best catcher this year. Huon Whittingham showed great leadership in everything he does whether it s batting, bowling, in the field or at practice. Shows excellent potential in all facets of the game, he deserved the new ball more often and probably could have batted higher more regularly, great team player and an asset to any team. Joshua Witts bowls medium paced out-swing and when he got it right was impossible to score off. Josh did an excellent job keeping behind the wickets and was happy to open the batting when called upon. Josh showed great enthusiasm in the field doing an excellent job particularly when roaming the boundary. Coaches: Manager: Brian Smithson Dave Witts Duncan Howard 18

! Junior Report ST PATRICK S 12C Back row (L-R): Luke Jarvis, Koby Porter, Rafael Hohle, Jed Basile, Luke Hodgson, Michael Mramor, Jasper Arthur. Front row (L-R): Luke O Riordan, Joshua Ryan, Ryan Ackerman, Evan Richardson, Nathan Chapman. The 12C s was a very competitive grade in 2014/15. In prior seasons in other age divisions and grades there have usually been some stronger and some weaker teams in each grade. However the teams in the 12C s this season were all very evenly matched which meant that there were no easy games and every week was very challenging. The St Pats 12C team started the season strongly and were in second place by mid-season. However the team were involved in a number of close games in the second half of the season where we either fell just short of a target or were run down in the last over or two by the opposition. There were patches of brilliance by the players and as a team, but there were also patches of poor fielding and bowling as well as the occasional batting collapse when the game seemed in hand. So a slightly disappointing season, but certainly a challenging and eventful season. Notwithstanding a tough season and not making the final, the boys had a lot of fun playing and training, as well as continuing to develop and improve their cricketing skills. Which meant we achieved our main objectives for the season. Ryan Ackerman - This was Ryan s first year of cricket and he showed great promise. Ryan was a handy medium pace bowler and batsman, and by mid-season had also developed into a good wicketkeeper. Ryan took 8 catches for the season and 4 of those were whilst he was behind the stumps. Besides his wicket 19

keeping, a memorable moment for Ryan during the season was his textbook batting with Michael in round 9 against Bosco to avoid an outright loss. Ryan and Michael batted very patiently and watchfully for 15 overs in drizzly conditions to save the team. Ryan was also joint man of the match in round 10 due to his 3 catches in that match. Jasper Arthur - Another successful season of cricket for Jasper. Jasper opened the batting and was also one of the fast bowlers in the team. When opening the batting Jasper could be relied upon to get the team off to a solid start. Jasper s top score for the season was 54 not out (followed by a forced retirement). Jasper s bowling speed and consistency improved markedly throughout the season and he picked up 6 wickets. Jasper would be brought on as a first change bowler and could be relied upon to tie batsmen down with accurate line and length. This usually led to frustrated batsmen and wickets for St Pats. Jasper earned man of the match against Como Jannali in round 6 for an all-round effort scoring runs with the bat as well as taking wickets and a catch. Jed Basile - Jed was new to the St Pats club this season, but had earned his stripes playing previously for the Miranda club. Jed was another all-rounder in the team. Jed top scored for the team with a very quick 56 against Bosco in round 4. Jed and Luke Hodgson managed to chase down Bosco s target that required the boys to score at 5 runs an over for 25 overs. It had the crowd on their feet and was an amazing finish to the game. Jed s consistent efforts with the bat resulted in him ending the season with the second highest aggregate and second highest average runs. For bowling, Jed was the left arm quick of the team and picked up 5 wickets for the season. Jed also took 5 catches and made 2 run-outs an admirable allround effort for the team. Besides his exploits on the field, Jed always showed great maturity and was eager to learn during training sessions. Nathan Chapman - It was a step up in age division this year for Nathan and he continued to develop his batting and bowling during the season. Nathan took a shining to leg spin bowling during the season and picked up 4 wickets. Nathan wasn t a big turner of the ball, but his loop and bounce challenged the opposition batsmen. Nathan was also a very watchful batsman and never threw his wicket away with a rash shot. A memorable moment during the season was when Nathan batted in the middle order in round 5 and stabilised the innings when Caringbah had been getting on top. Luke Hodgson - Luke was another stellar recruit for St Pats this year from the Miranda club. Luke is a very mature cricketer and was an obvious choice as captain in round 1. Luke is a talented all-rounder with an excellent batting technique and another of the team s fast bowlers. Luke was half of the outstanding batting partnership with Jed against Bosco in round 4 and together they chased down what we all thought was an impossible target thankfully they proved us wrong! Luke picked up 6 wickets with his bowling and there is still potential for further increases in pace. Luke was also one of the best fielders in the team taking 4 catches and making a run-out. Rafael Hohle - Rafael is a real team player who brought enthusiasm and spirit to the team. Rafael was always on hand to encouraged team mates whilst in the field and was also keen to learn how he could improve his cricketing skills. Rafael earned the man of the match award in round 2 against Gymea with a sterling batting effort to accumulate his highest score for the season. Rafael also picked up two wickets with the ball and took a catch. A memorable moment in the season was Rafael s braveness in attempting to stop a very flat 6 that had been smashed towards a short square leg boundary by a Caringbah batsman. It was an amazing effort just reaching the ball, but most boys of his age would not have even attempted to make the catch. In the end, Rafael didn t hold the catch and did some damage to his hand, but his courageous effort to try save a very close match for the team is to be admired. Luke Jarvis - Luke was another convert from the Miranda club and instantly made an impact, top scoring for the team in the first two games of the season. Luke was a very watchful batsman who seemed to have all the time in the world at the crease to play his shots, and he could also switch to a more attacking mode when required during run chases. Luke s highest score with the bat was 50 not out which he achieved a couple of times and gracefully retired on each occasion. Luke scored the most runs for the team and achieved the highest average with the bat. Luke was also a very handy bowler and switched from medium pace to leg spin during the season. Luke picked up 12 wickets as well as 3 catches and one run-out a high performer who could be relied on to be always concentrating and thinking about the status of the game. 20

Michael Mramor - Michael was one of the wicketkeepers in the team and took 3 catches during the season. Wicket keeping in this team was a difficult task due to the team containing 5 genuine quick bowlers and 3 leg spinners. However the biggest improvement in Michael s cricketing skills this season was his bowling. Michael stepped up from a slow to a medium pace bowler with considerable more accuracy than the prior season. When Michael wasn t wicket keeping his medium pacers would build pressure and he picked up 2 wickets off a low number of overs bowled. Michael earned the man of the match award in round 9 for his efforts with Ryan to save the team from an outright loss. Michael led the way with patient batting in wet conditions that frustrated Bosco and saved the day. Luke O`Riordan - Luke was one of the middle order batsmen who also bowled medium pace. When batting Luke demonstrated high concentration when required against the opposition s fast bowlers keeping them at bay. However having weathered the storm, Luke tended to relax a bit too much against the other bowlers. Luke survived a pressure situation towards the end of the match against Bosco to eventually hit a boundary to bring up victory in the final over. Luke also picked up 4 wickets with the ball, took a catch and made a run-out during the season. Koby Porter - Koby was another Miranda import for the team and proved the quickest of the fast bowlers picking up 11 wickets for the season. Koby was a new ball bowler and always struck fear in the opposition s openers usually resulting in an early wicket or two for St Pats. Koby was also an excellent fielder. Koby took 7 catches during the season the team s highest. One of the early wickets in game 1 resulted from Koby holding a very difficult catch at short point that was hit like a rocket those on the sideline stood to applaud the amazing catch! Koby also had the strongest throwing arm in the team and saved many runs with his long throws from the deep. With Koby s ability to put pressure on the opposition s opening batsmen and his first-rate fielding skills, he earned man of the match awards in rounds 5 and 7. Evan Richardson - For most of the season Evan opened the batting with Jasper and they usually managed to get the team off to a solid start. Evan also spent quite a bit of time on wicket keeping duties for the team, taking 4 catches. However by the second half of the season Evan had fine-tuned his leg spin bowling which meant he spent less time behind the stumps and more time with the ball in hand. Evan is a large turner of the ball and also gets surprising bounce, which often had the opposition s batsmen frustrated. Evan s consistency with his leggies resulted in him picking up 7 wickets. Evan also managed one run-out and earned joint man of the match in round 10 with 3 wickets. Joshua Ryan - Josh was another of the quicks and usually opened the bowling with Koby. Josh s bowling was always challenging the batsmen and he finished with 6 wickets for the season. Josh was also a very reliable fielder with a decent throwing arm. Josh held 3 catches and made 2 run-outs for the season one of the catches being a screamer at first slip to dismiss the opposition s best batsman. Josh frequently asked thoughtful questions during training and games which showed his eagerness to develop his skills and also his understanding of the game. ST PATRICK S 12E Overall, a very pleasing season indeed by the boys. We started off the season in strong form, winning our matches in the first five rounds of the competition. We then came up against some of the stronger teams in the competition and couldn t quite keep that strong form going against them, losing our next three matches before finishing the season off well with a bye and a solid win. Even our losses were hard fought matches with very little in it between victory and defeat. Although we finished the season fourth on the ladder, there was really only one game in it as we had a superior quotient to all other teams in the competition, including the top placed, undefeated team. I am very proud of all of our boys that played this season. They all took the field in the true spirit of the game and conducted themselves as gentlemen at all times. Several times during the season, our players walked when they knew they were out when the umpire mistakenly gave them not out. This is just one example of the respectful way our boys acted on and off the field while having fun at the same time. Our boys all showed a love for the game, played hard but fair and I think all finished the season with a few more skills than they started with. What more could we ask of a season of cricket. Well done everyone. 21

Congratulations to Aaron Hunter for taking out the batting average and aggregate and to Armaan Sooch for the best bowling average and aggregate. Also congratulations to Kurtis Dent for taking out the coaches award. Kurtis performed well all season and was always ready with a smile to take on whatever role we, as coaches asked him to do. A big thank you to Dan Hunter, who took on the coaching of the team with me this year. Your constant assistance and enthusiasm was key to us all having an enjoyable and productive season. Not to mention the chocolates and drinks you brought for the boys each week. Without a good manager, things do not run as well on match day. So a huge thank you goes out to Mel Cawley, who organised everything, made sure things ran smoothly and entered the scores for us each week. Thanks Mel. Lastly, I would like to thank the parents. You came along every week to support the boys with enthusiasm whether we won or lost. This support is key to teaching the boys how to be good sports and to keep on trying, regardless of how well or how poorly they do on any given day. Dave Rafferty, Coach ST PATRICK S 14A St Patricks 14A s where a great team to coach and a group of well-balanced players. Under 14 s is a tough age group, the players have plenty going on in their day to day life and then they have the added pressure of having to play at the top of their potential every weekend. The team always supported each other and this was evident by the never ending team chatter during overs and the celebrations after the fall of a wicket. The competition was very tough and the players had to play well to earn our victories, they always fought to the end when defeat appeared ominous and they never gave up. The Team finished equal third in the competition which was a great result considering they had five first year players and a couple who hadn t played A before. Every player contributed throughout the season and will be better for learning different techniques from their peers and tactics from the coaches and parents that assisted throughout the season. The team was led by Angus Clarke who captained the team well and was assisted by Kobi Marcellino, both these players contributed immensely with bat and ball whilst Kobi had to keep wickets for most of the 22

season. Without their constant working together (Angus and Kobi) the team wouldn t have achieved the results they did. Zac Hart, Mitchell Hewitt, MJ White and Sam Mood were the opening bowling attack; they always seemed to get the early break throughs and bowled extremely well to their field. They never let the team down striving to achieve results in all conditions. The stats don t always tell the real story and sometimes the bowlers never really had luck on their side. The bowlers also showed they can bat with each of them contributing significantly in one game or another. Tim Fong, Mitchell Kensitt and Max McHenry shared the tough job of having to open the innings which can be a thankless task and one where you need an ounce of luck. These players displayed plenty of courage and team work where rewards are not always forthcoming. Mitchell bowled good off spring and took vital wickets, Tim bowled his attacking style to perfection when needed and Max bowled and kept wicket with great skill when needed. Harry Hewitt, Shaun O Brien and Ethan Hart were our solid all-rounders who could do anything on their day; take wickets, score runs, bowl at just one batsman, talk it up in the field and keep wickets. Teams need players that give up their own personal achievements for the better of the team and that s what these young players did. They did all however achieve great results with the bat in sometimes trying circumstances. I d like to thank Stuart, Matt, Clement, Rod and Steve, for completing vital roles week in week out and all the parents of the players who made sure they attended practice and were on time for the games. To the committee of St Patricks Cricket Club, without your continued support we wouldn t be able to field a competitive team every week and I thank you for the personal time you give up for the club and the players. Marty ST PATRICKS 14C Back Row (L-R): Chris Giles(c), Jamaine Melchior, Callum Fisher, Jordan Willis, Harry Cook, Hamish Thomas, Tom Mulligan(v-c), Dave Mulligan(coach). Front Row (L-R): Cameron Wilson, Zac Long, James Gair, Josh McGrath, Jacob Merchant, Chris Meyer. 23

With 12 of the 13 players having their 1 st year in U/14s, the team excelled expectations by recording 2 outright wins, 7 first innings victories and one defeat. They then went on to record a Grand Final win in a hard fought match, where their patience, determination and sheer hard work got them home. Let s have a look at each of these fine, young players (in no particular order): Jacob Merchant - Our dependable opener, who blunted many an attack with his solid defence and vast array of strokes. Along with Jamaine Melchior, he formed a reliable opening duo, not dissimilar to that of Rogers & Warner. His stats are misleading and give the impression that he under-performed when, in fact, the opposite is the case. Many a time he would lay a solid foundation for his batting teammates to build upon the rock that he had co-made. His bowling was an added bonus as he was always accurate and opposition batters had trouble coping with his nagging line and length. Excellent work, mate! Jamaine Melchior - An ultra-talented cricketer possessed of powerful blows to all parts of the field when batting and an imposing presence at the bowling crease. His effort in Round 1 when he took 6/6 off 7 overs (5 maidens) was instrumental in the team's victory over a determined Engadine. This was matched in Round 3 by a blistering 54 not out against the ever-dangerous DLS side. However, Jamaine needs to learn how to become a team player, as well as respecting opposition players, his elders and the game itself. Only then will his journey on becoming the complete cricketer commence. James Gair - A gifted stroke maker, James is well worth watching as he delights everyone in attendance with his expertise with the willow. His batting effort in the Grand Final was invaluable as his contribution was vital in reaching the set target. His bowling is of such a high calibre that he can send down delivery after delivery for next-to-no-cost and pick up valuable wickets along the way. Oh, and he can catch balls that normal human beings can't. Blessed with an affable nature, James has been an absolute joy to have had in the 14Cs this season and is the worthy recipient of the coaches award. Chris Giles - The veteran of the side, this being his 7th season with St Pats and arguably his best. Before the Xmas break, he had an enviable batting average of 172. Several of his high scoring innings were made when the team was in deep strife, particularly in the Grand Final. His maturity and previous A grade experience, along with being respected by all members of the team, made it a no-brainer for the coach to name him captain for the last 3 rounds and the Grand Final. Also a fine bowler and fieldsman, Chris can look back on 2014/15 with immense pride and satisfaction. Well done, Skipper! Cameron Wilson - When Cam gets it right, he can be a destructive force on the cricket field, either with bat or ball. He won't hang around too long to have a look at what the ball is doing. Instead, he'll thump it through the onside for another resounding boundary. For mine, his best innings was against DLS in Round 8, when he struck the ball to all parts of the field in a well measured innings when the team was floundering at 5/39. With the ball, he could run hot or cold, but he dismissed the imposing Josh Brennan in Round 8 with a devilish delivery that all but sealed the outright win for his team. Harry Cook - The irrepressible one! An extremely likeable young man in possession of a cheeky nature. Whether it was hiding a stump behind his back from the coach or stuffing James Gair into the team's kit, Harry's pranks were always good natured and his warm handshake at the end of every training session and match was always genuine. The keeping duties he unselfishly shared with Chris Meyer and proved to be a reliable custodian behind the stumps. When not keeping, he took several top notch close-in catches that helped lift the spirits of his teammates. His batting came of age too. Cheers, Harry! Chris Meyer - What is it with wicketkeepers? They seem to have this indomitable spirit where nothing seems to faze them. A good thing to have, I guess, considering the thankless job they have to do. Chris once again proved to be a force behind the stumps taking 7 dismissals (including the Grand Final) and making sure the byes were kept to an absolute minimum. Apart from his two innings against Illawong Menai, his batting never really got underway but we all know that, on his day, Chris can bat the house down. As always, mate, an absolute please to coach you again. Callum Fisher - Cowboy! A nickname earned from the way he wears his floppy hat. And yes, on occasions, much to the coach's displeasure, he would bat like a cowboy. But when he's in the zone...look out. His most searing piece of batting came in the round 4 game against Bosco, when, with the team in trouble, he came out and blasted an invaluable 21 to steer the ship to calmer waters. His catch in round 8 is still being talked about in supermarket aisles and his throw from the Woolooware boundary to effect a crucial run-out was equally impressive. And, to top it all off, he hit the winning runs in the Grand Final! 24

Hamish Thomas - Undoubtedly the most popular player with the spectating parents, Hamish has a smile as wide as the Sydney Harbour Bridge. His spinning ability with the ball was brought into sharp focus in Round 8 against DLS when he grabbed 3 wickets in 4 balls, narrowly missing out on the coveted hat-trick. Still, a triple wicket maiden is quite something to boast about! A total of 10 wickets for the season was thoroughly deserved. With the bat, he played a memorable innings of 23 against Caringbah at Woolooware. It's been a pleasure, Hamish, and I look forward to reading of your exploits in the U/16s Zac Long - Every team has their quiet one. With us, it's Zac. He'd be perfect for a TV reality show where, to avoid being "sent home", you d fly under the radar. However, once he gets out in the middle, you need a stick of dynamite to remove him from the batting crease. His most telling occupation came in the game against Engadine when he batted for a mammoth 90 balls while accumulating 21 runs. With the ball, he was always handy and his dismissal of St John Bosco s top scorer in the Grand Final was crucial to the outcome of the game. Zac also proved to be a most reliable fielder in the gully. Jordan Willis - The team's enforcer. The main man with the ball. He's tall, he's fast, he's dangerous! Jordan, on his day, is unplayable and lethal. You don't want to be out there in the middle facing him. In fact, our guys don't particularly like facing him in the nets. No higher praise can I afford him than that! Also a former swashbuckling tail-end batsman, Jordan has now become a more orthodox batter as his measured 34 against Bosco in Round 9 amply illustrated. This has been a coming-of-age season for him and his selection in the U/13 Presidents Rep team was indeed well warranted. Josh McGrath - I love the look of determination on his face whenever Josh takes the field. You just know that he's always going to give a 100% effort. His catch of Josh Brennan on the Woolooware boundary was special, considering that the ball before he had dropped a similar catch from the same batter and sustained an injury. His effort when standing in for an injured Jordan as opening bowler was superb and resulted in figures of 3/3 from 7 overs (4 maidens). With the bat, his opening dig of 38 against Illawong Menai remains strong in the memory. Congrats, Josh, on a fine season. Tom Mulligan - Another player who, I believe, came of age as a cricketer, finally confident in his ability to play with and against players of a high standard. This season, Tom decided to bowl spin full time and was rewarded handsomely with 21 wickets (including the Grand Final where he took 4/5) & was extremely effective with his spin twin, Hamish Thomas. With the bat, Tom worked hard every time he paid a visit to the middle and impressed all and sundry with his cover drives and leg glances. His was a reliable and knowledgeable vice-captain and his enthusiasm for the game of cricket continues to grow. COACHES AWARD: JAMES GAIR 25

ST PATRICK S 14D What more can I say about this wonderful cricket team..? *Minor premiers *Premieres *2 outright victories during the year When this side was brought together there were some fears about combining such a diverse range of experience and abilities, not to mention that half the team were girls! These fears could not have proved to have been further from the truth. Not only did the team bond so well together, every single player contributed throughout the season in every match. This can be seen in the statistics where all 12 players have each taken more than 5 wickets for the season. The camaraderie between the team members on and off the field was evident every week there was never a harsh word spoken to each other, encouragement was the order of the day. There were about half a dozen season highlights for me 1. Sam Robinson s century against Bosco 2. Zoe Benjamin taking 4 catches against Como 3. Our 2 wins against Bosco, Round 1, scoring 314 runs, Round 2, an outright victory - despite only scoring 91 runs we dismissed them for 23 & 69 runs with Theresa taking 4/2 4. Our win against Engadine in the final round where we bowled them out for And of course, our win in the final against Engadine After 25 overs we had them 3/53 and we were 3/84. From there we bowled them out for 125 and proceeded to successfully chase the runs, winning the match with 10 overs to spare. Sam Robinson was brilliant in this match, closely followed by Zoe Benjamin, Claudia Parry and Blake Hurford. 26

Sam came away with stats of 34 n.o with the bat, bowling figures of 3 for 7 off 5.5 overs and 2 catches behind the stumps. Zoe s leadership and captaincy came to the fore, overruling the coach to bring Sam on at just the right time to finish off the innings. Zoe also scored a very patient 18 runs in partnership with Sam to guide the team from 3/60 to 3/121. Blake and Claudia bowled tight and fast, with Blake taking 2/16 and Claudia bowling 7 overs, 4 maidens, 1/3 For me, however, the way in which the whole team enjoyed their cricket this season was the biggest thrill of all. I could not have asked for a better group of kids. They were an absolute pleasure to coach. I would like to say thank you to all the parents for their support and help throughout the season, and a very special thanks to Pete Robinson, our manager extraordinaire, who kept everything moving along smoothly with the team and also scored just about every weekend as well. Sid Benjamin, Coach Under 14 D s Robbie Benjamin (The Pineapple) - Robbie was the real enigma of the team. One week he would come out and score a 50 with a blazing bat, crunching the ball over midwicket regularly the next he would be out meekly caught at cover. He switched from pace to spin through the season which brought great results. Robbie has a fine action and gets great turn. With more practice he will be a very difficult bowler to face. Robbie pulled off the catch of the year, pulling in a one handed catch from in front of the umpires eyes. Zoe Benjamin (Dizzy) Our Captain - Zoe lead from the front just about every game. Her tactical cricket brain was on show most weeks, with her field placements and bowling changes always bringing results. Zoe s batting improved this season, not only scoring consistently but also batting very well with the tail. Zoe was also the quickest, and for the opposition the scariest bowler to face. Quite often the opposition batters would be trying to stay off strike against her. Even some of her own team mates tried to avoid facing her in the nets! Zoe also has the distinction of being the first 14D St Pats player to make a 1 st Grade debut in the same season, playing for Universities in the Sydney women s grade competition!!!! Jai Chapman - This was Jai s first season of cricket but you would not have known it. He is a very talented off spinner and from his first ball in the nets I knew he would take plenty of wickets. Jai possesses a very sound batting technique and he was able to score a very impressive 11n.o when his side really needed him too. In the final round match Jai batted very well with Zoe, batting for a long period of time to guide us out of trouble. The more the season progressed, the better Jai became. With another full season under his belt his improvement will be something to watch. Tanner Curtis (M.C Tanner its Tanner Time!) - Another of our less experienced players, but definitely one of our most enthusiastic, Tanner could be heard all day encouraging our fielders and bowlers. Tanner loved to open the batting, but managed to find a bizarre way to get out most weeks from ducking a thigh high full toss and getting bowled, to wandering out of his crease and getting stumped! Tanner s bowling came as a real surprise, especially later on in the season and he finished with an impressive 6 wickets for 74 runs. I hope Tanner continues with his cricket because his enthusiasm for the game was infectious for the whole team. Blake Hurford (Blakey) - This year was a breakout year for Blake. He scored 149 runs at an average of 21.29, including his highest ever score of 39. Despite not having a classical fast bowlers action, he bowled consistently fast and hostile spells with the new ball taking 13 wickets for the year at an average of 9.54 Blake is also a pleasure to coach, always smiling and happy to be playing. 27

Jemimah Keelan (Jemimimah) - This was Jemimah s first year with the club and what a year she had. With the bat, Jemimah contributed some great cameo innings against Gymea and Engadine scoring 14 and 9 n.o It was with the ball that she shined bowling very accurate spells that would always produce wickets. 10 wickets at an average of 4.6 was testament to her probing line and length bowling. Jemimah has a very bright future in cricket and I hope she will continue to improve and enjoy her cricket in the years to come. Liam New - What an absolutely wonderful young man Liam is. Liam put a huge effort into everything he did and worked very hard on his game. His efforts were rewarded with 6 wickets for the season at an average of 10.6 Although his batting let him down at times, his fielding more than made up for that. Liam was always ready to go and always appreciative of every opportunity he got. Good luck in the 16 s next year Liam. Claudia Parry (Santa) - This was Claudia s first season in the boys comp, and only her second season of playing cricket. Her batting and bowling came along in leaps and bounds this season, scoring over 200 runs and taking 10 wickets. Claudia possesses the best front foot shots of anyone in the team, with her cover drive particularly lethal. Although Claudia s bowling can sometimes be inconsistent, towards the latter half of the season it was definitely getting better and better. In the final, Claudia s spell of bowling - 7 overs, 4 maidens, 1/3 turned the game back our way just as the opposition was clawing their way back into the game. The only piece of advice I have for Claudia keep smiling and enjoy the game! Don t let the bad ball/shot get to you! Sam Robinson (Happy Feet) - Sam had an absolutely stellar season. Her stats are an incredible 435 runs at an average 62.4, 21 wickets at an average of 6.70, 11 catches, 6 wicket keeper catches and 3 stumpings. Sam can do it all, and she did! Sam scored the clubs only century this season and her dominance over all the opposition teams was incredible. It was impossible to keep Sam out of the game if she didn t score runs, she would take wickets or grab a catch or a stumping. Sam has a fantastic pair of hands and I do not remember her dropping a catch at all this season. One of her favourite dismissals for the season was a caught & bowled. I can t wait to see Sam develop her cricket even further next season. Aidan Selcraig - Aidan doesn t like to bat, or so I was told at the beginning of the season, but he showed time and again that when he had to be, he was more than capable of scoring runs or sticking around. He scored 25 runs at an average of 8.3, including his highest ever score of 11. Aidan s fielding was fantastic, whether behind the stumps or in the outfield barely a ball went past him. His bowling is very underrated. It is surprisingly quick, especially off the 5 pace run up he can use which was effective early in the morning on wet, slippery pitches. Aiden is another young man who is a pleasure to coach, taking in advice and putting it to good use whenever possible. Theresa Wilde - Another breakthrough year, Theresa scored 170 runs this season including a top score of 37. Theresa took on the difficult task of opening the batting and did so with plenty of class! Theresa also took on the role of keeper in the first part of the innings, usually having to keep to our fastest bowlers. Theresa is a fine spin bowler with a high dipping delivery which most batters found very hard to put away. Her highlight with the ball was against Bosco, taking 4/2 Theresa has played plenty of girls cricket with St Pats. I hope that she will continue to play boys cricket as well, as she is a huge asset to any team. 28

Matilda Woods - Although Matilda had a bad injury to her back which restricted her in some games, her bowling was a revelation. Her high looping delivery was not only very accurate, but also very tempting to the opposition batters. This saw her take 11 wickets this season including a best of 3/7 against Bosco. Matilda also opened the batting a few times and scored her highest score of 20 in this position. Matilda improved every time she took to the field and was a valuable contributor with both bat and ball. Matilda is another team member who was a pleasure to coach, absorbing all that was shown to her and then putting it to good use. Special thanks to Josh and Lily Witts who both played in our first 2 matches, filling in for us when we had players out, with Josh taking 2 wickets. ST PATRICK'S 16A Runners Up The question posed at the start of the year, for the majority of these young men, is how would they back up from winning the 14A premiership last season. With 9 out of the 12 making the leap from 14's to 16's we were always going to be playing against teams that were physically bigger than us. We were being written off as contenders by some opponents and being told we would not win a game. How wrong could they be! In trademark style of the successful 14A team of the year before, we won our first game by the narrowest of margins - 1 run. From there it was a rollercoaster ride of stunning success and depressing losses which brought us to the final round of the year. Needing a win along with the results of other matches to go our way, we were still a chance of making the final. A strong performance in our game left no doubt of us being worthy of a finals appearance. Fortunately the cricketing gods were smiling on us, and the necessary result fell our way, so we would face an undefeated Engadine side in the final. In the two games between the finalists, during the season, Engadine had come out on top in both games. in round 2 we had chased a big score only to come up 30 runs short but in doing so had made the only 200+ score against them all season. In round 9 we had the opposite experience of scoring the lowest total against them all season. The final was played in perfect conditions for batting and Engadine won the toss and batted. St. Pat's bowled to their game plan and kept Engadine struggling for runs early with some tight ground fielding and controlled bowling. The only down side was a couple of sharp catches being put down as Engadine slowly built their innings. Jesse Newton took the bowling honours with 3/20 off nine overs. Cameron Creighton, Elliott Brookes, Joshua Perritt and Elliot Hutt each took wickets and Luke Gay added a run out as we restricted them to 8/174 off their 60 overs. Our batting need to be at it's best as this was an achievable score, even in a final. Unfortunately for us, one of their bowlers had an "on day" and we were left struggling at 5/20 before we could catch our breath. Brady Morrison (19) and Luke Gay (22n.o.) started the recovery and Sahil Sekhon (13) and Mackenzie Holmes (18) ensured we at least reached triple figures. Elliott Brookes: Led the team with some commanding innings with bat in hand and Captained the side well, putting the coaches plans into action on the field. Elliott could always be relied on to make a necessary change without prompting from the sideline. Unlucky not to make a century this year as a couple of opportunities were sacrificed in the chase for a victory. A great all round game reflected in the stats for the year. Cameron Creighton: A solid first year in 16A's with a number of starts when batting which could have led to that elusive half century. Bowled with good purpose and control but the catches always seemed to fall in the gaps. Luke Gay: Luke floated around in the batting order this year and had to adapt his game to suit the situation. Saved his best for the premiers with some late order hitting in round 4 and a solid 22n.o. in the final. Always a safe pair of hands in the gully or thereabouts. His leggies will be needed more next season too. Fletcher Graham: Fletcher is always prepared to do whatever the coach asks of him. Batted in all positions this year with his best being 45 opening the batting in round 6. Added another 3 run outs to his growing tally this year (when will they learn!) and his off spin will get more work next season as well. 29

Liam Hehir: Bowled with great pace and carry all year and, at his best, was extremely difficult to score from. Liam has a good future in cricket and will benefit from the hard work he put in this season. Surprised everyone (including himself I think) with his maiden half century with the bat. Mackenzie Holmes: Started the season slowly and then had some injury issues, but started to make his presence felt by round 7. His late season form suggests a great year is in store for next season. As our regular keeper he formed a good combination with Sahil to get 5 stumpings throughout the year. A great innings in the final - cruelly cut short. Elliot Hutt: Another player who bowled with great control without being rewarded. When a third of your overs are maidens it usually means, if the wickets are not falling for you, the pressure is turning into wickets at the other end. Gained a yard of pace late in the season and this should point to better rewards next year. Brady Morrison: Did the hard yards as one of our regular openers for most of the season and then struck some form late in the season. A half century in the last round as well as some great work in the final means he is yet another player primed for a big season next year. A big improver in the field this year too, with catches and run outs coming his way. Jesse Newton: A solid all round performance this year with bat and ball. His medium pace swing bowling gives variety to our attack and was often used to slow the run rate and provide pressure from the opposite end to our spinners. Finally got a half century in round ten after going close earlier in the year. As stated earlier, he was the pick of the bowlers in the final. Joshua Perritt: A new member of the St. Pat's family, Josh came to us as a bit of an unknown quantity. Picked initially for his net form with the ball, it ended up being with bat in hand that he excelled on the field. An early season half century and a preparedness to open the batting means he will get more opportunities to show us what he can do next season. We expect a few more wickets to flow too. Another danger man in the field. Sahil Sekhon: Sahil had a great final season in juniors as our leading wicket taker. Bowling his very accurate leg spin, he took 19 wickets for the season at less than 12 runs each. Along the way he chipped in with the bat, making a few scores in the 20's at a good strike rate. Riley Wall: Bowled with good pace throughout the season. Had a great game in round 5, taking 4/7 in an aggressive spell, which included one of the premier batsmen of the competition. Limited opportunities with the bat but made the most of them. On a personal note I would like to thank Dan for asking me to be a part of this last year. It has been a pleasure to watch these young men go about playing their cricket for the last 2 seasons. Always one for an interesting statistic, I have noted that there are 8 of 12 (9 if you include the final) players who achieved 100 runs or more for the season. This speaks volumes, not only about the breadth of talent within this side but also, about the commitment of the coaches to provide opportunities for all the players. My thanks to Dan and Todd for doing such a great job off the field and Elliott for his on-field leadership. I'm sure the team appreciate the time and effort you put in to getting them on the field every weekend and playing cricket that is in the very best traditions of St. Patrick's Cricket Club. It has me keen to come back next season and do it all again. Adam Young ST PATRICK S 16B The under 16B s had a mixed bag of results this year. We had 4 hard wins and a couple of close losses. There were 4 games that slipped away from the team, when an extra 15 runs or taking 1 more wicket could have seen the team make the final. The team had a mix of first and second year 16 s but in the end were just short of experience. As a majority of the players will be available for next season the ground work has been set for a successful season in 15/16. Jake Briggs.is a fantastic team player who will improve greatly with this years experience. Jake had a great season scoring 64 runs, but was more comfortable bowling, taking 16 wickets at an average of 12 runs per wicket. Jake was always in the game and will be a key member in next year s team. Well done. 30

Jack Dawson is a very enthusiastic player who likes to be in everything. Jack had a mixed season with the bat and ball not always getting the rewards he deserved. Playing as an all-rounder Jack didn t always get the opportunities to bat for long innings but made the most of his time in the middle. Luke McGrath Led by example with the other boys following him through the season. As joint captain during the season Luke always showed his leadership capabilities on the field. Luke had a great season with the bat and ball with the experience of playing in the men s comp being passed to the first year players. Jacob Duff In the end became our opening batsman who topped the run count for the season with 224 runs. Solid as a rock, Jacob demonstrates great patience and shows respect to the bowler. He knows how to pick off the loose deliveries & smack them to the boundary. As a bowler Jacob took 12 handy wickets and was a valuable member of the team. Luke Andreatta Luke is a very intense player, he thinks about every part of the game. As a joint captain Luke lead by example, sometimes to the detriment of his own game as he concentrated on others performances. Once Luke relaxes he is almost unplayable as a bowler and as a batter Tim scored 106 runs to play a large part of the teams victories Timmy Pickett Timmy is a very competitive cricketer, however his laid back style can be deceiving. Timmy didn t get the recognition he deserved as a bowler, often being asked to bowl his offies when the over rate was too slow, didn t give him time to pressure batters. Timmy s batting improved during the season culminating in a reverse sweep off a surprised Gymea fast bowler Grant Pfundstein had an interrupted season suffering a number of injuries that kept him out for 5 rounds. When Grant was available he would terrorise batters with his accurate bowling and was a very determined batsman. Grants experience will be missed next year. Cameron Russo - Cameron is a very competitive player who always gives is best. Cameron started the year as a change bowler, however a great efficiency rate and the taking of crucial wickets saw him escalated to the opening role, eventually taking 13 wickets for the season. Cameron continued to improve as a batter and set the stage for some solid team totals. Harley Russo Harley really hit his straps as a bowler this year. A small change in his run-up had Harley bowling fast swinging balls which at time were unplayable. Harley took 15 wickets at 13.8 against very good top order batters and at a vital stages would knock over the middle stump of a batsman to completely dishearten the opposition. Ethan Sheils Ethan displayed his potential throughout the season at training and in the games. He showed character and brought a funny side to the team, which increased the team s morale. Ethan s catches in the outfield and a direct hit from the boundary for a run-out were inspirational. When Ethan sets his mind to do something he will achieve it and he will take this attitude into men s cricket next year. Caleb Shepherd Caleb is an extremely accurate bowler and he was used often to help reduce the opposition s scoring rate. He took 7 wickets at an average of 19. But more importantly his consistent line and length frustrated the batsman. Unfortunately for the team Caleb was not available for the second half of the season through injury and was sorely missed. Nicholas Wilde Nick had his best year to date. As a fulltime wicket keeper Nick took 19 dismissals behind the stumps and contributed 180 runs as a middle order batter. Nick s positive approach to the development of his game has lead him to a great year. Well done. Thanks to Janelle and Clive for scoring this year it is always good to know that someone is available and I don t have to hunt someone at the last minute. Thanks to all the parents for assisting this year. It is not easy having players at different locations however it was good to have help at stages during the season. Thanks everyone for a great season and the best of luck next year. Les Wilde - Coach. 31

! Junior Report ST PATRICK S 16C The 16Cs had a good season, even if we won only 1 match. A number of our results were close and could easily have gone our way. The guys played competitively all season. Jaimyn Alchin-Howell - Following on from his previous late season form, Jaimyn impressed with his fast bowling. He was a reliable and scary opening bowler, taking a number of quality wickets. Simon De Feyter - Once again Simon has proved to be a mainstay of the side, dangerous with both bat and ball. He is a versatile player who can be used in different ways at different times in an innings. He is also showed what a great fielder he is. 32

Mitchell Hayson - Mitchell again excelled, in this only his second season of cricket. Despite an injury that meant he couldn t play in the early part of the season, Mitch smashed a quick fire 46 and showed he can really handle a bat. He is also solid behind the stumps. Brayden Jackson - This season Brayden was a dependable rock with both bat and ball. When we needed wickets he would take them, and when we needed runs or someone to stay in he would willingly oblige. Ben James - Ben was our main wicket keeper and did a great job behind the stumps. He is also a very capable middle order batsman who can score quickly if required. Ethan Jegers - We discovered this year that Ethan is a solid upper order batsman who can see off the fast bowling with sound defence. He played a brilliant innings of 26 against the competition front runners. Zane Jegers - It appears Zane only knows only one way to bat smash the ball with as much power as possible. Fortunately he is strongly built and has a great eye. He can also bowl with quite some zip. Zack Kirkwood - As our only leftie Zack provided some trouble for opposition bowlers, especially with his good technique and aggressive stroke play. Zack is also a reliable fielder who spurs on his team. Douglas McAdam - Dougie is our secret bowling weapon and duped quite a number of batsmen with his tricky spinners. He excels bowling both leggies and offies. He also made some good cameos with the bat. Nathan Parnell - Nathan is a dangerous leg spinner who again troubled batsmen with flight and guile, and with good variations. He added a significant element to our bowling attack. Alex Priestley - As in previous seasons Alex opened the bowling and was highly economical. He also got the team off to good starts with the bat with his somewhat unorthodox batting technique. Alex took a cracker slips catch. Jayden Raval - Jayden came to the team late in the season and was instantly a standout with the bat, solid in defence and strong in attack. He is also dangerous and economical with the ball, and a strong fielder. Zac Ryan - Zac showed us just what a menacing pace bowler he is. We could see the batsmen not knowing what to do after facing Zac s first few deliveries. A great attacking weapon. Philip Thompson - We took a punt by asking Phil to open the batting. What a result we got, with Phil demonstrating all the requirements of a good opening bat. He is fearless and solid. 33

ST PAT S GIRLS PINK TEAM The team had a mixed season of wins and losses. Most pleasing though was the girls positive attitudes in the field and how they kept encouraging each other. Every girl contributed in each game and their skills continue to improve. I hope to see all the girls back next year in mighty St Pat s colours. Hannah Goerges Hannah s first season in cricket was fantastic. Her bowling was good with Hannah taking wickets regularly. Her wicket keeping improved with every game. Hannan s improvement will continue if she keeps on believing in herself. The highlight of the year was her 6 against Mortdale! Sarah Hepinstall Little Sarah was great with bat and ball. A little pocket rocket who continues to improve with each game, Sarah regularly took wickets with the ball. She was pleasure a coach and always positive in the field. Emily Lawler Emily s bowling was fantastic this season with Emily regularly taking wickets early on in the innings. Her batting kept improving as the season went on which can attributed her hard work at training. Her captaincy skills continue to grow will improve with confidence and I hope she continues to look for opportunities to be a leader on the field. Sarah Lawler This was Sarah s first season in cricket and boy did she make an impact. Lots of wickets and some good fielding saw her contribute in every game played. I hope Sarah continues to enjoy her cricket and plays on again next year. Lisa Towrie Lisa was excellent as one of our opening batters and continually scored runs when needed. Lisa s bowling continues to improve with each game and her fielding was safe and reliable. I hope Lisa looks for more opportunities to be a leader on the field. Caitlyn Stoffels Katie was one of our reliable team members who always contributed with bat and ball. Her big hitting often saw fours and even a six and she regularly took wickets and catches when fielding. Zara Vandermaal Tippy toes is the next great all-rounder for St Pats. Zara regularly scored runs, took wickets and fielded well. Zara s batting was outstanding with Zara playing some of the best cover drives seen this year. I hope she continues to focus on her batting which is a real strength. 34

Taylah Withers T-swizzel was our most consistent player this year taking the most wickets and scoring the most runs of anyone in the side. Taylor is feared opening bowler which showed with her regularly taking wickets early on. Lily Witts Cherry was our other fantastic opening batsman who regularly got us off to great starts with her enthuastic running between wickets. Lily did well when called upon to do wicket keeping and was always positive in the field, often bringing a sense of fun to the game. 35

ST PATRICK S B3 Another year down and an enjoyable one had by all the boys. Although we didn't make the finals I thought that the team did make progress forward from previous seasons. This was the third year running this team has finished 4th and missed the finals by a win or less. Finishing with 7 wins and 5 losses and missing the finals was a stab in the back to the guys who busted their backsides out there week in week out, but a lot can be taken out of this season. The killer blow was in round 12 against Illawong with our season on the line, we were chasing a score of 165 and fell 12 runs short after being in a good position to win. If a couple of regulation chances in the field on this day were taken we would have been chasing much less than the 165. In summary that was our season right there. Catches win matches simple as that. At times we looked the best side in the competition and other times we looked close to the worst. There's no doubt in my mind this team on their day was the best in the competition it was just execution and commitment that let us down. Injuries were also a problem throughout this season as was getting a stable 11 to turn up on time. I don't think anyone in this team can look at their statistics and say they have had a really good year. Although we played well as a team for the majority of the season no one really stood up individually which was disappointing but that's something that can be worked on. I'd like to thank everyone that played this season and helped out it was a great year with some controversy along the way although we didn't get to where we wanted too in the end we all know that if we had of made the finals what would have happened! Thanks again everyone

Senior Report ST PATRICK S B7/1 Premiers!!!!! Well where do we start to sum the season up in a few words great areas was the key to success. At the beginning of the year I wasn t sure what to expect as the side had players coming up after finishing juniors, a few boys having played men s together and one member who rocked up with his kit from the under 10 s (who knows who he is). After a positive start with a victory in the first match the following week we were given a reality check narrowly avoiding outright thanks to a star studded performance from Kurt Rumsey of 119 (as it was second innings it s fair to say it isn t counted); as season progressed we started to warm to the task and found ourselves on a bit of a winning streak; and the most encouraging part came from the fact it was different contributors each week. Heading into the Christmas break we found ourselves on top of the table to our surprise; after a tough month during January where numbers was an issue we were just hanging on onto top spot thanks to a near impossible second last ball win. Special mention to Chris Newell with his 75 n.o that day. As we went into the last game we needed a win to ensure ourselves going straight through to the Grand final; and despite the weather not been on our side we managed to just squeeze in a result. So to the big dance it was. After happily losing the toss we were sent out to bowl and we felt pretty confident having knocked them over earlier in the season. After a steady start from the openers keeping it tight; we brought on rocks and diamonds Bryant and to everyone s pleasure he had struck diamonds after taking a shooper catch to dismiss the opener he finished with 4-11 off his 8 overs; however still couldn t manage a 5 wicket haul all season. The rest of the boys chimed in with wickets here and there including tailender specialist Oscar who as usual took a cheap wicket. We dismissed them for 72 setting ourselves 73 to win. Going out to bat we knew time was on our side and just had to bat for as long as possible. After losing Pat and Ben early we still had our mainstay Krums in there and to his credit he batted out the innings till the final ball finishing up with 70 however can be 37

Senior Report thankful he had such a great batting partner with him. Our innings was eventually declared at after 49 overs giving us the victory. Would just like to thank all the boys for playing this season there is not a better bunch of boys out there I would want to play cricket with; and like myself I think everyone really enjoyed the season. The most pleasing part was the fact each week there was different contributors with bat and ball and even in the field whether it was the Pink with 4 wickets somehow; Pat or Krums with the bat or Nath with 2 catches everyone played a vital role. Also a thanks to Warren from the club helping us with the kit and any other issues throughout the season; well I hope to see all the boys back next season for bigger and better things. Player Profiles: The Skipper: Word s cannot describe his ability to change a game with his array of skills. Was believed to have feet like hands in the field which led to moments of brilliance. His captaincy was second to none despite attempts of mutinies throughout the season. Cameron Hutchinson (VC) Mr Negative : Often seen whinging in the field over many things for no reason; acted as if he was captain. Was a valuable first change bowler who never leaked many runs and formed a great bowling partnership with Todd Bryant. Handy with the bat and can happily claim he has one of the best cut shots in Australia; believes he was robbed of a 100 with an atrocious LBW decision (which it was) however was still only in his mid 20 s at the time. Todd Bryant (VC) Rocks and Diamonds : Bowled alright throughout the season and somehow ended up top wicket-taker; however still managed to not jag a five wicket haul (can ask his brother about that). A solid contributor with the bat at times and helped us win on 1 or 2 occasions. In the field safe as houses and probably one of the best. Nathan Bryant Mr Cricket : Liken him to a box of chocolates in the field; although more than once delivered with some outstanding catches in the field which would result in some enthusiastic celebrations from others. From memory bowled one of the better overs of the season. Enjoyed batting lower in the order so he could fulfil more important commitments on a Saturday. Kurt Rumsey Krums Ball : Can claim he is the invented of the next big change-up delivery in world cricket known as the Krums ball which somehow to the batsman disgust claimed wickets more often than not. All in all he s a great team player willing to open the batting every week and hardly put a foot wrong; was eager in the field despite dropping a few sitters during the year and was a regular wicket taker. Despite been a one-hit wonder with bat a special mention to his 119 he scored although it was second innings and one boundary was roughly 25 metres he ll claim it. Christopher Newell Lasith : Had one of the better bowling techniques I d seen and at times boy did it pay off from memory one day he was swinging it aiming at second slip and was still missing leg stump. Like a lot of our team also played a couple of valuable innings throughout the season; in the field generally had a safe pair of hands although he ll be able to recall a sitter at point one day which had repercussions. Ben Douglas Mr Reliable : The true spirit of the team Benny Doug was always willing to do whatever was asked of him with the bat and could come in at any position and do a job for us. He also was our regular keeper and did a great job of it all season rarely letting any byes slip past him even when Chris or Q-Ball were firing their rockets in. 38

Senior Report Pat Heptinstall Mr Reliable 2.0 : Didn t know what I was expecting to start the season after been told on numerous occasions he was a bowler more than a batsman; however I think that changed through the season as week in week out Patty was by far our most consistent batsman posting a solid start each week. Can feel robbed of a maiden 50 after been stranded 46n.o after carrying his bat due to some selfish by one individual. He also bowled some classic leggies that at times had the batsman bamboozled and picked up valuable wickets on occasions. Quintin Dwyer Q-Ball or Snail : Where do we start with the Q-Ball; the nickname was tossed around one day and from then on it just took off. Snail is reflective of his movements in the field despite having a rocket arm and great pair of hands often it takes several moments for Q-Ball to retrieve a ball in the field. With the ball in hand he was lethal firing in short balls that were need unplayable and then would clean them up with the full ball. He had one approach with the bat hit out or get out and once or twice it paid off for him; he was never afraid to back down and on one occasion a couple of comment put the opposition in their place. Jarrod Dwyer Statue : Jarrod himself probably doesn t know whether his a batsman or a bowler cause at different times during the season he displayed great ability with both. With the bat he played a couple of solid innings and on one occasion batted us to victory after finishing n.o; he also fell just short of maiden 50 as we survived an outright defeat. With the ball he came on at different times whether opening or for the middle overs and at times was near unplayable swinging the ball and calming a few wickets in the process. In the field was best known for his outstanding running style that gave us a laugh. May also need to work on his champagne popping a bit more throughout the winter as well. Oscar Pinkerton Pink : What can we say about the Pink became one of our go to men with the ball in hand and regularly would pick up wickets to everyone s surprise; special mention for his figures of 4 for 2 in 13 balls or something. In the field more than once would shy away from the ball; although did take a few catches through the season. With bat in hand the only thing you could is that he was consistent and finishing up with an average of roughly 2 for the season demonstrates that. Phil Astill Cosgrove : Pastill was an enjoyable member of the side to have after he joined a few weeks in and like his namesake a handy all-rounder. He loved giving a bit of lip out on the field all fun and games though. With bat and ball contributed on almost every occasion whether by jagging a few wickets and keeping it tight with the ball; or opening the batting and laying the platform for the team. In the field not much can be recalled of his efforts despite maybe 1 or 2 fumbles during the season. Josh Gardner The Joker : Josh was the head of the bowling attack it was fair to say and most weeks the new ball was chucked at him and more often than not he d take our valuable wicket for us. Not much can be recalled of Josh s batting throughout the year; you d have to ask him about the amount of runs he scored. However as the team were batting he was often heard yelling he s famous words SHOOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!!! out. Would just like to thanks the other few boys that played a few matches for us throughout the season and on more than one occasion got us a result when it wasn t likely. Regards, Andrew Hutchinson 39

Senior Report ST PATRICK S C1 So where do I start. The C1 s for St Pats started out as the C2 s only to be promoted due to our excellent playing style (it was either that or because they just renamed our comp the C1 s with the draw shuffles). We were another side of mostly newcomers or long time returners who were playing Cricket for the fun of it. I Left my side from last year when they went to the B6 s and decided to throw my hand up to skipper this lot. It was one of the most rewarding decisions I ve made in the year. Whilst we missed the semi s we did show what we could do at times and I m looking forward to leading these guys again in the season. In no particular order below are the guys who played for our illustrious side this year Damian Johnstone Why anyone decides to play cricket and jump straight into keeping is really beyond me but it did solve the always awkward who s going to keep for us conundrum. Damo really took to keeping like an emu to the air but to his credit by the end of the season it really was second nature. Damo was also a bit of a pinch hitter with a great eye and if he doesn t keep getting run out next year will be great to watch. Joe Silverwood Joe s one of the mainstays of the side and a very good taxi driver. He s batting was great in the season and his bowling really helped us out as well. Joe returned to cricket after a long absence and next season will be a real tour de force for the side. Tom Bunting When I first faced Tom in the nets it was clear I found my opening bowler. His inswing is lethal and quite frequently bends it like a banana. He is extremely economical and it great when you can throw a ball to someone and know what you re going to get from them. In addition He s also a great middle order player who steadied our ship on more than one occasion. Murray Selcraig Muz, our illustrious opener who much like Damo to keeping took to it like a fish takes to the desert. To his credit he stayed with it and became the reliable opener with Glenn that you need in the side. In addition his bowling is great and often came on after Tom and kept the pressure on superbly. Glenn Heyak Muz s opening partner and the only one apart from Steve an Myself who have played Men s cricket in the last 5 years Glenn was a welcome form of experience. As an ex captain himself it was great learning from him and getting his help in my first season in charge. He also has a demon of a fast ball if he can ever land it too. Steve Chang Another stalwart of St Pats Steve was more welcome experience in a rookie side. He found his niche as a perfect foil for Tom as our opening pair and one that I am looking forward to seeing develop in the seasons to come. David Richardson Dave was a relative latecomer but was a welcome addition to the team. His ability to stay at the crease was most welcome and his advice was just as much so. Also a big thanks to him for the late season recruiting which really helped out Seb Ungvary Seb s season turned around one day at training. After a batting session he remarked that he d Forgotten his run up. I don t know how you do that but I m so thankful he did. He new and improved run up turned Seb into one of our best bowlers in the season. He became as reliable a first change as anyone could hope for and I know that next season will be massive for our youngest full time player. Vince Ungvary Seb s dad and always up for a laugh. Vince was a great contributor with the ball this year. He s spin provided relief when our other spin option (me) was getting caned and my only regret for the season is that I didn t bowl him more. Next season that s one thing that will definitely change. Chris KaryKides I was always worried about Chris in the nets; mainly because the bowling continually went back over my head. Chris was a great number 3 in our side and when he fired I was glad I wasn t on the other team. His season was cut short by a couple of new arrivals to his family but I hope that he can come to an arrangement to get out with us next year. I d also like to thank our massive support crew of part timers for the year. Moana Taripo, Brady and Chris Morrison, Asanga Gunatilake, Starry Isadore, Si Jackson, Todd Cheadle, Jon Andrevski. Without your help the season wouldn t have been what it was so thank you very much. Thanks also to Warren for his guidance this year. We were a new side and your help was very much appreciated. 40

Senior Report As for me, well this year was brilliant. We played a brand of cricket that was about enjoying the company of your mates and playing tough but fair. Our competitors all loved playing against us and want to face us again next season (probably because they think we re easybeats. We ll show them). I loved skippering this side and if can stop backing away to leg maybe I can get some runs next year. Stay safe and have a great off season. See you next time we go around.
