1 Memorandum of Understanding CNSW and XXXXX High School This Memorandum of Understanding is made and entered into on between: 2016 by and 1. Cricket New South Wales, Driver Avenue Moore Park NSW 2021; and 2. XXXXX Sports High School (each a Party and together the Parties ). Recitals: 1. This Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) sets out the agreement between the Parties for collaboration on the establishment of a CNSW High Performance Cricket School (as defined below). 2. The intent and purpose of the MoU is to use the partnership between the Parties, as set out in this MoU, to ensure the seamless alignment of activities of the Cricket New South Wales High Performance Pathway and the Cricket NSW accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School, to further align the high performance pathway cricket within NSW. In consideration of the mutual promises and undertakings herein THE PARTIES AGREE as follows:- 1. Term of MOU 1.1 This MoU begins on the date of full execution of this MoU and concludes on XXXXXX (the Term ). 2. Criteria 2.1 The following criteria must be fulfilled to qualify as a CNSW High Performance Cricket School Participants a. Participants may be male or female b. Participants will be selected through talent identification and an appropriate selection trial c. Consideration, planning and implementation of male and female programs in coeducational schools d. In co-educational schools the male to female ration must me 3 Male: 1 Female within three years of the program being first accredited 1

2 2.1.2 Cricket Staff The following staff must be in place and hold the requisite Coaching/ Strength and Conditioning Accreditation Position Accreditation Level Program Director Cricket Australia Coaching Level 3 Senior Coaches Minimum Cricket Australia Coaching Level 2 Other/ Specialist Coaches Minimum Cricket Australia Coaching Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Level 2 ASCA Sport Psychologist/ Mental Skills Coach Physiotherapist a. All coaches must be trained and qualified in First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Coach to Player Ratio The Coach to Player ratio will be no more than 1 Coach: 8 Players for all skills sessions Facilities Each Accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School must have the following facilities as a minimum a. 3-4 Nets and oval / fielding spaces b. Best endeavor access to Turf nets c. Appropriate Male/ Female change rooms d. Meeting rooms with multi-media e. Fully equipped weights room with resistance and cardio equipment f. Access to Indoor facilities for winter/ wet weather g. Outdoor facilities must meet a standard to allow for improvement and development Program The CNSW High Performance Cricket School must be approved by CNSW High Performance staff and be seen to; a. Be aligned with Cricket NSW Academy b. Have the cricket philosophy and playing style clearly articulated c. Use a Cricket NSW approved Cricket program/athlete Management System for all recording of training d. Undertake specialist skills coaching e.g. Wicket keeping, Spin bowling e. Provide opportunity for one on one and small group coaching for athletes f. Undertake cricket specific strength, conditioning, flexibility and fitness g. Have a minimum of 40 training weeks planned in cycles / school terms h. Present to CNSW cricket performance report provided twice a year on a mutually agreed date Sports Science / Strength & Conditioning / Technology Within the program there must be; a. A Strength and Conditioning Coordinator minimum Level 2 ASC b. A relationship with Cricket NSW sports science departments to manage player welfare (e.g. agreed rehabilitation plans) 2

3 c. Individualised testing and tailored program for all athletes (e.g. peak velocity test) d. Ongoing and regular athlete wellness monitoring e. Individual annual player plans encompassing strengths and weaknesses, goal-setting and identified targets for improvement f. Physiological identification g. Best endeavours to partner withtertiary aligned academic institutions for research projects (eg. Cricket specific injury prevention and fitness testing) h. An online database to monitor athletes i. Video analysis of individual and team performance (e.g. Gamebreaker) Education and Welfare of Athletes The CNSW High Performance Cricket School must demonstrate a. An established record of high expectations and academic achievement b. All participants holders must maintain a C average definitely need to discuss these expectations and ensure accountability of students. c. A commitment to learning as an absolute focus d. Comprehensive welfare system which support the holistic development of the student athlete e. A rigorous application and selection process which is inclusive of academic performance f. An open and transparent Code of Conduct including consequences for breaches of the code g. Stringent attendance monitoring e.g. No Play / Train Policy (85% school attendance throughout the year) h. An integrated student welfare, academic and sporting database i. Individual player plans j. A cricket performance report aligned with Academic report k. Cricket specific parent information session groups with regular meetings l. Allocated welfare mentors to monitor all aspects of athletes school life m. Rigorous academic and welfare review process n. Best endeavours of after hours homework centre with qualified staff employed to assist students o. Flexible timetabling and academic pathways to enable elite athletes to continue education whilst fulfilling sporting commitments (e.g. HSC Pathways) p. Willingness to release players selected for national, state and BBL/WBBL commitments q. Online delivery of course curriculum to assist students to meet academic outcomes whilst away from school r. The presence of a School counselor and sport psychologist s. A Student Hardship and Scholarship Policy t. A Student Leadership Program Talent Identification The accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School must establish, with best endeavours; a. Promotional mechanisms to promote school as Cricket NSW Centre of Excellence e.g. local media, primary school newsletters, advertising in local media, past player endorsement b. Relationships with network of local cricket clubs and primary school sport through which to promote the program c. An open and transparent application and trial process encompassing academic and athletic performance 3

4 d. A feeder primary school program in operation Professional Learning The accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School must provide, for the full time coaching staff; a. A Professional Development Plan (including goals and future directions) b. Professional learning opportunities to develop skills and capabilities (including upgrading qualifications) c. Annual program and individual performance reviews d. A supportive environment that encourages and supports professional growth e. A staff mentor and leadership program f. Weekly Coaches meeting g. A willingness to partner with Cricket NSW to deliver coach education courses Governance The accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School must have; a. A management committee including the School Principal, Deputy Principal, Director of Sport and the Director of Cricket b. Clear management structure and position descriptions of all staff and contracted coaches c. Departmental Policy in place for Conflicts of Interest, Complaints, Child Protection and staff codes of conduct d. Parental and Player Code of Conduct e. An audit process established and monitored by Cricket NSW including accreditation renewal every 3-5 years f. Six monthly meeting with CNSW appointed cricket convenor to liase with Cricket NSW Partnerships The accredited CNSW High Performance Cricket School must establish, with best endeavours; a. Develop research partnerships with Universities b. Demonstrable Collaboration / partnerships with Cricket NSW, Big Bash League Clubs, Premier Clubs and District Associations. 3. Assessment, Evaluation and Review 3.1 The above criteria is required to be fulfilled, to the satisfaction of Cricket NSW for approval and accreditation as a Cricket NSW School Centre of Excellence 3.2 This criteria will be assessed by an approved Cricket NSW assessment team 3.3 Once an assessment has been made, no correspondence will be entered into 3.4 Once the MOU is signed, an evaluation and review will be completed each year on a date to be agreed between the two parties 3.5 Evaluation will include all the above criteria and any relevant information that can be determined by CNSW 4. 5 4.1 Cricket New South Wales will, in good faith and with best endeavours, provide a. Guidance in preparation of programs and planning b. Coaching support where available c. Staff to conduct coach accreditation d. Opportunities for agreed coach professional accreditation and development e. Links with the CNSW Sports Science, Sports Medicine (SSSM) team f. Media links through CNSW Communications Department network g. Support with the conducting of selected tournament h. Support with the selection and talent identification of athletes i. Assistance with any CNSW grant applications as required j. Publish details of school cricket trials AS WITNESS the hands of the duly authorised representatives of the Parties on the date first before written.
