Attachment 2 Chairman's Report May 2018 SKATE AUSTRALIA Inc COMMISSIONED ARTISTIC OFFICIALS COMMITTEE Chairman Patricia Wallace REPORT FROM CAOC CHAIRMAN TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE COMMISSION ARTISTIC OFFICIALS COMMITTEE 8 JULY 2018 PERTH I am pleased to provide this report to the 2018 AGM of the Commissioned Artistic Officials Committee (CAOC). I must apologise for not being able to attend the meeting personally and thank Chris Clough for agreeing to chair the meeting in my absence. Panel Chairmen currently are: - CAOC Chairman: Briony Beckett NSW Val Parkin Seona Martin Lisa Cottrell Hannah Knott Qld VIC WA SSA As you can see there has been a change in NSW. Thank you very much Vicki for all you did to recruit officials in NSW, you did a wonderful job and achieved some excellent results in a very short time and welcome Briony. I am sure you will be able to pick up the reins and continue the work that Vicki started and achieve great things in NSW where there are so many talented young judges. Chief Examiners Chief examiners were elected in 2017 for a 2-year term. Lyn Cole and Jodie Nelson are successfully sharing the referees position with Jodie doing the administration from her home base in Switzerland and Lyn doing the practical training here in Australia Calculating Chris Clough Dance & Freedance Karen Aronis Figures Jim Beard Freeskating & Pairs Seona Martn Precision Jim Beard Referees Jodie Nelson/Lyn Cole Seona Martin took on the Training co-ordinator position at the 2017 AGM. Training in 2017/2018 has almost exclusively involved the introduction of the Rollart concept. Seona did follow up on online learning courses. It seems that the set up costs, but more the ongoing costs, make this method not sustainable to operate in the way we envisaged. Lyn has conducted some successful training sessions on skype with the Victorian referees. Results, Panel Meetings & Communication I am receiving results of tests and competitions from all panels and these are sent to the Chief Examiners for review. 13 I have received a set of minutes of Panel meetings from Vic plus information on the Victorian Officials facebook page. As a member of the WA Panel I get information from Lisa almost before I send it out. I am not currently receiving information other than results from NSW, QLD or SSA. WA and Victoria are holding workshops on a regular basis. Queensland have held workshops on Rollart presented by Lyn Cole. The Asia Pacific Skating Symposium held in Perth in November / December with Gabriele Quirini, Luca Lacaroni, Hugo Chapouto and Nicola Genchi was a great initiative from Michele Wollens and the WA Artistic Committee. The seminar was a success and has been a very valuable introduction to Rollart for the Oceania region providing the knowledge and expertise for Susan Brooks from Australia and Pam Peters from New Zealand to successfully complete the assessment for technical specialists in freeskating.. Congratulation to Michele Wollens for having the innovation and courage to organise this event. Another is planned for It is with sadness that I report that Gabriele Quirini died in a motor vehicle accident earlier in the year, Gabriele is missed by many friends all around the world. Since my report to the 2017 AGM the following people have successfully completed commissions: - Name State Discipline Level Evie Karp NSW Figures Silver Robert Karp NSW Figures Silver Alexandra Mulvey NSW Figures Silver Ebene Montgomery NSW Figures Bronze Robert Karp NSW Pairs Bronze Robert Karp NSW Dance Silver Robert Karp NSW Precision Gold Evie Karp NSW Dance Silver Gail Dane NSW Referee Gold Patricia Winter QLD Figures Silver Craig Barry QLD Figures Silver Helen Woffenden QLD Dance Bronze Rosemary Beck SSA Calculating Level 1 Lauren Purcell VIC Freeskating Bronze Sam Cudmore VIC Freeskating Bronze Lisa Gilchrist VIC Freeskating Bronze Jessica Malony VIC Freeskating Bronze Brenda Zetzmann VIC Referee Gold Sharyn Harris VIC Figures Silver Alexandra Templar VIC Figures Bronze Cheryl Jackson VIC Figures Silver Erin Ascenzo VIC Figures Gold Michelle Evans VIC Figures Gold Seona Martin Vic All Disciplines International A Michele Evans VIC Precision Gold Lisa Gaudion VIC Referee Figures & Dance Gold Anne Edward WA Figures Bronze Laree Bond WA Figures Bronze Lisa Cain WA Figures Gold Lisa Cain WA Freeskating Gold CAOC Chairman: Pat Wallace, PO Box 403, Augusta WA 6290 Tel: (08) (H) Mob E mail pwallace7@icloud.com - 2 -

Lisa Cain WA Pairs Silver Susan Brooks WA Freeskating WSK ATC Controller 32 new or upgraded commissions in all. Congratulations to all those people and to Susan and Seona on their success at the highest level. Victoria is the winner of the judges challenge trophy for 2018 skating year In 2017 Fred and Mary Slade resigned their commissions and Suzanne Haughey has resigned her International A calculating commission. We thank them for their valuable contributions over many years. In 2018 Kevin Wilkins resigned his judging commissions after many years of support to CAOC and AAC as an International and National official. Kevin will be missed and we thank him for his contribution and wish him all the very best in his new sport of lawn bowls. Updates I am relying on Panel Chairmen to monitor expiry dates for commissions and forward applications for officials who need to update their commissions. I do look from time to time and have recently issued reminders to Panel Chairmen to follow up on Skate Australia membership and commissions that have expired or are about to expire. Officials in training All States have registered student officials in all disciplines; Many have been on the list for an extended time. I would appreciate it if Panel Chairs would contact all people who have nominated for commission examinations and find out their current interest so that the list can be updated. Please make sure that fees relating to officials are paid into the Skate Australia artistic account and mark the payment as CAOC - name of the official so that we can track payments and have access to the funds. NOAS Officiating Courses We are all experiencing the trauma of change due to preparation for the implementation of Rollart in Currently we are in a transitional phase some aspects of which have not been ideal which has necessitated some changes to the initial approach. The final Rollart product will provide a much fairer assessment tool for athletes as every technical element presented is assessed on its merits together with the four elements of the B mark. The skater starts the performance with a mark of 0.1 for taking the floor and accumulates points as the performance progresses. As this is a totally different concept from our previous method of assessment, it will take time to develop the skills to adjust to the programme. Although it has not been plain sailing, and documentation has been lacking, we are well on the way to full implementation. My thanks to the Rollart Action Group of Lyn Cole, Susan Brooks and Seona Martin, who were appointed by AAC to implement rollart, for the commitment, hard work and dedication to the project. In view of major change to officiating at World Skate ATC level we will be updating the officiating courses and manuals. This is a huge job for the Chief Examiners and will take some time to complete. The CERS manuals and World Skate ATC will be reference points in the meantime with our manuals being used for proficiency tests schedules. In the transitional phase proficiency tests will receive a pass or fail (competent/not yet competent) assessment rather than an actual mark. CERS manual is available at and World Skate We have no further information on the new course format from ASC so have not progressed further on our intention to have courses at 3 base levels, development, intermediate and advanced which equate roughly to bronze, silver and gold in content level + elite which will be the FIRS ATC commission. Candidates will do the base course at each level in a stepwise fashion and at least one elective discipline. They can then do further electives at the same level without repeating the base course or progress to the next level in the disciplines they already hold. 15 Competitions Australian Championship 2018 I will not return from Holland until the early hours of the 10 th July. Chris Clough has agreed to Chair the CAOC AGM and attend the AAC meeting on my behalf. To date I have 4 officials who have offered their services for B Panel plus Susan Brooks has offered help especially with freeskating Australian Championship Requirements & Schedule 2019 Production of Australian Championship requirements for 2018 has been a nightmare as evidenced by 20 versions to date, and we are still finding issues. I am thinking that it is no longer possible to publish requirements for the International Grades until CERS and World Skate ATCs have finalised their requirements. Requirements Committee will meet on 12 May during the WA State Championships and we will endeavour to set requirements for the National grades and outline changes to available events. New WSK ATC age levels will be operational from 1/1/2019 (see attachment) Changes for 2019 International Grades Primary solo dance will include Freedance Primary and Juvenile Figure will be in line with European Requirements National Grades Primary CSD will be deleted Freshman and mini-precision will be deleted Open Precision, Show and Quartet will have no age restrictions Oceania Championship Rotarua - New Zealand Judges Lyn Cole, Seona Martin, have been selected as Australian judges. We need at least 2 judges. WSK ATC dictate A judges. Worlds 2018 Mouilleron-le-Captif, France 1-14 October Karen Aronis has been invited to judge the World Championship in France. Congratulations Karen. International Commissions Currently Australia has 11 International officials including 4 A judges, 5 A calculators, 1 AR judges who is a B referee, and 1 B judge. Suzanne Haughey resigned her calculating commission at the end of Congratulations to Seona Martin on obtaining the World Skate Artistic Technical Committee A judging commission and to Susan Brook on passing the assessment for Technical Specialist in Freeskating. Several judges and coaches attended the World Skate Artistic Symposium held in Rome in January which will assist us in developing skills in the Rollart. Karen Aronis attended the WSK ATC symposium held in Shanghai in April. Our thanks to WSK Asia for inviting Oceania officials and coaches to attend. Australia has a need for more international judges so I would like all Panels to embark on a talent identification among existing young judges and senior skaters who may be interested in adopting a career in judging. 16 Manuals, Chris Clough and I have completed the update of the AAC and CAOC manuals to incorporate the changes made by CAOC, AAC, World Skate ATC and European committees. We are regularly checking information on the World Skate and the European Artistic Committee webpages. Already we need to make a change to the International inline ages of eligibility from 1/9 to 1/11 of the preceding year. With the implementation of Rollart all our rules will change again and we ask the permission of the committee to introduce all changes to the rules necessary in agreement with CERS and WSK ATC rules. WSK ATC is working on technical manuals to be used universally in the World. We ask the meeting permit us to implement the use of these manuals when they become available Jodie Nelson has started to update the dance manuals into a different format with a theory manual and separate manuals for couples dance and solo dances arranged in alphabetical order. This will be put on hold until we can assess material from World Skate ATC Conclusion I would like to thank everyone for the help and support they have given to the CAOC and the coaches and athletes who show great sportsmanship in their attitude to officials. Officials always try to do their best for the athletes and the sport. Thank you to all the Panel Chairmen, Chief Examiners, Chris Clough, Barry, Jodie, Pam and the AAC executive and everyone for your support, assistance and contribution to the sport throughout the year. It is a pleasure to work with you all. Regards Dr Patricia Wallace National CAOC Chairman CAOC Chairman: Pat Wallace, PO Box 403, Augusta WA 6290 Tel: (08) (H) Mob E mail pwallace7@icloud.com - 5 -

Attachment 3 SKATE AUSTRALIA Inc COMMISSIONED ARTISTIC OFFICIALS COMMITTEE CHIEF EXAMINER CALCULATING REPORT TO CAOC AGM FROM THE CHIEF EXAMINER FOR CALCULATING 2018 Introduction Activities carried out during the year included the following: 1. Calculating examination 1 off 2. NOAS Courses no work currently required 3. Maintenance of the national proficiency test database - ongoing 4. Calculating Program sk8calc - ongoing Calculating Examinations Calculating candidates working with mentors around the country, with a number of successful examinations since the last CAOC AGM The table below indicates those candidates who are still officially candidates, although a number appear to be no longer actively pursuing their commissions and need to be confirmed by their State CAOC VP: Chapter Name Level Applied For Status NSW Leonard Karp 1 Ongoing NSW Brett Beatty 2 Ongoing QLD Kathleen McPhail 1 Ongoing SA Rosemary Beck 1 Passed SA Dean Brown No Application received SA Michael Bryant No Application received VIC Karen McKeown 2 Ongoing VIC Jayne Cachia 1 Ongoing VIC Patricia Earle 1 Ongoing VIC Seona Martin 1 Commenced VIC Drijfhout, Diana 1 Ongoing WA Debbie Martin 1 Ongoing WA Laree Bond 1 Commenced WA Karen Wrankmore 1 Commenced WA Diane Palmer 2 Awaiting Application Christopher Clough 29 Feather Close Forestdale Queensland 4118 T: F: M: E: cloughc@bigpond.com

SKATE AUSTRALIA Inc COMMISSIONED ARTISTIC OFFICIALS COMMITTEE CHIEF EXAMINER CALCULATING With the imminent introduction of the Rollart system, the traditional role of the calculator will change. There will be no manual calculations as we do now. Everything will be done by the Rollart program, as I understand it. There will be a data entry person on the judging panel to enter marks, and this person does not need to be a calculator. The role can be filled by any competent data entry person. The person will need to undergo an examination to be certified in the role. There will also be an event manager. This person will fulfil the role currently carried out by existing calculators, including setup of the computer system for the competition, but also receiving the marks from the Rollart system during an event, placing skaters, preparing reports etc, again as I understand it. Each of the data entry position and the event manager position will require multiple persons for a competition, to allow for rest periods of these people. However I expect that the number of people required to provide these support roles will be reduced from the numbers we use now. Given this and the fact that we don t have anything more definite yet from Rollart, there is no ongoing recruitment of calculating students at this stage. NOAS Courses NOAS Calculating Courses for levels 1 and 2 calculating were revised in 2014 and approved by ASC. No further work has been done on the calculating NOAS course material pending the change of roles with the Rollart implementation. National Proficiency Test Database It is important that all States continue to send proficiency test forms and results to AAC/CAOC, so that the National Proficiency Test Database can be maintained. This is used for compliance checking of State nominations for the Australian Championships. Thanks to all those who continue to provide these results. Please ensure that everyone continues to use the latest version of the proficiency test spreadsheet, and that users have received user documentation on how to use the spreadsheet, in particular regarding the preparation of summary results to send to CAOC. Calculating Program Sk8calc is now well entrenched and accepted as the standard calculating program for Skate Australia. It has been and is being used extensively by all States for all competitions and no calculators appear to be having any issues with the program. There are still issues on the list to be addressed but these are enhancements to improve usability, and not error-producing issues. Christopher Clough 29 Feather Close Forestdale Queensland 4118 T: F: M: E: cloughc@bigpond.com

SKATE AUSTRALIA Inc COMMISSIONED ARTISTIC OFFICIALS COMMITTEE CHIEF EXAMINER CALCULATING The proficiency test area of the program is not being used at present and its development has slowed due to other issues not related to the program development. Many thanks to Barry Andrews and to all of the test group for their input to the development of this program. Again, the calculating section of this program will be phased out as Rollart is introduced. Summary Thanks to Pam Young, Patricia Wallace, Barry Andrews, our judges and referees, and everyone else who has helped out during the year. In particular, a special thanks to all of our calculators who do a mighty job behind the scenes a job that is little appreciated by the general public, who see you just sitting in front of a computer screen entering marks and getting results, without any understanding of the work that goes on before, during and after a competition, especially a major event, to make this all seem so simple during the competition. Your help is very greatly appreciated. Always remember that everything we do is for the skaters. I move that my report be accepted. 20 SKATE AUSTRALIA COMMISSIONED ARTISTIC OFFICIALS' COMMITTEE Chief Examiner of Dance and Freedance Karen Aronis 24 May 2018 Ref Chief Examiners Report CHIEF EXAMINERS DANCE REPORT CAOC AGM 2018 It has been a very busy and challenging year so far with the changes we are experiencing during our transitional year to RollArt. Although there is still a lot of work to be completed before RollArt can be introduced in its entirety, I am sure that we will all appreciate and enjoy the new system next year. While we have not had as many commissions completed this year, we have quite a large number working towards completion. There are some who are finishing their practical hours and others that want to take their time and understand the workbook more. Each person works towards their commissions at their own pace. Congratulations must go to the following officials who have successfully completed and those currently completing their commission. Evie Karp NSW Silver Dance Completed Robert Karp NSW Silver Dance Completed It is important to attract new judges and senior skaters to the judging world. Across the board in all States, the average age of our judging panels is increasing very quickly. This has been brought to the fore with the recent retirement of Kevin Wilkins. Kevin was always willing to work with all levels of judges and share his vast wealth of knowledge. Now more than ever we need to spend the time developing our younger judges so we can continue to run our competitions efficiently and cost effectively in the future. Finally, I would like to wish all competitors and officials a very successful 2017 Australian Championships. I am looking forward to seeing all skaters doing their best this week. I ask that my report be accepted. 29 Attachment 9 NSW CAOC CHAIR ANNUAL REPORT 2018 Late last year I was appointed NSW CAOC Chair, taking over from Vicki Ratcliffe. Firstly I want to thank Vicki for all of the work she put in as the previous chair, getting our student officials motivated and probably the highest number of new commissions for NSW in quite a while. I had big shoes to step into, so thank you Vicki. We also had a change in Artistic Chairperson and Coaches Chairperson which has been a chance to get some new ideas and share the current workload around amongst members. Thank you to Gail Dane for all of her hard work and passion she put into the role. Karen Ravenscroft-Wheeler has volunteered to take on the Artistic Chair role and has hit the ground running. Robert Karp has stepped into the previously vacant Coaches Chair role, which has already shown to be of great value having someone actively working in that space. This year we had to cancel our first competition due to a few issues starting off the year, however we have now had a successful State Championships, 1 competition and 2 test centres. Since I have been NSW CAOC Chair we have had the following successful new commissions with quite a few more in progress (6 Figures, 8 Freeskating, 4 Dance) Gail Dane Alexandra Mulvey Evangeline Karp Robert Karp Ebene Montgomery Referee Silver Figures Silver Dance Silver Dance Bronze Figures We still only have around 10 active judges/referees and 2 calculators, which is starting to cause some issues when people are unavailable and most have coaching/skating conflicts. However with the transition into Rollart, hopefully we can encourage some new faces into officiating, along with the changes in roles meaning there should be less reliance on individual officials to be available for every competition. In regards to the transition to Rollart, NSW hasn't been as busy as some other states, but we have been working along in the background as we are able. We were able to send 5 officials over to Perth for the symposium which was extremely valuable. Locally, we were able to have Susan Brooks present to us in October, and as Lyn Cole and Jim Beard were judging at our State Titles in April, we were lucky enough to be able to run another workshop before competition started which set us up for a successful weekend, and got everyone asking questions and thinking about what is coming up ahead of us. Personally, I have also been lucky enough to attend competitions in QLD and VIC, learning a lot along the way to bring back to NSW so we are all ready to go next year, so thank you to Seona, Val and Kathleen. This year there has been a lot of change in NSW, but we are in a position that 2018/19 will be a great year for everyone involved. Thank you Briony Beckett NSW CAOC Chair

Attachment 10 Queensland Panel Commissioned Artistic Officials Committee ANNUAL REPORT 2018 I am pleased to provide this report for the Queensland officials for the previous 12 months. As in previous years it has been a very busy time. Since the last report, officials have been provided by the Queensland Panel for 6 test centres and 8 competitions, this includes tests held at the end of some competitions. COMPETITIONS AND TESTS A combined competition and test was held in Cairns in October 2017, but the scheduled Townsville event was cancelled. Many thanks to the officials who travelled North to officiate as well as mentor the student judges. Leagues continue to provide new skaters who then move into higher leagues and tests are continuing to see skaters progress to the next level and to allow skaters to meet the requirements for specific events. Also, the re-organisation of the leagues has reduced the number from 12 in 2017 to 8 in The leagues also saw the introduction of the new marking system where judges have been familiarising themselves with the new procedures The Queensland Championships will be held from the 4 th to the 6 th of May with the Prep-States once again incorporated in the program for States providing skaters from the Elementary and Secondary Leagues the opportunity to experience skating in a State Competition will see the introduction of the new marking system at the Queensland State Championship. This will be a new experience for both officials and skaters. Both Susan Brooks and Lisa Cain are travelling to Brisbane to officiate at States/ Prep-States this year and their time and effort is very much appreciated. OFFICIALS Thank you to all officials who continue to give freely of their time to attend our Leagues and Tests and act as mentors to student judges so that our skaters can continue to improve and extend their skating knowledge and abilities. Your time and efforts are much appreciated. At this time, I would like to acknowledge Kevin Wilkins who has resigned from his skating commissions to pursue his new activity in Lawn Bowls, Kevin was one of our international judges who worked tirelessly in our sport for many years. I also note the passing of George Russell, a life member of our federation and friend to many of us over the years. We farewelled George on the 8 th of February, our sincere condolences to Lorraine, Susan and Stephen. Commissions have been completed by the following people since last year s report. Silver Figures

Attachment 11 Skate South Australia Artistic CAOC Report- Hannah Knott Accreditations Unfortunately, the end of 2017 brought the news of three of our officials looking to retire. Sarah Watson, Robert Cracknell and Vicki Cracknell have all advised that they will not be returning to officiate in future. Since then, earlier this year we also were advise that Kim Victory has also decided not to continue judging bronze freeskating. After their many years of service to the sport of Artistic Rollerskating, we will them the best with their future endeavours. We currently have two new student officials: one for first level calculating and one for bronze freeskating. Carly Bryant and Kate Andrews are both enjoying learning the roles and their responsibilities. New accreditations - Rosemary Beck was successful in gaining her accreditation for Level 1 Calculating Commission in July of Competitions Over the year we have held two proficiency test day and three competitions. All events ran smoothly with officials, coaches and skaters all working well together efficiently. Our first two competitions of the skating year were held in February and April with great results all around. We would like to thank Jess Maloney from ASVI for attending our April league competition. We would also like to thank ASVI for allowing our judges and calculators to attend the Victorian State Championships to utilise their knowledge and resources. After the competition we were able to put Rollart into practice prior to our South Australian State Championships. SA State Championships South Australia held their State Championships on 19 th May at The Parks Community Centre. We would like to, once again thank Seona Martin for attending and continuing to educate South Australian on RollArt and squeezing in another workshop with our officials.

RollArt Workshop Skate SA would like to thank Seona Martin for running a RollArt Workshop on the 14 th April. We had great attendance from both skater and parent of Team SkateFX, Gawler Skating Club, Officials and Coaches. Goals for 2019 As it was last year, our aim for the next year is to continue to encourage more current skaters, ex-skaters and coaches to take up student officiating across all disciplines to increase their knowledge as well as increasing the number of accredited officials in the state. I would like to thank all of our officials, clubs and skaters for all of their hard work throughout the skating year.

Attacgment 13 Western Australia s CAOC Report 2018 I am pleased to provide this report for WA s officials for the 2018 skating year. At the time of writing this report we have held 3 leagues in Perth, 1 st in November, 2 nd in February and 3 rd in March. We have had 2 Rink comps held in Bunbury, 1 st in March where The Rink had brought over Seona Martin and this was our first competition with the use of the lower capping marks and B Mark components. 2 nd was in April and The Rink brought over Lynette Cole. We thank The Rink for their fundraising to bring over these interstate judges to WA. We are having our state championships 12/13 May with Patricia Wallace, Karen Aronis and Jim Beard coming over to judge. Thank you for coming over, it is great for our skaters to get fresh perspectives on their skating and for officials to communicate with other judges and learn more skills. We will be holding League 4 in June prior to National Championships in July. We have also had multiple proficiency tests throughout the year and during competitions. WA held APSS over November/December 2017, it was a great success with Nicola going through Rollart and explaining how the system works. We were very fortunate to have it in Perth and thank all those who helped make it possible! We have had multiple workshops presented by Susan Brooks introducing Rollart to us. I would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you for everything Sue has done for Rollart in Australia and everything she has done for us in WA. She gives us so much of her time and money to be able to bring this to us and I would like to show my appreciation. Sue has presented the following workshops on Rollart in WA: 1 st October 2017 Artistic Components of Rollart 11 th February 2018 Philosophy of Rollart 4 th March 2018 QOE & Components Discussions (with Seona Martin) 14 th April 2018 Step Sequences & Discussions (with Lynette Cole) We would like to see more coaches and skaters attending these workshops as they all have questions about what is happening with the transition to Rollart and a lot of their questions would or could be answered at these workshops. At this point in time no further workshops have been organised but I know we will be planning more to help the transition into Rollart 2019.

Attachment 14 Australian Artistic Committee Chairperson Pam Young ANNUAL REPORT OF AUSTRALIAN ARTISITC COMMITTEE 2018 AAC COMMITTEE AAC CHAIR Pam Young CAOC CHAIR Dr Patricia Wallace AACC CHAIR VIC VP SA WA QLD NSW Jodie Johnson Garufo Brenda Zetsmann Julie McCoy Travers Trudy Cottrell Helen Lloyd Jones Gail Dane (R) Karen Ravenscroft Wheeler The introduction of the new Rollart method of scoring which is to take effect fully in 2019 has been a major focus for Artistic Skating. We have to thank Michele Wollens and the WA Artistic Committee for holding an International seminar in November Skaters, Coaches and Officials from around Australia attended coming away with a beginning understanding of the new system and it impact on both coaching and judging. Following this the AAC sponsored Seona Martin (CAOC) and Jodie Johnson Garufo (AACC) to attend the Rollart seminar in Italy in January. Lyn Cole, Susan Brooks, Rachel Donnelly, Michele Wollens, and Jayson Sutcliffe also attended all bringing back valuable insights into the rollout of the new system. Karin Aronis attended a subsequent seminar in Shanghai in April. A subcommittee of the Requirements Committee was formed to develop a coordinated approach to informing state officials, coaches and skaters of the new system with a roll out of the new approach to the judging of the artistic component of routines. Our congratulations and thanks go to Susan Brooks, Seona Martin and Lyn Cole for their work in delivering seminars in all states. I am still waiting on a proposal for the costs of the technology required for the system implementation as well as further training on the technical scoring. Australian Artistic Committee 10 Garrick Ct Wheelers Hill pj.young@bigpond.com Phone: Mobile:

Australian Artistic Committee Chairperson Pam Young The preliminary work undertaken will give Australia an advantage in using the full system once it is rolled out. Seona Martin was recently invited to judge at the German cup under the new system. Her learning from this and all the training she did prior to the event will stand us in good stead. Overall it is felt that the new system is an appropriate way forward for skating and will impact on the way skater s routines are developed which will be for the betterment of the sport. There is currently both an atmosphere of excitement and apprehension as to the way forward. The change also to Australia aligning itself with International requirements has left much to address. Thanks go to Pat Wallace, Jodie Nelson, Chris Clough and the Requirements Committee for the work in making all the required changes to documentation. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS Our Artistic Skaters have acquitted themselves well at both World and Oceania level with us winning a number of the trophies at Oceania. Those who skated at the World Roller Games will always be able to say that they were part of the first combined roller sports games. A team of skaters from Qld, WA and Vic participated in the Chapatim Roller Cup in Portugal with medals won. Two skaters competed in the German Cup again acquitting themselves well. There appears to be increasing interest in attending International competitions including those skaters at a younger age level. While this provides invaluable experience for our skaters my concern is that it will come at the expense of people seeing our Oceania competition as the first step into International competition. However with the restriction of numbers being able to compete at the World Championships we will also have to look more formally at other International competitions for our Juniors and Seniors in which to compete if we wish to keep them in the sport. In keeping with Child Safety requirements post the Royal Commission the AAC took some difficult decisions in relation the accompaniment of skaters attending overseas competitions and training. These decisions have given rise to some level of controversy in some areas but have not been made lightly and have been put in place for the safety of all concerned. There is both a legal and moral obligation of all sporting bodies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their members. 41 Australian Artistic Committee Chairperson Pam Young THANK YOU My special thanks go to the State VPs who do their best to communicate out to clubs the information that is received. They work tirelessly for the betterment of the sport in their state. Gail Dane resigned earlier this year as VP of NSW. I thank her for the work she did for skating in that state and many thanks to Karen for subsequently agreeing to take on the role. Thanks to Pat and Jodie for the work that they do in their respective areas. I would like to make special note of the resurgence of Artistic Skating in South Australia. This has not happened by chance but through a lot of hard work and dedication of a committed group of people. We need to be constantly open to ways of promoting and growing our sport. 42 Attachment 15 ROLLER SPORTS AUSTRALIA Inc ACCREDITED ARTISTIC COACHES COMMITTEE PO Box 3143, Hendra QLD 4011 REPORT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2018 Dear Members Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my report and giving me the opportunity to for fill this role as Chairperson for the Accredited Artistic Coaches Committee Our current state representatives this year are: Robert Karp Anita Hunt Tammy Bryant Rachel Sketcher NSW QLD SA VIC Bill Foster WA Barry is still updating and looking after the website for us and this is greatly appreciated. He is still giving great input and helping with any questions I have. One of the biggest administration achievements this year for me has been the uploading all of the accreditations into the Revolutionise system and also the coaches portal updated as well. I must thank Cass Sellars for her assistance with this. There are still a few to be tidied up but these will be attended to within the next few weeks. From this process it was discovered that there were quite a few outdated accreditations and coaches had allowed their accreditations to lapse without updating. I believe most of these have been rectified now. It is up to the individual coaches to ensure they have their updating in to their state coaching chairperson before it expires. Unaccredited coaches put themselves and their skaters at risk if they continue to coach after their accreditation has lapsed. At the time of writing this report I have requested new passwords for the coaches portal for all state VPs and coaching chairpersons so the state committee chairpersons can have access to the most updated information about their coaches.

I attended the AAC SAM (semi-annual meeting) in February. This was a very constructive meeting and the representatives from each state along with Pam, Pat and myself seem to cover a lot of ground that weekend and we all felt like we had gained something to take back to our own committees. A highlight for me was to attend the World Skate Artistic Roller Skating International Seminar in Rome. It was such a fabulous learning experience coupled with the networking opportunities. I did share as much as possible on the Facebook page as quickly as possible. Communication has been working well with mainly utilising the Facebook page to share information as quickly as possible. Using this form of communication everyone has the opportunity to see the information at the same time as everyone else. I am not waiting for State Chairpersons to read and forward s and even if you are not a member of your state coaching association, you will receive the information. Coaches need to be fully accredited as a coach to be an approved member of this Facebook page. Roll art implementation means some exciting times ahead for the artistic skating world. I am part of the RAG (Roll art Action Group) and everyone has been working very hard to prepare for Roll art in This year has been the transition year and whilst it has taken a bit to get used to, judges and coaches alike are working towards a common goal during this transition period. I am still wanting to enlist and confirm at least one examiner in each State in both Intermediate and Advanced levels. States need to be able to accommodate their own accreditation examinations at both levels by utilising their own examiners. I would like to thank the State AACC chairpersons for their assistance together with a special thank you to Pat Wallace and Pam Young for continued support. Regards Jodie Johnson-Garufo AACC Chairperson

It was agreed that A recommendation be made to AAC that Tiny Tot age is adjusted from under 9 years to under 10 Years The requirement level for primary and juvenile in the International pathway has increased and there is no option for 10 year-old skaters to compete in the National pathway. The only option for 11 year old skater is to skate in Preliminary together with adult skaters and higher level requirements. Committee agreed that, as a general principle, there should be continuity in both National and International pathways Possible solutions were considered and it was agreed that the best option is to recommend to AAC that: Preliminary entry age is increased to 12 years A new grade is introduced to the National pathway for skaters aged 10 and 11 years. This grade to be named Promotional. Requirements committee recommend that the following grades be deleted from the schedule Precision Freshman and mini It is recommended that due to potential for stress on joints, ligaments and tendons of young skaters that the minimum age for open precision, show and quartet is 8 years with a warning on entry forms that there is a risk especially in elements that involve centrifugal forces e.g. pin wheels Dance & Solo Dance Inline grades were discussed and it is recommended to delete them from the 2019 schedule due to lack of up take. If there is a rekindling of interest in the future reinstatement can be considered. Page 2

Attachment 16 Course Co-ordinator Report 2018 Report by Seona Martin As of 14 th May 2018 Officials Education 2017/2018 has been a year of many exciting changes in Artistic Roller Skating as World Skate works towards improving the quality and marketing of our sport. After Nationals 2017, the development of a blended education system to include online training combined with practical work to train officials in Australia was investigated, however it was found that the cost of this would be too great. Other options are currently being investigated to improve the presentation of the education courses offered to officials in Australia including the use of other online tools. The referee is an essential part of the competition and Lynette Cole has continued to work with Jodie Nelson in developing Referees across the country and some of these have now been commissioned which is fantastic. Thank you, Lyn & Jodie for your continued work in this area. The state CAOC Chairs, state AAC Chairs, Chief Examiners and others have continued to assist in the organising of workshops and practical training for new and commissioned officials in their states as well as travelling to other states to present at workshops and assist in the training of officials. I thank them for this work. Rollart In Nov/Dec 2017 Australia was fortunate enough to have Nicola Genchi Chairperson of World Skate Artistic Technical Panel here at the Asia Pacific Skating Symposium. Thanks go to the organising committee of the APSS for making this possible. This workshop united and educated over 20 officials from across the country in their enthusiasm for Rollart. Since then, 3 officials from Australia attended the World Skate Seminar in Rome in January and the Rollart Action Group (RAG) was formed with the purpose of ensuring our skaters, coaches and officials are in the best position for success when Rollart is officially released to the Federations for the 2019 skating year. The group has been working together and have organised 11 workshops in 5 states with over 200+ attendees. These workshops have focused on an overview of the Rollart system, it s philosophy and how it works, the components of Artistic Impression and QOEs for Freeskating. Plans are in place for further education and training including more on components, QOEs and the training of Technical Specialists amongst other things. The content of these workshops is carefully being constructed so that it is the same content being presented across the country.

It is important to remember that the implementation of Rollart is part of a bigger picture to improve the quality of our sport and we are in a transition phase. The system continues to be updated and improve every day. As well as Rollart, another important component of this bigger picture is to create conformity around the world in the way we do things (in the language we speak, in the rules we abide by, and in the scoring), hence we must be patient as we work with the updated information we receive from World Skate. I encourage all to partake in the opportunities presented by the RAG to ensure they remain up to date and informed during this exciting time for our sport. Future Plans and Opportunities Continued Rollart Workshops in states across Australia World Skate Seminar Orlando, Florida JANUARY 2019, Dates & Venue TBC Other Seminars being offered across the world inc in Argentina (These are advertised on the National CAOC Facebook page) National Seminar Late Jan/Early Feb 2019, Dates and Venue TBC Set up and implementation of a private Facebook Group for Officials in Australia to provide important information and training opportunities. In closing this report, I would like to thank Pam Young (AAC Chair) and Patricia Wallace (CAOC Chair) for their continued support and trust, the Rollart Action Group (Patricia Wallace, Jodie Johnson, Lynette Cole & Susan Brooks) for their tireless work and support, The Chief examiners, Artistic Chairpersons & CAOC Chairs of each state and others, who are working with the RAG and myself in this important work that is changing Artistic Skating positively for the future. I wish everyone the very best for the 2018 National Artistic Skating Championships. I ask that my report be accepted. Regards Seona Martin Course Co-ordinator seonask8@hotmail.com Unit 74/1 Sandilands Street, South Melbourne, Victoria 3205
