1 IAPS U11 GIRLS NETBALL QUALIFIER WEDNESDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2018

2 WELCOME FROM RUGBY SCHOOL A warm welcome to Rugby School to you all. We are excited to be hosting the IAPS U11 Girls Netball qualifier and hope that you all enjoy being part of this tournament. At Rugby we pride ourselves on our coaching provision and facilities which we are delighted to be sharing with you today. My career spans over 20 years with Birmingham Blaze Super league netball team, Warwickshire Netball, Copsewood Diamonds National Clubs division 1 Netball team. I Captained Warwickshire and West Midlands Senior Netball from Alongside myself, we have other Rugby School qualified netball coaching staff and also Warwickshire s U16 head coach Abi Cannings who help support the program all-year round. Training takes place in the 2 indoor netball courts or 7 outside netball courts. Other key facts about netball at Rugby School are: All Scholars play Netball as their major Lent term sport but are encouraged to enhance their Netball experience at the School in a number of ways throughout the year. Warwickshire U14 and U16 academies and Wasps U17 academy train at Rugby school and coaches liaise with players to ensure continuity of training is applied. Training matches against the County Academies and Wasps academies take place frequently. All Girls s involved in County programmes are encouraged to attend Academy sessions throughout the year and the departments make all necessary arrangements to ensure players can arrive at representational matches outside of school time. Weekly training sessions take place Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the year and on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Lent term. Scholars receive 1:2:1 sessions specific to their positions, such as shooting clinics, and interception workshops. The U14 team are registered to play in a club league on Sunday mornings that plays from September to April. The School enters the national school s Netball competitions at U14, U16 and U18 age groups and the ISNC Smile cup at U15 and U19 age groups. There is a bi-annual Tour to Singapore/Australia for the senior girl s teams and a junior tour every 2 years, which means every netballer at the School will have a chance to tour twice in the Lower and the Upper School. WELCOME FROM IAPS SPORT The IAPS sports programme saw 23,500 children participate in 110 events across 26 different sports. The programme will see 131 events organised, from team sports such as hockey, netball, football and rugby, to individual sports including triathlon, skiing, clay pigeon shooting, judo and fencing. There really is something for everyone. Welcome to an IAPS Netball qualifier. Our competitions are growing every year. This year there are 10 venues hosting the U11, U12 and U13 qualifying competitions. The National Finals will be held at Basildon Sports Centre on Friday 9 March Whether this is your first time at an IAPS event or you have entered for many years, we hope your team enjoys the tournament. IAPS passionately believes in the importance of sport as part of an all-round education for its pupils. First and foremost, sport is about participation and enjoyment. Good Luck!
