2 Fáilte Tá Féile na ngael ag leanúint ar aghaidh anois le 43 bliana. Stór scéaltaí, comhoibriú, réamh-ullmhúcháin, conspóidí, thuas-seal-thíos-seal, gach gné de rothaí mór an tsaoil. Táimíd ar ais arís i mbliana agus níos mó na 700 cailíní óga in ár measc. Molaim go deo iad agus éinne atá páirteach sa dea-scéal seo. Each year Féile na ngael continues to demonstrate the wonderful joy of being young and not so young as the competition is seen as an important step in the camogie player s relationship with the world s fastest female sport. Countless hours have gone into the preparations and I extend appreciation to all clubs, players, parents, schools, mentors, sponsors and anyone associated with this mega week-end. But this is a shared endeavour. This is not about anyone organisation or individual. It is about each contributing to something that enhances all who come under its umbrella. It is civic engagement at its finest. Formed in 1974, the dream of a Tipperary man Séamas Ó Riain whose son Jack was married to the late Orla Ní Shiocháin, a Dublin camogie star in her day, Féile na ngael continues to create a store of memories that will never be erased. A number of teams from this week-end s competition will experience the joy and honour of taking part in the national finals which are being jointly organised by Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford. But the Dublin event contains its own unique qualities and I would like to thank host clubs Lucan Sarsfields, Erins Isle, Naomh Olaf, St. Annes and Castleknock for their efforts and hospitality. A warm word of appreciation also to the Dublin GAA County Board for the use of O Toole Park and local manager Luke Lawlor. I have no doubt that all will respect the Féile charter which calls on all participants to ensure that, at a very minimum, our Gaelic Games are promoted and played in a positive, fair and enjoyable manner where players, coaches, spectators and referees Give Respect and Get Respect from each other. Sincere appreciation to all officials and referees for their support not only this week-end but throughout the year. Check out for reports and photos from the week-end happenings. If you would like to submit a report/photo please pro.dublin@camogie.ie. Gúim gach rath ar gach foireann. 3 Rules Dublin Camogie Féile na ngael 2017 Rules of the competition (1) Féile na ngael is for 15-a-side teams, comprising players who are over 10 and under 14 years of age on 1 st January in the year of Féile. Participants in the Féile Skillstar Competition are also subject to the same age limitation. Teams in Divisions 4 & 5 may play with 13-a-side if they do not have 15 players. (2) A panel shall be confined to a maximum of 24 players and 3 team mentors. (3) Each competing team must register on the official registration form, 5 weeks prior to competition. The Registration Form must be signed by the Club Rúnaí. Any alteration to the original registration must be notified to the Dublin Camogie Féile na ngael prior to the first game of the weekend. This will be done through the local Féile Official at the host club venue. Thereafter, no alterations will be accepted. (4) A player may be required by a Féile Official to give her signature and date of birth at any time during the Féile. (5) Games will be played on a full-size pitch. (6) All Group games will be played on a 15-a-side basis over 15 minutes per half. In Groups where a quarter-final is involved, the preliminary games and the quarterfinal will be of 15 minutes per half. An interval of 5 minutes will be allowed. (7) Eight substitutions are allowed, but only during a stoppage in play and with the permission of the referee. (8) Camogie matches governed by the full rules of An Treoraí Oifigiúil. The initial stages of the competition will be played on a league basis. In league competition, two points will be awarded for a win and one for a draw. The top team in each section will qualify for the semi finals, or quarter final, where relevant. Should two teams finish level on points, the winner of the original game between those two teams will progress. If that game ended in a draw, or if more than two teams ended level on points, qualification for the semi final or quarter final will be decided by playoff as follows: Cumann Camógaíochta na Gael Coiste Átha Cliath Dublin Féile na ngael

4 Rules Two teams level: A play-off game of ten minutes (2 x 5 mins) will be played. If this game ends in a draw then an additional period of extra time will be played, the team to register the first score to be deemed the winner. For this additional period of extra time the referee will again toss to decide which way the teams will play. Three teams level: A round-robin play-off will be played, following an open draw, A v B, B v C and A v C. Each game will be ten minutes (2 x 5 mins) duration, with two points awarded for a win and one for a draw. If this method fails to divide the teams then the tie shall be decided (based on these three games) by the following means and in the order specified: i) Scoring difference (Subtracting the total Scores against from the total Scores for) ii) Highest Total Score for iii) Scoring Average (divide total Score Against into total Score For) Four teams level: A knock out play-off will be played. Two semi final games will be played of ten minutes (2 x 5mins) duration, the pairings to be decided by an open draw. If a semi final game ends as a draw then an additional period of extra time will be played, the team to register the first score to be deemed the winner. For this additional period of extra time the referee will again toss to decide which way the teams will play. The knock out final of ten minutes (2 x 5 mins) duration will then be played. If this game finishes as a draw then an additional period of extra time will be played, the team to register the first score to be deemed the winner. For this additional period of extra time the referee will again toss to decide which way the teams will play. (9) In the event of a draw at the semi-final or quarter final stage of the competition, ten minutes extra time (2 x 5 mins) will be played. If a draw still results then an additional period of extra time will be played, the team to register the first score to be deemed the winner. For this additional period of extra time the referee will again toss to decide which way the teams will play. 4 Cumann Camógaíochta na Gael Coiste Átha Cliath Dublin Féile na ngael 2017

5 Rules Cluichí In the event of a draw in the final, ten minutes extra time (2 x 5 mins) will be played. In the event that the match is still a draw, another ten minutes of extra time (2x5mins) will be played. Should the match still be a draw after 2 rounds of extra time, additional 5 min periods will be played until a result is reached. (10) All teams shall wear the official club colours. 11 Erin s Isle Céad Bliain ag Fás When Erin s Isle was founded in January 1917 its sole purpose was to promote Gaelic football in Finglas. By the time the year was out the women of the parish were not content with cheering on their fathers and brothers from the sideline and so they formed a Camogie team. For the 1918 season Erin s Isle registered Football and Hurling team to facilitate the new reality. The family names were familiar in both codes, Emmetts, Bells, Maloney and McDonnell. The Camogie team was a formidable outfit and were unlucky to lose their league final to Erin s Isle camogie girls dressed in period costumes with referee on the day, Paddy Canning Faughs in Croke Park on 6th October After the disruption caused by the War of Independence and Civil War, games began to get back to normal. In 1925 the Isles were to win their first ever league title in Camogie. Players selected for the county team included, Annie Luby and two of the Maloney sisters. At the 1928 Tailteann Games Mrs. M McCarty representing Erin s Isle and Dublin, was on the successful Leinster Team defeating Connaught in the final. Isles remained competitive at the top level until the early 1930s, when after that it went into decline saw the revival of Camogie in Finglas. A Camogie section was set up in Erin s Isle and by the end of that year there were two teams registered, one juvenile to ensure that a solid foundation was being laid for the future. New family names surfaced Reaney, Toman, Boylan, Martins and Byrne. By 1975 they were Camogie Shield winners. Championship success was to follow in 1983/84. This was to continue at Adult and Juvenile level with several leagues and championships acquired along the way. By the year 2000 Isles were fielding two adult and four juvenile teams at different grades. Isles senior team at this stage were competing at the highest level eventually winning the Senior A Championship in 2003 beating St Vincent s after a replay. The Isles contribution to the county efforts has been strong and ongoing. In 1982 Clare Reaney and Mary Duane represented Isles on the winning inter county League team. While on the back to back Junior All Ireland winning teams of 2005 and 2006 Isles was represented by Julie Draper, Louise O Hara, Valerie Reaney, Gillian McCluskey and Anne Mc Cluskey, the latter captained Dublin on the second occasion. Louise O Hara and Anne Mc Cluskey were both nominated for an All Star in 2006, with Louise receiving the ultimate players accolade; she was also voted the Dublin Player of the Decade in 2014 at the same time Catherine Connaghan was inducted into the Camogie Hall of Fame. Over the years Isles has been well represented on County adult, juvenile and Develoent Squads. Today Erin s Isle fields three adult teams and at least one team in every juvenile age group. This year, 2017, the Club is celebrating the centenary of its foundation. A long list of Céad Bliain ag Fás events are planned for the year peaking with a Gala Dinner Dance Reunion in Croke Park in November. The celebrations kicked off on New Year s Day (wasting no time) with the raising of a specially commissioned Erin s Isle Centenary Flag over the club house and a robust Camogie match played in period costume, skirt, blouse and sash. A great day was had by all. Looking forward to the next one hundred years. Is Mise Liam Casey Cumann Camógaíochta na Gael Coiste Átha Cliath Dublin Féile na ngael
