3 Tournament at Elchenburg Castle November 10-12, 2017 Hosted by the Canton of Charlesbury Crossing It is Charlesbury Crossing s privilege nay, our PLEASURE to tell you of a tournament the likes of which has never before been seen in the Kingdom of Atlantia! Join us on the feast day of Saint Leo the Great for a Grand Tournament that will pit tourney companies against tourney companies. Archers! Practice your aim, for your accuracy will determine the fate of your team in the lists. Heralds! Your words will carry loud and far crying the virtues of your company! Squires, Knights, Men-at-Arms! Polish your armor and prepare to meet your fellows on the field. Cavalry! The skillful partnership of horse and rider will be on display for all to see! Will your tourney company take the day and prove to be the Seekers of Serenity, Protectors of Elchenburg Virginity, and the Enforcers of our Sovereign King?!? The Members of Cavalry are invited to form their own tournament companies (consisting of 1 rider, 1 herald, 1 archer, & 2 armored combatants) under the arms of their choice and/or creation to compete in the Grand Tournament on Saturday. The tournament will begin with an Archery Tournament, followed by an Armored Melee, then completed by the Cavalry Challenge Course. The finale of the tournament will be a singles Jousting Tournament for all those authorized. All activities will happen where the attendees can watch and enjoy the prowess of the competitors from the comfort of the Ladies Gallery or their personal pavilions. Spectators will be judging to determine Best Procession, Best Heraldic Display, and Best Herald of the Day. In addition to the Grand Tournament on Saturday, there will be various A&S Competitions Children s Activities, including a hobby horse race at the completion of the armored melee! After the completion of the Tournaments on Saturday the evening will feature a Buffet Feast of Sausage and Sauerkraut, followed by a Bardic Boasting Competition, Songs of Chivalry, and Mulled Cider around a beautiful bonfire. Arriving on Friday? We will entertain you Friday afternoon and evening with A&S activities, field games, a torchlight armored Cheapside Tournament, and a Pre-Tournament Ball surrounded by the arms of the Tournament Companies. 3

4 P e n n s i c 4 6 : W i n d m a s t e r s H i l l B a r o n i a l C a m p July 28 August 13, If you wish to camp with Windmasters Hill at Pennsic, you MUST: Pre-register with Coopers Lake for Pennsic by Saturday, June 18. Fill out the Windmasters Hill Pennsic Camp Form The Baronial Camp registration form helps us plan the baronial camp layout. Please remember you MUST register with Coopers Lake in order for our land group to receive your allotment. Things to keep in mind when you register: 1. The camp requires you donate at LEAST 75 sq feet of land per registration to account for the shower, common tent, paths and other service areas of camp. Please note this is a change from previous years that were 75 sq feet per person, not registration. 2. Camp fees are per person that attends, not per registration. Due date is July 1st (Saturday) They pay for water filters, fuel, hospitality (in common tent) and other camp materials. Camp fees can be paid via paypal to daemonbroussard@gmail.com and are: $30 for anyone age 13 and above $20 for age 12 and under Please include who you are paying for in the note with the payment. Alternative payment methods will be made available if needed. If you have any questions please contact the camp steward His Excellency Daemon Broussard, or Marion Le Red. Both can be reached at: pennsiccamp@windmastershill.org Sometimes people are not sure what all we try to have in the Baronial camp. Here is a short list of the facilities that we setup: Common Tent A place to hang out or have a meal. Water Filters Due to a high iron content filtering the water can make it more palatable. Scullery A dishwashing and drying station. Showers We have hot water on demand 24/7 with filtered water. Water/Snacks We try to have cool water as well as snacks in the common tent for hospitality. Remember to register for Pennsic and the Baronial camp if you are staying there. 5 M a y M e e t i n g M i n u t e s Here are the minutes of the Windmasters' Hill May 21, 2017 Baronial Meeting Meeting Start Time: 4:04pm Meeting End Time: 5:16pm Members in Attendance: 29 Non-Members in Attendance: 0 Business from Kingdom On this 20th day of May 2017 at Court in Our Barony of Hawkwood, We, Cuan and Signy, King and Queen of Atlantia, acting in consultation and concord with Our Seneschal, Duchess Simone de Barjavel, issue Sanction Expulsion from the SCA, against John T. Sheppard, known in the Society as Duke Guillaume Tomas le Lou (William Thomas). This Sanction prohibiting participation in the SCA and its activities by any means and in any venue, including social media owned by the SCA is effective immediately and shall last until the end of our reign on October 7, 2017 pending review by the Society Seneschal and the Board of Directors. SCA Sanction Guide January 2014 Edition, Revision 1.01 II.C. EXPULSION FROM THE SCA1. Definition: Expulsion temporarily bans an individual from attendance or participation in any way, shape, or form in any SCA activity, event, practice, or official gathering for any reason, at any time, until the issue that gave rise to the expulsion has been resolved. This includes a ban on participation on officially recognized SCA social media (Facebook) sites; officially recognized SCA electronic lists and officially recognized SCA webpages. What does this mean for your group? It means that the sanctioned person may not participate. He cannot attend SCA events, SCA practices of any type or participate on SCA e-lists or SCA social media. He may not contact any Crown, Heirs or officers of the SCA. No officer of the SCA may allow him to participate, no marshal can allow him to attend an SCA practice, and no seneschal may allow him to attend an SCA event or meeting. Any infraction or attempted infraction of this expulsion must be reported to the Kingdom Seneschal, your corresponding Great Officer of State (i.e. marshals notify Earl Marshal etc.), and local seneschal. If you have specific concerns please contact the Kingdom Seneschal directly. There will be a huddle at 11am to go over do s and don ts. Break down at 4pm, shed load in after and dinner following. Bring a chair, wear your nice cloths, and come out! Pennsic- Camp Daemon will be camp steward, with help from Solvarr in the first week, and whoever else can come! War of the Wings- Camp- Jack and Michelle Meal plan? Anyone willing? Steak night/camp night one night is a good idea. We ll probably need to know the numbers for food at least a month out. Probably need a truck then too. Buckston birthday 18 th of November. Did site walk through and will have list of stuff going on presently. PLunc/tavern planned. 5

On a 5th Thursday of a month are doing potlucks and dancing, so come out and have fun! Thank you to everyone who bought spices, raised enough to pay for yearly site fee. More spices available if anyone wants them. Kapellenberg Meeting every other Monday for the most part. Nimenfeld Have meetings and fighter practice Baronage Comments Canvas Baronial tent/populace has never been sealed. Are folks interested in sealing tent? (They use Starbright on theirs). Ongoing A&S Workshops: Attilium (Fayetteville) A&S Social Nights held the 1 st and 3 rd Thursday and an A&S Class held the 4th Thursday of the month at Kiwanis Rec Center (352 Devers Street, Fayetteville, NC 28303). Buckston (Durham) A&S Workshops and/or classes occur on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of the month in Hillsborough. Week 1: Give back A&S. Week 2 & 3: A&S. Should there be a 5th Tuesday in the month, it is a Kids Night. Elvegast (Raleigh) A&S Meetings are held on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursdays at 7:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1500 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27608) Kappellenberg (Chapel Hill) A&S Classes after Business meetings on Mondays at 7:30 PM at Chapel of the Cross (Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, NC). Nimenefeld (Apex) A&S workshops to be held as announced. String Thing (North Durham) A monthly gathering (usually the 4th Sunday of the month) of those who work with string of all sorts (knitting, netting, lace making, embroidery, handsewing, cord making, weaving, naalbinding, etc.) to get together and work on their projects and share information. If you have a particular interest and want help with working on something or pointers on where to find information, if you ahead of our gathering, you are more likely to get the help you'd like.
