Both clubs have proud football traditions which I am sure will be upheld today. One of the leading lights from the early years was John Cullinane. who was later an M.P. for Tipperary. As well 8S being a member of the club he was 8 member of Tipperary's first County Board and later of the Central Council. He was referee of the firsi All-Ireland Football Semi-Finel between Limerick CommercialS and Kilmacow of Kilkenny. played at 8ansha. Four club men, Rick Hourigan, Tom Byrne, Willie Grogan and Ned Hanley, were pan of the great TipperolY town learn that panicipated in the 1902 AlI Ireland FOOlball Final between Tipperary and Dublin. The club came of age in 1949 when they won Ihe County Senior Football title for the first lime with play9r5 like Larry Maher, Jack Grogan. Denis Walsh. Liam Byrnes, Larry Quinn, Eddie McCarthy, John Joe Quirke, Sean Byrnes, and Pad Joe O'Brien making a major contribution to Ihe success. Another Senior championship was won in The club had to wait until 1976 for theif third Senior success following victory at the under-21 le\lel the previous year. Jimmy Ferris received Ihe cup. Two further Successes were to follow in 1980 captained by Vincent O'Donnell end in 1981 under the leadership of Mick Hickey.
