2015 Juvenile GAA Club Report Chairman: Joe McCarthy; Secretary: Ger Lynch; Treasurer: JP Hartigan. The Juvenile Club would like to thank all the players who played at underage level with the club during the year. The club is very proud of these players who are a credit to their families, their coaches and their parish. We would also like to thank the parents for their great support. In addition, we are lucky to have the backup of the teachers in Tineteriffe, Scoil Chaitriona and Bilboa schools, who give the children great encouragement to participate in Gaelic games. Finally, a particular word of thanks to the coaches of each team for their time and effort, to ensure that each child has a memorable experience of playing with Cappamore. Needless to say, new coaches regardless of experience are always very welcome. The following is the report from each management team with respect to the grades they managed. Under 16 s Coaches: Joe McCarthy, Liam O Mahoney and Peadar Fahey The U16 Panel had a very busy year, taking part in the Division 2 County Hurling and Division 3 Football Championships. Our goal any year is to try and achieve success, but this year we were high in confidence that we potentially had a very good bunch of boys. Our hurling draw was very favourable with St Patricks, Ballybrown, Garryspillane, Pallasgreen and South Liberties. With our points secured after round one and two, we face the hot favourites, Garryspillane in round three. This Garryspillane team has a number of counties won at U14 and U15 levels, so we knew we had a big task in hand. The game started at a very high tempo, and the end to end nature of the game continued from start to finish. We lost the game by a single point, but far from being disappointed we felt the boys had put in an excellent performance. We felt the boys would go a long way in the competition, and hopefully have an opportunity to meet Garryspillane again and turn the result around. The rest of the group games were a non-event as both Pallas and South Liberties gave us walkovers. This is a disappointment as game time is so important. The boys continued to train very well with a few good challenge games in preparation for their county semi-final. County semi-final day took place Saturday September 12 th in Claughaun GAA Grounds. Game one was Garryspillane against Deel Ranges. As expected Garryspillane won out easily at the final whistle with a score of Garryspillane 2 16 Deel Rangers 1 8. Game two Cappamore against Killaculla Gaels. This game was outstanding, with the lead changing a number of times. Final whistle came with both teams level and extra time pending. The physical bigger team had taken its toll on our boys, with a number of walking wounded at this point. Extra time didn t go our way but the boys fought to the last sliotar only to lose by two points. The boys had given their all, and the game was noted as having being the game of the championship this year. Prepared by G Lynch Page 1 of 18

The football championship was enjoyed by all. Our group had Hospital Herbertstown, knockainey, Ballylanders, Shamrock Gaels and Kilteely/ Dromkeen. For a division 3 championship there was some decent opposition. The boys played some excellent football and again progressed to the county semi-final. These boys showed real metal having to play the football semi-final the Sunday morning after losing the hurling semi the day before. With less than 24 hrs to recover and having fresh legs called up from the U14 panel we lined out away to St Senan s with Dromcollogher Broadford waiting in the wings in the final. Once again these young men performed and controlled the game from the start, Cappamore won out 5-7 to 1-8. Not given St Senan s any opportunity to get a foothold in the game; Cappamore played an attractive brand of football, creating the space to get inside the St Senan s rear guard for a number of goals, with a defensive performance that made life very difficult for the St Senan s attack. The final was October 4 th in Rathkeale against Dromcollogher Broadford and again we had an excellent game. The boys played very well in the opening half, again taking their goal opportunities very well. We were up 4-6 to 0-5 at half time and looked to be in a good position for the second half. But like in most games the fight back came in the second half. Dromcollogher Broadford struck for two goals of their own in the second half and added a further five points to their tally. Luckily for Cappamore we continued to pick off points of our own and won out 4-10 to 2-10 at the final whistle to the relief and cheers of the Cappamore supporters. This is a great achievement for this bunch of young men playing and beating teams with the football pedigree Dromcollogher Broadford. Prepared by G Lynch Page 2 of 18

To finish, on behalf of myself, Liam O Mahoney and Peadar Fahey we would like to take this opportunity to thank the boys, you their parents and our first aid man John Leonard for all your commitment, support and help during the 2015 season. We would also like to wish the young men moving on to the senior side of the club continued success in the Cappamore jersey, once again thanks to all. Under 14s and U13s Coaches: Daniel O Donnell, Diarmuid Mulcahy, Conor O Malley, Jack Campbell. U-14 Hurling We started our year s hurling in the Feile na Gael competition where we faced a much fancied opposition in Bruff. Bruff proved to be very strong and ran out as easy winners in the finish. We regrouped and trained hard with all the boys putting in super efforts with training. We played five group matches in the division 3 league, winning four and receiving a walk over in another. We finished second in the group to Caherline thereby qualifying for the County semi-final. We faced a strong Templeglantine team in Rathkeale in the semi final, and lost out on a score line of 8-3 to 4-4. U-14 Football We played five group games in division three, winning one and losing the other four by very tight margins. This enabled us to get into the shields semi-final where we faced Athea. We won this well in the finish and reached the shield final versus Mungret St. Pauls. At time of publication, the game has not yet been played, however we are looking forward to a positive outcome in the final. A panel of 25 young boys trained and played with us all year in both codes. Prepared by G Lynch Page 4 of 18

U-13 Hurling We played five group games in division three, winning four and drawing one, setting up a County final game versus Ballingarry. At time of publication, the game has not yet been played and our panel of twenty seven boys are looking forward to trying to finish the year off on a high in winning the final. I would like to thank my fellow selectors Diarmuid, Jack, Conor in helping out all year with the groups of lads. U14s and U13s Coaches: Daniel O Donnell, Diarmuid Mulcahy, Conor O Malley, Jack Campbell. We won this well in the finish and reached the shield final versus Mungret St. Pauls. In a very close contest, we scored a goal in the dying minutes of the game and ended up beating Mungret to win the Division 3 shield final. A panel of 27 young boys trained and played with us all year in both codes. U-13 Hurling We played five group games in division three, winning four and drawing one, to set up a County final game versus Granagh Ballingarry. In a exciting game played in Knockea the Cappamore boys were in control throughout the game but found scoring difficult in the 1st half. In the second half the scores started to come, and our backs continued to be strong in defence, and we ended up worthy winners on a score line of 3-8 to 6 points. I would like to thank my fellow selectors Diarmuid, Jack, Conor in helping out all year with the groups of lads. Prepared by G Lynch Page 5 of 18

Under 12s Coaches: Con Hayes, Mossy Gleeson, Conor O'Malley, Eoghan Bourke. This was a largely successful year for our under 12 boys. Having won all 3 games in the preliminary part of both the Hurling and Football Leagues, the boys were entered into the upper tier of both codes for the latter stages. Of the 10 remaining games in both codes, they only lost once in each with good wins in particular over Kilmallock and Bruff. The boys successfully retained the Phil Power Cup with a good win over Caherline, with Sean Whelan captain on the night. The lads made large contributions to their respective schools in enabling Bilboa, Scoil Chaitriona and Tineteriffe win their divisional titles. We were fortunate to have good numbers again this year and with thanks to the older lads from the under 10 team and co-operation from their management, we entered the under 11 hurling league. This proved to be a good success and resulted with 5 wins from 6 games. We were invited to an end of year (under 11 1/2) football tournament in Newport with Tommy Meehan captaining the boys to win the James O'Rourke Cup with wins over Burgess, KIlfenora and Newport on the day. The boys and management enjoyed a great day out at the Limerick/Clare match in Thurles. From leaving Cappamore early that morning on the bus to dinner in Hayes' that evening, it was thoroughly enjoyable for all. Schools Programme As in previous years, the Club would like to thank Tineteriffe, Scoil Chaitriona and Bilboa national schools for facilitating the schools GAA programme in conjunction with the County Bord na nog. Local coaches Richard Leonard, Claire Keating and Tadgh Butler spent approx 40 hours each, coaching the kids in hurling and football skills. This has proven to be a great success in the past, and we thank all the coaches, the schools, the senior club and the camogie club for assisting in this very worthwhile programme. Kellogg s Cul camp We had over seventy kids attend the Cul Camp at the start of July. The weather was great; the kids learned lots of new skills, made more friends and had a great time. Our thanks go to the Limerick GAA Games Development, the Coaches, the Parents and the kids for making it a successful and enjoyable week. A special word of thanks goes to those who helped out at registration, supervising at lunch time and tidying up afterwards. Some photos of the kids at the Cul Camp.
