THE RAGING BULL Season 2013 Volume 13 Focus and Determination to Win Now that the Bulls have had their week off in the Split Round in Season After a relaxing and rejuvenating week off the track it is now time to shift their focus ahead to this Saturdays clash with arch rivals Frankston YCW at Jubilee Park. The last time the Bulls travelled to Jubilee Park it was a solitary goal that separated the Stonecats and the Bulls while in the reserves the Bulls did light work of the Stonecats. This time around it will be a challenge because the Stonecats are up and about but a 59 point win over Mt Eliza will have the Bulls up and about. Seafood Luncheon Make sure you buy your tickets for the upcoming Seafood Luncheon on the 3 rd August at the Karingal versus Mornington home game. 11:30-2:00pm. All you can eat seafood plus beer and wine with a guest speaker. All for $75 see the flyer in the Newsletter for more details!
This week, the Bulls head to Jubilee Park for our clash against Arch Rival, Frankston YCW. Last time the bulls played YCW in the ANZAC Day clash it was the Stonecats who came away with the Points in both Netball and Football so this time around the Footballers and the Netballers will be looking to turn the tables on Saturday. In 2013 We are smart phone compatible so you can get all your Bulls News anywhere, anytime...know someone who follows the Bulls but doesn t get The Raging Bull? 4 The Week in Review Round 12 vs Mt Eliza For the Under 18 s, improvement was significant as you will remember when they played Mt Eliza back in Round 3 they were beaten by 20 goals, this time there was much more of a fight but unfortunately they still went down. Triepys boys have made significant inroads heading into the 2 nd half of 2013 but also next year and there is still football games to be won. The reserves fought valiantly yet again but were still over run by the Redlegs. The seniors were the highlight of the day, not only beating last year s runners up but beating them by 10 goals. It just goes to show how much work has been put in this year, but it s not over, there still a way to go in Season Over on the Netball courts, the girls could only manage the one win in C grade which continue their winning way. The girls are playing some exciting netball and you would think they re not done yet. B grade, has had a disruptive season so far so many changes to the team but every time they go out on the court, they show the spirit that the Karingal FNC promotes and same with A grade even if they lose.
Football Report Season 2013 Senior Coach Report Brendan Dunne This week we had a big game against Mt. Eliza and all the players really wanted was to back up the performance from langy and improve on it and also get a good win at home. In the ore match the focus was on hard, aggressive, pressure football and doing the basic well, sometimes we can get caught up in trying to play to fancy and forget as a team to do the basics well. It was great to see us get off to a quick start and from the very first bounce you could tell the boys were on, we were tackling and pressuring the ball carrier very well and all our key match ups over the ground were winning. The bulls controlled most of the game possession wise but what was most pleasing for me as coach was a period of about 15 mins in the 2nd quarter when Mt Eliza had about 80% of the ball they failed to kick one goal in this time and it was all due to our numbers pushing back and the team being defensively disciplined, this was great to see as it has been one of our negatives at times this year. There is a couple of special mentions this week Donk having his best game of the year kicking 6, Bud also having his best game of the year kicking 4 from midfield and doing a job for the team. The to key post down back were super again in LVR and Paxton and have been the rock of the team all year it was also great to see big G have a great game as well. It was a great team effort on the weekend and if we can play like that we can beat anyone on any day but it is a matter of doing it all the time now. The bar has been raises as a team and we must keep raising it. Thoughts go out to KB after surgery to his face we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Cheers Dunney
U18s Report Michael Triep Big challenge today v Mt Eliza as in my opinion are far and away the best side in the competition with a full team. Last time they buried us by 23 goals so today was a test to see how much we had improved. We set our focus on attacking the footy and all 22 playing a role and not relying on the same 6 or 7 again. We started well winning the ball out of the middle and having our fair share of possession throughout the quarter to be 3 goals down at the break. We attacked the footy well and put intense pressure on the opposition with Kelly and Pickess getting plenty of ball and getting it forward. Dirty was again on top in the ruck as we expect and the boys all lifted again to win the quarter by a goal. It was great to see the belief that we can compete with the best teams whether it be a quarter or so and this was evident as the boys were really fired up at the break. In the 3rd Mt Eliza's class shone thru as they ran super hard from half back and really set the standard with their attack putting on 6 goals in the term to extend the gap to 10 goals at the last change. We weren't playing bad footy we just lacked the class of the opposition. Paxton was his usual reliable self, repelling of half back all day and Chris Matthews never stops working. My message was to continue the fight reapply the pressure and finish off. They did! Our last quarter was fantastic matching them up and down the ground. Hancock, Cassera, AB and Damo were fantastic as we kept the result to 10 goals. A huge positive to improve by 13 goals on a gun side who will win the flag hands down. It is very gratifying knowing we are heading down the right path. The spirit and mateship in the group is what footy is all about and I'm wrapt with their attitude.

Racism, It Stops with Me! Everyone would remember the incident between Adam Goodes and the 13 year old Collingwood supporter at the beginning of the AFL Indigenous Round. Furthermore, would remember the comments made by Collingwood President Eddie McGuire only just two weeks ago. Racism, has not just been involved in Australian Rules football, but in sports across the world. Especially in sports where international players are a part of clubs. The Karingal Football & Netball Club takes a zero tolerance towards racially abusing or vilifying of a player, official or supporter based on gender, race or religion. Without these three components of a club and league, there would be no football to watch and there would be no talent from local level. Football is about having fun and enjoying getting together on a Saturday and playing with your mates, against your mates and meet new mates along the way regardless of who they are or what they believe in. So whether you are Indigenous, a person from another culture or religion or you are just a regular Australian. No-one should EVER be subject to racial abuse in Australian football and this needs to be stamped out of our game!

CLUB 44 - Honouring Justin Groves Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties. Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44 share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin s father and brother David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin. The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them. In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity, Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the warmth with which this club has been accepted. Even with Justin s passing he continues to have an emotional and tangible influence on the success of the Karingal Football Club CLUB 44 Winners: 2004 Ben Gothard 2005 David Measham 2006 Matt Jakobi 2007 Justin Peckett 2008 Steve Charalambous 2009 Robbie Clements 2010 Justin Farrelly 2011 Bevan Malloy 2012 Troy Hoad 2013 Package: $250 Paid by Round 1 (Club 44 Day), otherwise $275 Club Membership Entry to All Home Games Insider Regular updates straight from the coach. 4 Guest passes To allow people entry to game & half time as required C44 Corporate Hat Supplied by Blue Gum Clothing $80 Voucher To be used for drinks, merchandise or Pre Season Lunch / Seafood Lunch Tickets 1/2 Time Functions In Rooms for Showtime Attractions Park Club 44 Day Beer, Wine & Soft Drink Round 2 April 13th V Langwarrin 12 pm Onwards.
NETBALL REPORT: Last week saw us host Mt Eliza at our home court, after the weather being pretty much perfect all week we started the day with a wet court & a low lying fog that never looked like lifting, which made for cold slippery conditions. The C girls started the day as usual & played a great game with only a few little slips from the opposition. It was neck & neck the first 3 quarters but they broke away in the last to win by 12 goals. B Grade were up next & with a few outs due to Injuries & work the girls had Clare & Jade Cappola fill in for them. The girls played a good game of netball but Mt Eliza was just too strong with the girls going down by 27 goals. A grade came on & the court was much drier but Mt Eliza Blew them away in the first qtr 14-4 & never took their foot of the pedal, the girls played thier hardest but Mt Eliza just powered on to a 40goal win. With the split round we can rest up & hopefully get back a few of our girls from injury. We take on YCW next up & we will be aiming at 3 wins Scores: A grade Karingal 27 v Mt Eliza 67 B grade Karingal 19 v Mt Eliza 46 C grade Karingal 40 v Mt Eliza 28 LADIES DAY - Saturday 17th Aug Get a table & finish off the home & away season enjoying a drink & a meal with your friends Details to follow!!
